KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1, 2025: After a 302-day hearing, the disgraced and shameless former prime minister Najib “1MDB” Razak will learn his fate in the RM2.3 billion 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) graft trial.

On Dec 26 (Boxing Day), Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah is set to deliver his judgment on the four charges of abuse of power and 21 money-laundering charges.

PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak will learn his fate on Dec 26, after the High Court set the date for its verdict in the long-running 1MDB criminal trial in the course of proceedings today.

Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah fixed the date for his decision whether to convict or acquit Najib, even with his defence team yet to finish its closing submissions.

“I know it (the defence’s submissions) will spill over to Nov 4, but I can state here and now that I will deliver my decision on Dec 26,” he said.

Sequerah made known the decision date as Najib’s lead counsel, Shafee Abdullah, sought permission to continue with oral arguments after Friday prayers.

Shafee had requested that proceedings be extended into the afternoon, after Friday prayers, but the judge declined the application.

“Is it on Boxing Day?” Shafee asked, seeking confirmation.

Sequerah replied in the affirmative.

He then fixed Nov 4 for Shafee to wrap up his submissions.

A total of 50 witnesses testified during the prosecution’s case, which went on for 253 hearing days between Aug 28, 2019 to May 30 last year.

On Oct 30 last year, Sequerah ordered Najib to enter his defence, after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case.

The defence began its case on Dec 2, with Najib giving his testimony from the witness stand.

The parties took 58 days to examine and cross-examine 25 defence witnesses, including former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng, former inspector-general of police Fuzi Harun, and former 1MDB chairman Che Lodin Wok Kamaruddin.

Oral submissions at the close of the defence case began on Oct 21 and have spanned 10 hearing days. The proceedings were originally scheduled to complete today.

In his submissions, Shafee called for Najib to be acquitted of all charges, saying the defence had created doubt in the prosecution’s case.

Najib is also represented by lawyers Tania Scivetti and Wan Azwan Aiman Wan Fakhruddin.

As a Muslim convert of 41 years, I need to speak about Ridhuan Tee and Firdaus Wong.*

I embraced Islam because of a profound spiritual experience. I heard the Azan - three times around midnight in my bedroom. There was no TV, no radio, no logical explanation. I lived in a predominantly Chinese neighborhood with no mosque nearby, even to this day.

That mystical incident led me to study Islam, and ultimately, to embrace it. Not because someone pressured me. Not for social advantage. Not to prove anything to anyone. But because I experienced something that transformed my understanding of the Divine. A call that changed my life.

That is what genuine conversion looks like. A spiritual awakening. Not a political calculation.

Which is why I am horrified by what these two converts are doing in the name of Islam.

Ridhuan Tee wants to eliminate Chinese schools over alcohol at fundraising events. Let’s be clear: THIS IS NOT about Islamic principle. It is about using religion as a weapon to attack educational institutions serving hundreds of thousands of Malaysian children.

Firdaus Wong produced videos instructing people how to secretly convert minors without parental knowledge, directly violating Article 12(4) of our Federal Constitution.

Both are weaponizing Islam FOR CONTROL, NOT SPIRITUAL GROWTH.

Here is what non-Muslims need to understand:
These men DO NOT represent Islam. They represent the exploitation of Islam FOR POWER.

And here is what Muslims need to hear:
When we ALLOW religion to be weaponized like this, we damage Islam’s reputation and violate Islamic ethics.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized:
* Respecting parental authority
* Building trust between communities
* Honoring agreements and covenants
* Acting with integrity and transparency

Secret conversion of children? That violates Islamic values of family bonds.

Using alcohol as pretext to eliminate schools? That violates Islamic values of seeking knowledge and respecting diversity.

I have been Muslim for 41 years. I don’t need to prove my faith by attacking other communities or violating constitutional rights. REAL FAITH DOES NOT require that.

What CONCERNS me most: these converts often perform extreme religiosity to prove their authenticity by being “more Muslim than Malays”. This IS NOT spiritual depth. It is INSECURITY dressed as PIETY.

And it IS being exploited politically.They are deployed to say things born-Muslims cannot say easily, to test how far religious authority can be pushed, to chip away at constitutional protections while claiming it is ‘for Islam”.

This MUST STOP. And it requires Muslims to speak up.

When religion is used to:
* Override constitutional rights
* Violate family bonds
* Attack educational institutions
* Divide communities
…THAT IS NOT Islam. That is manipulation!

I call on my fellow Muslims: DO NOT let zealots hijack our faith. Islam DOES NOT need these tactics. Islam is enriched by knowledge, strengthened by justice, and honored by respecting the dignity of all people.

To my non-Muslim fellow Malaysians: Judge Islam by its principles and genuine practitioners, NOT by those who weaponize it for power.

And to Ridhuan and Firdaus: After 41 years as a Muslim, I can tell you with certainty, what you are doing DOES NOT honor Islam. It shames it.

True conversion transforms you into a BETTER human being. It does not turn you into a weapon against other communities.

Malaysia NEEDS Muslims and non-Muslims standing together to defend our Constitution, protect our children, and preserve the pluralism that is our strength.

That is the Malaysia worth fighting for!

WHAT DO MALAYS THINK ABOUT THEIR PRIVILEGES OVER OTHER MALAYSIANS IN MALAYSIA?

I am a Malay and a Muslim. My father was a Malay. His foreparents were Malays. My mother was a Malay and her foreparents were Malays.

I was born in January 1955 in a village in rural Kedah. The only economic activity within the village was related to farming and rubber-tapping.

I began schooling when I was 7 in 1962. At that time there were 4 mediums of teaching in Malaya - Malay, English, Chinese or Tamil.

At my hometown, there were Malay Primary Schools and Chinese Primary School. There was no Tamil Primary School in my hometown Yan Kedah.

At that time there was no Secondary School in Yan Kedah. We went to a Primary School for 6 years. After Primary 6 we would enter Secondary 1 for 5 years. At the end of Form 5 we would sit for Senior Cambridge exams. Upon passing the Exams we would enter Form 6 for 2 years. We would sit for Higher School Certificate Exam something equivalent to the British A-Level. Passing the Higher School Certificate we would be able to enter the one and only university around, the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. At this University at that time the only medium of instruction was English. I can proudly tell everyone at that time our Standards of Education was truly very high.

At that time almost everyone who sat for the Senior Cambridge Exams were fluent in English.

When I was growing up we (the Malays) never considered ourselves ‘Bumiputra’ and we never considered the others (Chinese or Indians) as Non-Bumiputraa. At that time we considered everyone humanbeings. We were equals!

My family was poor. Our house was next to a thick tropical jungle at the foothills of Gunung Jerai, which was known as Kedah Peak. Our neighbour was a Chinese family. My parents were rubber-tappers and our neighbours Ah Theik and his wife and children were farmers. They grew vegetables and sold their producers to vegetable-sellers at the small town.

Ah Theik had a son, Ah Seng. He was a year older than I was. Everyday we walked about 1.5 km to town, our Primary Schools were adjacent to each other. At that time everyone walked. A bicycle was a luxury. A motorbike was a trophy. A car was more than a luxury.

There was no Indian in Yan (my hometown) because there was no rubber estates. There were not so many Chinese in Yan because there was no tin mine in Yan. There were no ‘True Malays' in Yan or the whole country at the time when I was a small boy. I never knew I was a ‘Bumiputra' at that time.

My father's family was immigrants from Thailand. His foreparents were immigrants from Yemen.

My mother’s family were immigrants from Aceh, Indonesia.

We (Malaysians) are all immigrants. Dr Mahathir who is the ‘Mostest Purest Malay Racist’ is an Indian-Muslim. His father was an immigrant from Kerala, India.

Most Chinese in Malaysia have their parents whom were immigrants from China. Majority of the Chinese in Melaka were immigrants from China. Their foreparents migrated to Melaka even before Mahathir’s great-greater-greatest- greatest plus grandparents were born in Kerala. Mahathir was born in Kedah, his father was an Indian immigrant and he is the ‘Mostest Purest Ultra’est’ Malay but a Chinese from Melaka whose first foreparents were born in Melaka before 1511 AD (the Portuguese attacked and conquered Melaka in 1511) are not Bumiputra ? Why ?

Vernacular Colonisation.

Malaysians were divided into ‘Bumiputra' and ‘Non-Bumiptra’ in order for Malaysia to be recolonise by a tiny group of mentally retarded inbred ‘Bumiputra'’ to colonise Malaysia.

For me Malaysia would be the Richest Country in this World without the New Economic Policy. UiTM should be opened to all Malaysians.

Beginning 1980 when Ka-Tun Mahashit was elected the Prime Minister of Malaysia the NEW ECONOMIC POLICY WAS USED TO LEGALISE CORRUPTIONS AND ROBBERIES OF NATIONAL ASSETS.

CONSTRUCTION WORKS WERE AWARDED TO MALAY MILLIONAIRES AT GROSSLY INSULTING PRICES IN THE NAME OF ‘NEW ECONOMIC POLICY’

In 1970 the NEW ECONOMIC POLICY was formulated to ‘distribute the Wealth of our Country more evenly and to abolish extreme poverty within THE BUMIPUTRA GROUP. AWARDING GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS AT SKYROCKETTED PRICES TO MALAY MULTI-MILLIONAIRES DO NOTHING TO THE POOR MALAYS.

UMNO TALK ABOUT ‘BUMIPUTRA’ THE SENOI, JAKUNS, AND ALL THE ORANG ASLI ARE BUMIPUTRAS. HAVE THESE GROUPS OF MALAYSIANS BEEN GIVEN ANYTHING ? WHAT I KNOW IS - ‘RICH MULTI-MILLIONAIRES FROM UMNO WERE GIVEN LICENCES TO CUT LOGS IN THE FORESTS AND AS USUAL THE RICH UMNO MULTI-MILLIONAIRES SOLD HIS LICENCES TO SOME RICHER/POORER CHINESE LOGGERS.

THE NEW ECONOMIC POLICY WAS USED BY CORRUPTED GREEDY UMNO POLITICIANS TO ROB THIS COUNTRY LEGALLY.

UITM WAS USED TO BREED MEDIOCRITY AND PUNISH EXCELLENCE.

The downfall of this our beautiful country is by Malays' themselves.

“This is a teaser of why I divorced him. He wanted to prove to netizens that he was looking for a modest and veiled woman, just to look good. In reality, he likes to subscribe to OnlyFans,” she wrote.

The entrepreneur went on to claim that her ex-husband had rented a secret place to meet women, describing it as a spot conveniently located near his friend’s office.

“He rented a special place to bring in his mistresses and prostitutes. He would go there every day during working hours because it is near his friend’s office.

Alongside the revelations, she also uploaded photos of what appeared to be sex toys, condoms and lubricants, claiming they belonged to her ex-husband.

The influencer further shared screenshots of alleged messages from several individuals who claimed to have been hired by him.

She said her decision to come forward was triggered by recent attempts to tarnish her reputation by people close to her ex-husband.

“He just wants others to think I’m the bad one, just because I’m sexy. So, he looked for someone in a hijab. If I share the list of women he subscribed to on OnlyFans, you would cry.”

“He just wants people to think I am the bad one because I am sexy. That is his only motive, but wrong move.

“I came prepared. I am not the kind who disturbs others, but if you mess with me, that is your biggest mistake.

“So the lesson here is, do not try so hard to act righteous. No one is impressed; those who know you already know what you are really like.

“If I were to post about all your disgusting behaviour from the start until our divorce, it would not even finish in a month. So, if you know you are filthy, better stay quiet,” she added.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 — Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth treasurer Datuk Shahrul Nasrun Kamarudin has been relieved of his duties following a viral social media controversy sparked by allegations from his former wife, entrepreneur and influencer Amyera Zainal.

Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh confirmed the decision, saying that it was made to allow Shahrul Nasrun to resolve his personal matters away from the public eye.

“For now, Datuk Shahrul has been temporarily relieved of his duties as BN Youth treasurer to enable him to focus on his personal affairs. We will not interfere and will give him the space he needs,” Akmal was quoted saying in a Sinar Harian report.

The controversy erupted on Oct 28 when Amyera made a series of claims on her Instagram Stories, just days after Shahrul announced his engagement to Meerween Hanees Natasha Meeat on Oct 25.

The timing and nature of the posts sparked widespread social media discussion, with many questioning Shahrul’s credibility as a political figure.

Amyera said she was speaking out to defend her reputation against what she perceived as attacks on her character.

“He just wants people to think I’m bad because I’m sexy. That’s his only motive... if you mess with me, that’s your biggest mistake,” she wrote on a social media account.

Shahrul responded on the same night with an Instagram statement of his own, denying the allegations and expressing regret that their personal issues had become public.

He defended his fiancée, stressing she was not involved, and acknowledged his previous marriage officially ended on July 30, 2024.

Admitting to past “shortcomings,” he said he viewed them as “meaningful life lessons” and wished his ex-wife peace and happiness.

However, his post also included a warning, citing Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 that he said would punish individuals found guilty of spreading false information or cyberbullying with a fine of up to RM50,000, a year in prison, or both.
