Only Anwar and UG do not know about Jho ‘1MDB’ Low’s whereabouts

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21, 2025: There are conflicting news reports on the whereabouts of fugitive financial thief Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, being published by the media on the internet.

A news report even claimed that Jho Low is working as an adviser for the Communist China Government, especially helping major Chinese companies that are dealing with the US government.

However, what must be most disgusting is Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his so-called Madani Unity Government (UG)’s response that they do not have any information on the whereabouts of Jho Low.

Are they trying to protect Malaysia’s No.1 thief/kleptocrat, the disgraced and shameless former prime minister Najib “1MDB” Razak?

The former Umno president (Najib) is now serving his jail sentence in Kajang Prison and is also facing multiple charges of power abuse and money laundering in ongoing court cases.

Despite stealing billions, if not trillions, of Ringgit from the rakyat dan negara (people and country), the corrupt-loving Umno is still lobbying to have Najib freed under house (in Najib’s case bungalow arrest).

Umno today is just a component coalition of the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led UG with just 26 MPs in the 222-seat Parliament, after it lost power in the last general election (GE15).

If Jho Low is extradicted back to Malaysia, he could spill the beans on the 1MDB multi-billion (trillion) financial scandal and put Najib behind bars for life.

Jho Low Back In Business In A Big Way – Working As A Strategist For China – Office In The Shanghai Financial Centre

20 July, 2025

1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) mastermind and fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, is said to be living in a luxury neighbourhood in Shanghai, China, and working for the Chinese government.

This is according to Bradley Hope and Tom Wright, the co-authors of Billion Dollar Whale, which documents the financial exploits of Jho Low and how he made off with billions of ringgit from 1MDB.

In a YouTube live, the duo said that Jho Low is now in the Green Hills neighbourhood in Shanghai.

“He is living a life of luxury, he is driving in fancy cars. His family is travelling outside of China. This guy has become a supervillain essentially. He is definitely not under any house arrest. He has the freedom of movements here that you wouldn’t have thought possible using fake documents,” Wright added.

Hope claimed that Jho Low has also become an adviser for the Chinese government, especially helping major Chinese companies that are dealing with the US government.

“Low has developed a kind of reputation in China as a strategist or a problem solver, because he has a lobbying network. He has made himself indispensable to the Chinese government and Chinese businesses who don’t understand, perhaps, how the rest of the world works. He’s kind of a dark art coordinator for this country (China) now.

“Everywhere he goes, he will be followed by at least two Chinese guards who [are believed to be] government employees. He is working on sensitive Chinese cases. Low has an office in the Shanghai Financial Centre. What we have learned from a variety of sources, he is actually back in business in a big way,” he added.

To hide his real identity, Hope revealed that Jho Low is holding a fake Australian passport with the name “Constantinos Achilles Veis”.

Jho Low played a key role in the misappropriation of money amounting to US$4.5 billion from 1MDB through a web of transactions routed through several countries.

Having been on the run since 2015, he is said to have been sighted in China, Hong Kong and Macau. China has denied Jho Low being in the country.

The 1MDB scandal led to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak being sentenced to a 12-year jail term and fined RM210 million in August 2022, after the apex court dismissed his final appeal in the RM42 million SRC International Sdn Bhd case in August 2022. SRC is a former subsidiary of 1MDB.

But in February 2024, the Pardons Board halved Najib’s jail term and reduced the fine to RM50 million.

The US has imposed a fine of US$1.6 billion on Goldman Sachs for its role in allowing the diversion of a substantial portion of the US$6.5 billion raised by 1MDB. Other countries such as Singapore and the United Arab Emirates have jailed bankers and officials involved in the 1MDB scandal.

Jho Low Under House Arrest In Shanghai – MACC Recovers Over RM29 Billion In 1MDB Assets

20 July, 2025

Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low is believed to be under house arrest in Shanghai, China.

Bradley Hope, co-author of the book “Billion Dollar Whale” which chronicled the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) saga, in his latest post on Twitter, said that he believed the fugitive financier was being held under house arrest in Shanghai.

“China is holding Jho on a tight leash because of negotiations with Malaysia but also because his patrons in the spy services are arrested and business partners at (China Communications Construction Company) CCCC ousted.”

“Low went from being an intelligence asset to a liability after Najib Razak was voted out of power in the 2018 general election.

Yesterday, international broadcaster Al Jazeera reported the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as saying that several individuals had spotted Low in Macau.

Last night, the MACC confirmed the death of Kee Kok Thiam, a suspect in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) who informed the authorities of the whereabouts of the fugitive businessman behind the multi-billion dollar scandal

Kee, 56, was described as Low’s associate and had been deported from Macau for overstaying his visa.

He was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) earlier this month.

Previously, the government said it was expediting the extradition of Low back to Malaysia through collaborations with foreign agencies.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman said the collaboration also involved MACC and included an Interpol Red Notice issued against Low in 2018.

In 2018, Low, alongside four others linked to the 1MDB scandal – Terence Geh, Jasmine Loo, Casey Tang Keng Chee and Eric Tan Kim Loong – were charged in absentia at the Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court due to money laundering cases on the 1MDB scandal.

An arrest warrant against the five individuals was also issued following sufficient evidence against them in money laundering cases.

The warrant was also issued to request Interpol’s assistance in locating them in six countries, China, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand as well as St Kitts and Nevis.

Low, who is the alleged mastermind behind the 1MDB scandal has also been sentenced in absentia to 10 years imprisonment by a Kuwait Court in early March for laundering over US1 billion.

In July 2020, he was believed to be in Macau, where China had denied harbouring the fugitive.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani last year reiterated their commitment to hunting down the fugitive businessman and to bring him back to Malaysia to face the charges filed against him.

MACC recovers over RM29b in 1MDB assets

The total of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) assets recovered so far stands at RM29,752,034,475.13, or 70 per cent of about RM4 billion believed to have been embezzled, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said.

The commission said that the total was a very high rate of recovery compared to the global rate of recovered assets, and was the result of joint efforts and international collaborations.

The successful asset recovery proved that the MACC was committed to recovering the assets and its capability in doing so.

“It also reflects the effectiveness of the cooperation between the MACC and the Singapore Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) in tackling corruption and illegal money laundering,” the commission said in a statement today.

The assets returned so far amounted to RM14,670,676.61, including foreign currencies of SG$1,388,122.52, US$85,868.53, NZ$344,163.76 and AU$ 3,181,097.67.

“The funds have been deposited into the Finance Ministry’s Assets Recovery Trust Fund,” the MACC said, adding that RM12,974,730.41 was returned to the government from the sale of property and fund transfers from the company account belonging to Tan Kim Loong, a Malaysian linked to Low Taek Jho.

“The fund transfer to the Assets Recovery Trust Fund occurred on Feb 18, 2025, March 7, 2025 and March 10, 2025,” the commission said.

Besides this, RM1,695,946.20 was recovered from Yak Yew Chee, a former Singaporean bank officer convicted in Singapore for his involvement in the 1MDB scandal.

“The funds were credited to the Assets Recovery Trust Fund on Jan 21, 2024,” the MACC said, while reiterating its commitment to recover all embezzled national assets and cooperating with international authorities to tackle corruption related cases and financial crime.

GEORGE TOWN: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said today he has no information on a claim that fugitive financier Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, is living in Shanghai, China.

He said the home ministry would need to check on the claim about Low’s whereabouts.

“I have no information. We haven’t received any information on this,” he said briefly to reporters after the groundbreaking ceremony of Kompleks Madani at Teluk Kumbar.

Late yesterday, investigative journalists Bradley Hope and Tom Wright said Low, the alleged mastermind in the 1MDB scandal, is believed to be residing in a high-end neighbourhood in Shanghai and holding a fake Australian passport.

In a YouTube livestream, they said they had gathered evidence from various sources and newly uncovered documents which showed that Low is living in a mansion in Green Hills, an “ultra high-end neighbourhood” in Shanghai.

They said Low was using a fake Australian passport with the Greek name Constantinos Achilles Veis to hide his identity.

Hope and Wright also claimed that Low was now working as a “behind-the-scenes strategist for the Chinese government”. His role allegedly includes helping sanctioned companies from China “navigate difficulties around the world”.

The duo are former Wall Street Journal journalists who broke many of the key early 1MDB stories and co-wrote the book “Billion Dollar Whale” about the scandal.

Low, who has been charged in Malaysia and the US over allegations that he orchestrated the theft of US$4.5 billion from 1MDB, was previously said to be in Macau, although Beijing has denied protecting the fugitive financier.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 19, 2025: Investigative journalists Bradley Hope and Tom Wright claimed that they have evidence suggesting that fugitive financier Low Taek Jho (Jho Low) is holding a fake Australian passport with the name “Constantinos Achilles Veis”.

If that is true, why do you think the Polis di-Raja Malaysia and Interpol are unable to trace and arrest the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) key thief?

Are the Malaysian police and Interpol that inefficient and ignorant? God only knows?

Both the police and Interpol claim that they have been looking for Jho Low since the exposure of the humongous multi-billion (if not multi-trillion) Ringgit 1MDB financial scandal in 2015 (10 years ago).

If journalists can trace Jho Low with their limited resources, why are the police and Interpol still in the dark on the whereabouts of Jho Low?

The 1MDB mastermind, the disgraced and shameless former Malaysian prime minister and Umno president Najib “1MDB” Razak is now serving his jail sentence in Kajang Prison, and facing multiple ongoing charges of abuse of power and money laundering charges, but his henchman or right-hand man Jho Low is still roaming freely, possibly in Shanghai, with both the Polis di-Raja Malaysia and Interpol seemingly not interested to nab him for reasons beat known to them.

In February 2015, The Sunday Times and The Edge newspapers and Sarawak Report blog, referencing the leaked email correspondences and documents obtained by Rewcastle Brown, reported that Penang-based Jho Low, who has ties with Najib , siphoned out US$700 million from a joint venture deal between 1MDB and PetroSaudi …

Jho Low’s father Larry Low (who once controlled MWE Holdings) and mother are also on the run.

'Billion Dollar Whale' authors, Bradley Hope and Tom Wright say they have proof that Low Taek Jho is residing in a high-end neighbourhood in Shanghai.

PETALING JAYA: Fugitive financier Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, is allegedly residing in a high-end neighbourhood in Shanghai and holding a fake Australian passport, according to investigative journalists Bradley Hope and Tom Wright.

In a YouTube livestream yesterday, the duo said they gathered evidence from various sources and newly-uncovered documents which showed that Low is living in a mansion in Green Hills, an “ultra high-end neighbourhood” in Shanghai, China.

They added that Low was using a fake Australian passport with the Greek name “Constantinos Achilles Veis” to hide his identity, Variety reported.

Hope and Wright also claimed that Low was now working as a “behind-the-scenes strategist for the Chinese government”. His role allegedly includes helping sanctioned companies from China “navigate difficulties around the world”.

Hope and Wright are former Wall Street Journal journalists who broke many of the key early 1MDB stories and co-wrote the book “Billion Dollar Whale” about the scandal.

In March, it was reported that several investigative journalists and cryptocurrency enthusiasts had launched a meme coin bounty system in the latest effort to locate Low’s whereabouts.

Hope had said that the bounty system using the meme coin known as $JHOLOW was aimed at obtaining tip-offs on Low.

Describing it as a “grand experiment in participatory journalism”, Hope said it was a test to see whether a coin’s value can be driven not just by speculation, but by the value of information it helps uncover.

Information on Low’s whereabouts would be vetted by a team of moderators, with those who channel verified and useful tip-offs to be rewarded with the crypto token.

Different bounty amounts will be given depending on the value of information shared.

Low, who has been charged in Malaysia and the US over allegations that he orchestrated the theft of US$4.5 billion from 1MDB, was previously said to be in Macau, although Beijing has denied protecting the fugitive financier.

Jho Low living high-life in Shanghai, using Greek name, fake passport, claim journalists

FUGITIVE businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, is allegedly residing in an exclusive area of Shanghai, living a life of luxury despite being wanted for his role in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

In a livestream last night, Bradley Hope and Tom Wright claimed that Low was living in Green Hills, a super high-end neighbourhood.

He is allegedly using a fake Australian passport with a Greek name, Veis Constantinos Achilles, to get around while hiding his identity.

“He’s living in an ultra-high-end neighbourhood in Shanghai called Green Hills in a mansion, with luxury cars and travelling 15 minutes to his office at the Shanghai Financial Centre,” the pair claimed in their newsletter “Whale Hunting” last night.

They claimed that Jho Low is now acting as a strategic advisor to the Chinese government and his role involves assisting companies facing international sanctions to continue their global operations.

Low is the alleged mastermind behind the 1MDB scandal, in which at least US$4.5 billion (approximately RM19 billion) was misappropriated from the Malaysian sovereign wealth fund.

Last year, then Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said police were tracking down Low, but there were no leads on his whereabouts.

The US Department of Justice has previously stated that the stolen funds were used to acquire luxury real estate in the US, a private jet, a superyacht, high-value artworks, and to finance the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street.

An Interpol Red Notice was issued in 2018 against Low, who was charged in Malaysia and the US over allegations that he orchestrated the theft of US$4.5 billion from 1MDB. – July 19, 2025
