Ketuanan Dr M - a man who also shamelessly denies his ancestry

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27, 2024: What do you think of a man who denies his roots and refuses to admit to his ancestry?

And he is ashamed to admit to his roots or family tree.

In Malaysia, there is such a man and his name is Mahathir Mohamad whose grandfather is from India’s Kerala.

An interview that left Mahathir speechless

A wonderful interview that made people applaud!

A reporter from India's Thati TV asked Mahathir a question that no one dared to ask: Are you ashamed of your Indian ancestry?

Mahathir avoided the sharp question and answered: I am a Malay, I don't know that I have Indian ancestry.

The reporter said directly: But everyone knows that you have Indian ancestry. Can you deny that your ancestors are from India?

Mahathir muttered to himself: I speak Malay, I follow traditional Malay culture, I am 100% Malay.

According to investigation: Mahathir's grandfather came to Penang from Kerala, India, and settled down, married and had children.

Later, Mahathir's father married a Malay woman from Kedah, giving Mahathir a Malay identity. Indeed, he could not deny that his family came from Kerala, India.

Ahmad Zahid once joked that Mahathir's ID card name was Mahathir a/l Iskandar Kutty. Mahathir later sued him for defamation, and the case is scheduled to begin next month.

Mahathir did not deny that he had Indian ancestry during his early years as prime minister. Today, Mahathir denies his Indian ancestry.

This time, Mahathir has met his match.

This TV reporter from Tamil, India, is not as respectful to Mahathir as local reporters are, nor is he as worshipful and flattering to Mahathir as Japanese reporters are.

Mahathir claimed that Malaysia belongs to the Malays, not to non-Malays.

The reporter retorted that the Malaysian Constitution stipulates that Malaysia is a country for all citizens, not exclusively for Malays, and Mahathir's statement is not in line with the Constitution.

Mahathir insisted that Malaysian Indians speak Tamil and follow Hindu culture, so they do not belong to Malaysia.

The reporter again cited the constitution to refute: The Malaysian Constitution recognizes that minorities use their mother tongue and believe in their own religion, and does not force everyone to use a language or accept a culture.

Mahathir continued to defend himself, saying that non-Malays are immigrants who come here to live, and they cannot call themselves Malaysians.

The reporter asked him: You are also a descendant of immigrants, and you benefit from this background, but you claim that people with the same background as you are not Malaysians?

The reporter said that Malaysian Indians retain Indian culture, and Malaysian Chinese preserve Chinese culture, but they are proud of their own culture and love Malaysia deeply. What is the conflict?

Under the reporter's barrage, Mahathir was almost unable to resist. But Mahathir was shameless and still resisted to the end.

Mahathir claimed that as long as non-Malays do not accept assimilation, they will not be qualified to become Malaysians.

Mahathir hit a wall!

The reporter did not compromise and asked Mahathir: If you do not accept the diversity of Malaysia, then why did you cooperate with the Indian MIC and MCA when you were leading UMNO?

At this point, Mahathir was almost speechless and incoherent. The audience applauded and was very happy!

Mahathir has always been extreme in his remarks. Of course, he has the right to make any political imagination about himself.

But he should not base his imagination on other citizens, question the citizenship status of other non-Malays, and their loyalty to the country.

The horse stumbled and the old cat burned its whiskers. An awkward and embarrassing interview that could not be evasive put Mahathir in a dead end. He was forced to admit that he was Indian and lost face!

This black sheep!
