Why only MCMC action against the racial and religious bigoted PAS assemblyman?

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3, 2025: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has recorded a statement from PAS’ Manjoi assemblyman Hafez Sabri over a social media post on a security breach involving Sultan Nazrin Shah at the Perak state-level National Day celebration.

MCMC (also read as the so-called Madani Unity Government or UG) described the post as false and racially charged, saying it alleged that the woman who climbed the stage during the Aug 31 event was Chinese.

That’s well and good. But why are the police not taking any action, like arresting and investigating Hafez under a more serious charge like sedition?

Did Hafez not threaten national unity and harmony, making a mockery of the 3R (Race, Religion, Royalty)?

What is sedition:

Sedition is the crime of inciting rebellion or disorder against a government, often through words, writings, or actions that aim to create hatred, contempt, or disaffection towards it, or to promote ill-will between different groups within society. While not always explicitly defined, the concept is rooted in common law and involves an intent to encourage public disorder or insurrection, though its specific legal application and interpretation, like in Malaysia's Sedition Act 1948, can vary and have evolved over time.

If racial and religious bigoted politicians, like Hafez, is not treated seriously and made to face the full brunt of the laws, it will embolden such bigots to threaten national unity and harmony.

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has recorded a statement from PAS’s Manjoi assemblyman Hafez Sabri over a social media post on a security breach involving Sultan Nazrin Shah at the Perak state-level National Day celebration.

MCMC described the post as false and racially charged, saying it alleged that the woman who climbed the stage during the Aug 31 event was Chinese.

“As confirmed by Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department director, this allegation is untrue and has the potential to stir racial tension and create negative perceptions among the public,” it said in a statement today.

MCMC said Hafez’s statement was taken at the Bukit Aman police headquarters yesterday, in cooperation with the police.

It added that the case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a maximum fine of RM500,000, up to two years in jail, or both, upon conviction.

“MCMC stressed that the spread of false, racially charged content is a serious offence that threatens harmony and public order.

“The public is reminded to always verify the authenticity of information before creating or sharing any content on social media,” it said.

Police had clarified that the woman who rushed onto the stage and ran towards Sultan Nazrin was a 41-year-old Malay woman with a history of receiving psychiatric treatment.

She was detained after entering the stage from the side while the Perak anthem was being played.

Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the woman had been remanded until Wednesday, and that the case was being investigated for attempted grievous hurt under Section 325/511 of the Penal Code.

Hafez had deleted and apologised for his post, but claimed it was manipulated by “irresponsible parties” who circulated a screenshot before he corrected it within minutes.

DAP Youth wings in Penang and Negeri Sembilan later filed police reports against Hafez over the posting.

Why no police action against the racist PAS assemblyman?

Are the police and the so-called Madani Unity Government protecting this racist assemblyman? 48 hours after he made the false racist statement, he is still roaming freely? What are they waiting for?

Why no police action against the racist PAS assemblyman?

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2, 2025: Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) yesterday warned that Malaysia  must heed the warnings from Indonesia’s mass protests and avoid drifting into the same patterns of power abuse and democratic backsliding.

MUDA’s National Mobilisation Chief Rahmat Amran said the recent uprising of thousands of Indonesians who flooded the streets of Jakarta reflected a deep-rooted frustration with political overreach and an erosion of democratic norms.

“This is not merely a protest — it is the voice of a people fed up with the abuse of power and injustice,” Sinar Harian quoted him saying on Monday.

“The people are demanding that power must not be concentrated in the hands of a few, and laws should not be amended to protect those in power,” he added.

Take for instance the case of PAS’ Manjoi assemblyman Hafez Sabri who falsely accused a Chinese woman of trying to attack the Perak Sultan at a state-level Merdeka (Independence) parade on Sunday.Police have said the woman was not a Chinese but a 41-year-old Malay woman.

Although Hafezx have apologised for the error, the apology smacks of insincerity when he claimed that his statement was manipulated.

The fact is that he was clearly trying to use race to stir racial emotion.

Whether the woman was Chinese, Indian or Malay is immaterial. A criminal is a criminal, not by race.

So, what are the police waiting for?

Why has Hafez yet to be arrested? What is the 3R (Race, Religion, Royalty) for?

As Rahmat rightly pointed out, the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, which many view as emblematic of a system that failed to protect its citizens, is another case of attempting to protect those with political and powerful influence.

The second there is an incident, their gut reaction is to point the finger at the nons, no hesitation!
If Moon comes into power, the nons will pay a heavy political price!

MALAYSIA must heed the warnings from Indonesia’s mass protests and avoid drifting into the same patterns of power abuse and democratic backsliding, said Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) in a statement on Monday.

MUDA’s National Mobilisation Chief Rahmat Amran said the recent uprising of thousands of Indonesians who flooded the streets of Jakarta reflects a deep-rooted frustration with political overreach and an erosion of democratic norms.

“This is not merely a protest — it is the voice of a people fed up with the abuse of power and injustice,” Sinar Harian quoted him saying on Monday. “The people are demanding that power must not be concentrated in the hands of a few, and laws should not be amended to protect those in power.”

He drew parallels with Malaysia’s own societal discontent, citing the public response to the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, which many view as emblematic of a system that failed to protect its citizens.

“This is clear evidence that Malaysians, too, will no longer remain silent when lives, futures, and national dignity are undermined by negligence and dysfunction,” he said.

Rahmat criticised the Malaysian government and political elites for being more preoccupied with grand projects and luxury initiatives than with the real needs of the rakyat.

“History shows us that governments that forget the people will eventually be abandoned by them. The message is clear: when leaders become complacent, the people will rise,” he said.

He stressed that the widening gap between the governed and the governing can only be closed through public courage and accountability.

“Malaysia must not fall into the same fate. The people have a legitimate right to assemble, to gather, and to demand answers from those in power. Let us not submit to fear, threats, or attempts to silence our voices,” he added.

“Make no mistake — the voice of the people will never die, as long as justice is pursued.”

Meanwhile in Jakarta, police have confirmed that 1,240 individuals were detained for involvement in “anarchic” demonstrations between 25 and 31 August, many of whom were reportedly not Jakarta residents, but had travelled from neighbouring regions including West Java, Banten and Central Java.

Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri stated, “Since the beginning of the incident, we have detained around 1,240 people. Most of them came from outside Jakarta.”

Authorities have also identified suspects behind the vandalism and looting of public infrastructure, with damages including Transjakarta bus shelters, MRT stations and the city’s CCTV systems. Estimated losses have reached Rp55 billion (RM17.2 million).

Commander of Jakarta Military Command, Major General Deddy Suryadi, revealed that many of those involved were secondary and technical school students. He urged communities to work together in maintaining peace.

Officials reiterated that while firm action would be taken against those inciting violence, peaceful demonstrations remain protected under Indonesia’s constitutional rights. - Sept 1, 2025

PAS rep apologises over Facebook post on royal stage incident

Hafez Sabri says the initial post was based on early information and was later corrected.

Manjoi assemblyman Hafez Sabri, who lodged a police report, said ‘irresponsible parties’ had circulated a screenshot of his initial post before he corrected it.  (Facebook pic)

PETALING JAYA: PAS’s Manjoi assemblyman Hafez Sabri has apologised over a Facebook post on the security breach involving Sultan Nazrin Shah at the Perak state-level National Day celebration, after it went viral and drew criticism for being racially charged.

Hafez said his initial post, made based on early information, had wrongly identified the person involved.

However, he claimed that the post was manipulated by “irresponsible parties” who circulated a screenshot before he corrected it within minutes. The post has since been deleted.

“Unfortunately, irresponsible parties took a screenshot of my initial Facebook post almost instantly and spread it widely, pushing a narrative as if I was playing the racial card,” he said in another Facebook post today.

He said he had no intention of raising racial or ethnic issues, adding that security breaches cannot be condoned regardless of who was responsible.

“I apologise for my error in this matter … as a human being, I, too, am not free from mistakes,” he said.

He said he had lodged a police report over the matter.

Police had earlier confirmed that the woman who rushed onto the stage and ran towards Sultan Nazrin was a 41-year-old Malay woman, dismissing claims that she was Chinese.

The woman, who has a history of psychiatric treatment, was detained by security after she entered the stage from the side during the Perak anthem.

Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the woman has been remanded until Wednesday, and the case is being investigated for attempted grievous hurt under Section 325/511 of the Penal Code.

DAP Youth wings in Penang and Negeri Sembilan have since filed police reports against Hafez over the posting.
