Warisan being wooed by PN and BN-Umno but it is not biting the baits

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23, 2025: Why are both the racist and religious bigoted parties in Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional-Umno (BN-Umno) still trying to woo former chief minister Shafie Apdal’s Warisan (Sabah Heritage Party)  to an electoral pact in the coming state elections?

They must know something and a worried about their chances in the coming state polls.

The simple fact is that Warisan is still the strongest local party that Sabahans may throw their full and united support to kick our the corrupt politicians and the racial and religious bigoted bigots from Semenanjong (Pensinsular Malaysia).

In the last state elections, Warisan won 23 of the 73 Sabah assembly seats - the most seats won by a solo party - but political frogs and others ganged up to deny Shafie the chief ministership.

However, this time around, Sabahans could be more united and vote for Warisan to dump the corrupt incumbent assemblymen and the bigoted West Malaysian political parties.

So, why must Warisan entertain PN and BN-Umno an incur wrath of parochial Sabahans?

The party says it has repeatedly made its stand clear that it will contest the upcoming state election on its own.

Warisan information chief Azis Jamman said at a time when political uncertainty and opportunism are common, the party chooses to remain ‘consistent, principled, and transparent’.

PETALING JAYA: Warisan insists it will contest the next Sabah state election on its own, after Perikatan Nasional said it is open to a tie-up with the party at the polls.

Warisan said today it had repeatedly made its stand clear that it will contest the upcoming election independently under its own logo, a decision which it has consistently communicated.

“There are no negotiations, discussions or arrangements with PN, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah or any other political coalition regarding electoral cooperation,” said Warisan information chief Azis Jamman in a statement.

“At a time when political uncertainty and opportunism are common, Warisan chooses to remain consistent, principled, and transparent.

“Our direction is clear … to contest solo and to provide Sabahans with a government that prioritises their welfare over political expediency.”

Warisan said its only pact is with Sabahans, and it is focused on addressing the challenges faced by the people, such as the rising cost of living, lack of infrastructure, unreliable electricity and water supply, limited job opportunities, and the state’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Earlier today, PN chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan said the coalition will not go solo as parties contesting on their own are no longer relevant.

“Cooperation with Warisan remains a possibility because in politics, anything can happen, especially since the date for the state assembly’s dissolution has not been announced,” he said.

This comes after Perikatan Nasional chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan said that his coalition has not ruled out the possibility of working with Warisan for the polls.

“Warisan has, from the outset, made our stand clear. Under the leadership of our president Shafie Apdal, Warisan will contest the 17th Sabah state election independently, under our own logo. -mkini

KOTA KINABALU, Feb 15 — Parti Warisan (Warisan) yesterday denied having reached an understanding with Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) regarding the allocation of state seats that both parties will contest in the next state election.

Its deputy president, Datuk Darell Leiking, said claims made by a news portal about an agreement between Warisan and Sabah BN were merely speculation and assumptions.

“I have received numerous calls and WhatsApp messages from journalists, Warisan members and the public asking whether it is true that an electoral understanding has been reached between Warisan and Sabah BN.

“For everyone’s information, I confirm here that no electoral pact has been made between Warisan and BN Sabah or with any other political party,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said any proposal or discussion on an electoral pact between Warisan and other political parties has never been brought to the party’s Political Bureau or Supreme Council for deliberation.

Yesterday, a news portal reported that Warisan and Sabah BN had engaged in discussions to reach a compromise for the next state election, claiming that both parties were likely to avoid contesting against each other in 50 out of the 73 state seats up for contest.
