DAP Sending Marina Ibrahim on Suicide Mission – They Don’t Deserve Her, She Should Join BERSAMA

Marina Ibrahim Deserves Better – DAP’s Treatment of Talent is Shameful

Marina Binti Ibrahim, the young, bright, and high-performing ADUN for Skudai, has made the wise decision to decline the offer to contest the Tiram seat. In her official letter dated 30 May 2026, she politely but firmly rejected the directive from DAP Johor leadership to abandon her current seat and take on what many see as a high-risk “suicide mission” in a BN-held constituency.

According to Chinese media reports, DAP Johor Chairman Teo Nie Ching personally urged Marina to switch to Tiram, framing it as a “strategic move.” The party supposedly needs “young, capable leaders” like her to expand beyond traditional strongholds. They even claimed fielding a Malay candidate in an urban seat like Tiram is a “vital opportunity” and that Marina is their “most winnable candidate” for this mission.

This is nothing but political sugarcoating.

If Tiram is truly winnable and such a brilliant strategic opportunity, why was Marina simultaneously offered a GLC position as a fallback? The offer of a comfortable government-linked appointment reveals the truth: DAP knows the risk is extremely high and they are not fully confident of victory. They are willing to risk sacrificing a promising young leader while securing her loyalty with a golden parachute.

This is deeply hypocritical. DAP has long positioned itself as a party that opposes political appointments to GLCs, criticising them as cronyism and abuse of power when done by others. Yet here they are, using the exact same tactic to manage internal dissatisfaction and retain talent. The inconsistency is glaring.

Even more troubling is the leadership’s cowardice. While top DAP leaders continue to choose the safest seats for themselves, they send young, talented, and capable figures like Marina to fight in difficult territories. True leaders lead by example. If expanding beyond comfort zones is so important, why don’t the chairman and other senior leaders volunteer to contest marginal or opposition-held seats themselves?

Marina Ibrahim is exactly the kind of leader Malaysia needs: young, performing, talented, and dedicated. She has served Skudai well. The people of Skudai clearly still hold her in high regard. It is unjust and shortsighted for DAP to treat her as expendable fodder for their expansion experiments.

Marina should seriously consider joining BERSAMA.

BERSAMA appears to be a party that values principles, cherishes young talent, and offers a genuine platform for capable leaders without treating them as disposable. DAP’s current trajectory shows it is increasingly willing to exploit loyal and talented individuals when convenient, only to sideline or sacrifice them when political calculations shift.

DAP is becoming the party of the past — trapped in old habits, internal power plays, and convenient inconsistencies. The future belongs to parties that walk their talk and respect their rising stars.

To Marina Ibrahim: Do not quit politics. Your constituents in Skudai love and support you. There is a better platform where your talents will be appreciated rather than exploited. BERSAMA may just be that future.

The people deserve leaders who are nurtured, not sacrificed.
