KUALA LUMPUR, July 7, 2023: Malaysia’s ‘Public Enemy No.1’ Dr Mahathir Mohamad(Dr M) has branded Prime Minister (PM) Anwar Ibrahim as a “pathological liar”.
Is this a case of “the pot calling the kettle black” (a feature of most politicians) or a forked-tongue 97-year-old having his true political agenda and past exposed to all Malaysians.
No News Is Bad News has branded Dr M as “Public Enemy No.1) for his ridiculous claim that promoting Malaysia as a multi-racial-multi-religious country is unconstitutional.
That means only race matters to the man who served Malaysia as PM for a total of 26 years and is now resorting to racial and religious slurs to destroy national unity and harmony.
Using his so-called Malay Declaration, which the Taliban-like PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN) are supporting (and that includes the so-called multi-racial Gerakan which is dreaming to make comeback in Penang), Dr M’s game plan is to destroy Umno, create political instability and topple the Anwar-led Unity Government that comprises 19 parties.

Anwar Ibrahim served in Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s administration as finance minister from 1991 to 1998 and as deputy prime minister from 1993 to 1998.
SHAH ALAM: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad claims Anwar Ibrahim has the traits of a “pathological liar” following the contradictory positions Anwar has taken now as prime minister compared to when he served as Mahathir’s deputy in the 1990s.
Mahathir said it was illogical for Anwar to now assert that he had abused his power as prime minister between July 1981 and October 2003 by sanctioning bailouts when the latter had himself denied allegations of such abuse 25 years ago.
“Based on this revelation, it clearly shows that the defendant (Anwar) has the traits of a pathological liar for taking a different stand before and now,” said Mahathir in reply to a defence statement Anwar filed last month.
Mahathir, 97, filed a RM150 million suit in May against Anwar over statements calling Mahathir a racist and saying he had enriched his family while in office.
In a reply filed by solicitors Law Practice of Rafique yesterday and sighted by FMT, Mahathir pointed out that Anwar had defended him within and outside Parliament over several allegations that he had sanctioned bailouts.
Among them was a buyout of Konsortium Perkapalan Bhd (KPB), then owned by Mahathir’s son Mirzan, by Petronas and Malaysia International Shipping Corporation (MISC). KPB (now known as Pos Logistics Bhd) was one of the local companies affected by the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis.
Anwar was Mahathir’s deputy from 1993 to 1998 and finance minister from 1991 to 1998.
He was sacked from the government and Umno in 1998 for alleged sexual misconduct for which he was convicted and spent six years in jail. The Federal Court eventually cleared him of the charge in 2004.
Mahathir also said that since 1998, Anwar had been building a perception among the public that he had proof that Mahathir had abused his power but failed to back his claim. This includes Anwar’s claim earlier this year, which is the subject matter of the defamation suit.
He said his lawyers wrote to Anwar’s solicitors two weeks ago asking to be furnished with 21 documents referred to in Anwar’s defence, but claimed the request was refused on flimsy grounds.
“His defence did not reveal that I enriched myself,’ Mahathir said, adding that the relief sought in his suit should be allowed.

Save Umno for multi-racial Malaysia to survive
KUALA LUMPUR, July 4, 2023: Malaysia’s “No.1 Public Enemy”, Dr Mathathir Mohamad (Dr M), has unwittingly exposed his political game plan to turn Malaysia into a “Malay state”.
How else to see his aggressive racial and religious rhetoric, to the extend that he is now saying promoting a peaceful and harmonious multi-racial Malaysia is unconstitutional?
And his political game plan is to wipe out Umno which won only 26 seats in the 222-seat Parliament in the 15th General Election (GE15).
All Umno seats are Malay-majority seats and if Umno loses all, then Dr M will realise his target of “installing” a Taliban-like federal government led by PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN).
What is going to happen to Malaysia then? Is it a wonder, then, that the country is struggling to attract both domestic and foreign investors, hence the fast weakening Ringgit.
And political stability is the No.1 concern for investors.
No wonder PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin and PAS president Hadi Awang are “talking big” and even “bragging” about taking Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan in the six state elections next month.
The other states to hold elections are Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
Mind you, Dr M, PAS and PN are not dreaming and their game plan needs to be thought carefully and taken seriously by law-abiding Malaysians who wish to continue living in a multi-racial enviroment that is peaceful, harmonious and prosperous.
With Malaysia saddled with a more than RM1.5 trillion national debt, it may make Dr M, PAS and PN’s task of toppling the Anwar Ibrahim-led Unity Government (UG) that much easier.
The results of GE15 in November (2022), points to the political reality that multi-racial Malaysia is facing.

And that is why Dr M, PAS and PN leaders want to ride on the GE15 so-called “Green Wave” and build on keep its momentum until the next GE to topple the UG.
To further strengthen the Green Wave, Dr M has rallied PAS and PN under his “Malay Proclamation” in the guise of defending the status and position of Malays.
That is already obvious and a political reality.
Malaysians must, therefore, take the Taliban-like PAS threat seriously to keep Malaysia as a multi-racial country or nation.
To do that, all law-abiding Malaysians who treasure their future must discard their emotion, forget the past and unite politically.
There are only two ways for Malaysians to counter Dr M’s game plan for PAS and PN:
> VOTE to keep Umno alive and relevant for multi-racial Malaysia; and
> REJECT the opportunist PN who have no heart for the well-being of rakyat dan negara (people and country).
This is why the six state elections are seen as a referendum on the UG.
If Dr M, PAS and PN achieve their political agenda in the state elections, then political instability will rule and, perhaps, Anwar’s UG will collapse.
The fact and political reality: GE15 concluded with a hung 222-seat Parliament with the Taliban-like PAS winning 49 seats, DAP 40, PKR 31, Umno 26, Bersatu 25 and PBB 14.
Any further further political deterioration for UG (also read as Umno) will be “fatal to multi-racial Malaysia”.
The fate of Malaysia thus lies in the hands of Malaysians who will cast their ballots next month.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4, 2023: Legal experts have reportedly opined that Dr Mahathir Mohamad has misunderstood the Federal Constitution by claiming that promoting a multi-ethnic country goes against the Constitution.
However, that does not mean Malaysians can just ignore it and not act through the ballots to reject Dr M, the Taliban-like PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the six state elections next month (August 2023).
They must treat Dr M’s “constitutional garbage” seriously as it is an integral past of his political plan and agenda to win Malay voters, aimed at installing Taliban-like governments led by PAS and PN.
And peace-loving Malaysians who wish to continue living in a peaceful and harmonious multi-racial-multi-religious Malaysia must face political reality and the threat coming from racial and religious bigots from both sides of the political divide, especially from the Opposition.
Malaysians have no choice and must make a wise choice when they drop their ballots into the boxes at every election - for their and to ensure their future.
They have to forget the past and unite against the bigots when they go to cast their ballots.
Remember this: Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.
And whether you voted or did not bother to do so, the elected governments of the day will govern you, whether you like it or not.
So the choice is in your (Malaysians’) hands - allow the Talibanisation of PAS-led governments or a parliamentary democracy to continue to flourish for the future.

PETALING JAYA: Legal experts say former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has misunderstood the Federal Constitution by claiming that promoting a multi-ethnic country goes against the constitution.
Constitutional lawyer Bastian Pius Vendargon said Mahathir’s claim was incorrect as Article 8 of the constitution states that all persons are equal before the law and entitled to equal protection.
He also said the constitution does not seek to impose “Malayness” on others or exclude people of different ethnic backgrounds, although it recognised Malay rights and Islam’s special position.
“Just because it doesn’t say anywhere in the Federal Constitution that Malaysia is a multi-ethnic society doesn’t mean it is not,” said Vendargon.
Mahathir has defended his claim, via a Twitter post, against criticism that he was playing with racial sentiments. He said he was only defending the constitution by citing its provisions.
Vendargon said a fundamental principle of parliamentary democracy – that of the separation of powers between the executive, legislature, and the judiciary – was not stated in the constitution.
“If you read it from cover to cover, you will never find it stated there,” he said. “Yet it has repeatedly been said in Federal Court decisions that when you analyse and appreciate the full depth of the Federal Constitution, it is quite clear that the separation of powers is part of Malaysia’s Westminster-modelled constitution,” he told FMT.
He said special privileges did not apply only to the Malays but also to certain other groups of people, namely the Bumiputeras, the natives of Sabah and Sarawak, as well as the aboriginal people in West Malaysia.
“So, if you look at that, you will appreciate that the entire reading of the Federal Constitution and understanding the fabric of the constitution in depth will tell you that Malaysia recognises every one of its citizens and has given them all the various rights.”
Philip Koh, an adjunct professor at Universiti Malaya, described Mahathir’s interpretation of the constitution as a “travesty”.
Koh said the constitution promotes a democracy that is conducive to building a multi-ethnic country, while recognising the role of Islam and the Malay’s rights.
“However, these constitutional recognitions do not negate the fact that, on the whole, the Federal Constitution is meant to protect a liberal democratic (political landscape).
“I’m not saying that valid contestations do not arise in any one instance as to how the constitution is interpreted, but to say that promoting multi-ethnic constitutional order is unconstitutional is a travesty of any interpretive approach (to the constitution).
“The Reid and Cobbold commissions, backdrop of Merdeka and formation of Malaysia, all affirm that we are a liberal democracy and not a race-based autocracy,” he said.
Koh said those espousing a misinterpretation of the constitution could cause unease among the people and be detrimental to the nation’s well-being.

Dr M bringing down Malaysia to the doldrums?
KUALA LUMPUR, July 5, 2023: Bapa Merdeka, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman (Tunku) and Malaysia’s First Prime Minister (PM), was an amazing leader who could see through people accurately and clearly.
Tunku, the man who led Malaysians to achieve Merdeka (Independence) on Aug 31, 1957, from the British colonialists had said Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Dr M) alone would bring down Malaysia.
Dr M had served one term as MP before losing his seat, subsequently falling out with the Tunku, and was expelled from Umno.
In 1970, he authored the controversial “The Malay Dilemma” during this period, which would eventually form the basis of future ethnic Malay affirmative action policies in the country.
The Tunku resigned in 1970 and was succeeded by Tun Abdul Razak (father of disgraced former ‘1MDB’ prime minister Najib who is currently languishing in prison).
Razak encouraged Dr Mahathir back into the party and appointed him as a Senator in 1973. He rose quickly in the Razak government, returning to Umno’s Supreme Council in 1973. He was appointed to Cabinet in 1974 as Education Minister.
He went on to serve a total of 26 years as prime minister for three times.
At 97 and shamed by Malaysians in the 15th General Election (GE15) when they rejected him, and his followers, to the extend of losing their deposits.
But the stubborn old man knows no shame, and is ungrateful to the rakyat dan negara (people and country) that gave him the opportunity to serve as PM for 26 years.
He absolutely does not know how to quit politics with grace as a statesman and ha now become Malaysia’s “No.1 Public Enemy”.
Dr M is leading the Opposition (specifically the Taliban-like PAS and Muhyiddin Yassin’s Perikatan Nasional - PN) under his “Malay Proclamtion” rally to sow racial and religious discord, aimed at destabilising and toppling Anwar Ibrahim’s Unity Government that was installed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) last November (2022).
He is making all types of racial and religious rhetoric to split Malaysians or National Unity for his personal political agenda. And he has gone the extreme to declare that it is unconstitutional to promote a multi-racial-multi-religious Malaysia.
Dr M even has the audacity to blame the UG, which has governed for only about seven months, for the people and country’s current socio-economic woes.
Has Dr M asked himself who is to blame for:
> MALAYSIA’s current national debt of more than RM1.5 trillion; and
> THE Malays’ lack of progress in education and business acumen and that he had lamented as the cause of the community’s inability to compete on a level playing field, even after almost 60 years of Merdeka.
As the longest-serving PM in Malaysia’s history, why is the rakyat, namely the Malays, still far behind others?
In terms of economic and financial status, why is Malaysia so far behind others - no need to look far, just look at Singapore.
Anwar, PH and DAP to blame for all the current woes?
Dr M, are you considering this: Should you and the Opposition succeed in toppling the UG, the country will be plunged in socio-economic abyss, and Malaysians and the Malays will suffer for decades.
Any country needs political stability to command the confidence of and attract both domestic and foreign investors.
Can a Taliban-like federal government dominated by PAS deliver socio-economic progress for rakyat dan negara?
To Malaysians going to the polls in the six states (Penang, Selangor Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu), they cannot afford to cast their ballots without giving serious thought on the future of their generations and their county.
Their and Malaysia’s fate lie in their hands, that’s reality. At the end of the day, do not blame others for the governments that you elect.

PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin have met to discuss the agenda to unite the Malay community, says Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan.
The Malay Proclamation secretariat chairman said the almost two-hour long meeting between the two was to ensure the continuity of the struggle to empower the Malay community.
He added that the two leaders had set aside their political differences and agreed to promote the Malay Proclamation movement.
"Indeed, the non-partisan Malay Proclamation movement will also open its doors to any enthusiastic Malays who are willing to unite regardless of their respective political ideologies," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 5)
He did not go into the details about what was discussed by Mahathir and Muhyiddin.
Khairuddin also said that the Malay Proclamation movement is not based on party lines but on the struggle and spirit of Malays alone.
"We only seek to discuss and resolve Malay issues based on the rights of the Malays as enshrined in the Federal Constitution," he said, adding that it will not allow any infringement upon the rights of other communities in the country in an unconstitutional manner.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Bersatu president, had previously said that he was prepared to work with his former colleague-turned-rival Dr Mahathir after the latter extended an olive branch to him.
“I welcome Dr Mahathir’s statement that he is willing to cooperate with me. I am aware of recent political developments that put the Malays and Muslims in this country at tough crossroads,” Muhyiddin said.
Dr Mahathir and Muhyiddin founded Bersatu together in 2016 and the party joined the Pakatan Harapan coalition which then came to federal power in the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018.
They parted ways when the Pakatan government was brought down by the Sheraton Move in February 2020, which saw Muhyiddin taking the party out of the coalition despite protests from Dr Mahathir.
Dr Mahathir resigned as the prime minister and Bersatu chairman and was sacked from the party three months later for not supporting the Muhyiddin-led Perikatan government.
Both led rival coalitions that contested against each other in GE15, with Muhyiddin heading Perikatan and Dr Mahathir helming the now defunct Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA).

PETALING JAYA: Lim Kit Siang has rebutted Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s views on the Federal Constitution and multiculturalism, with the DAP stalwart quoting an excerpt from the former prime minister’s book published in 2021.
Referring to Mahathir’s book, “Capturing Hope – The Struggle for a New Malaysia”, the former Iskandar Puteri MP quoted a paragraph in which Mahathir had taken a swipe at Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin when he alluded to “those who desire to be seen as Malay-first…and this enabled them to promote a Malay-Muslim government.”
Muhyiddin, the then deputy prime minister, had in 2010 declared he was “Malay first” when responding to Lim’s challenge to state whether he was Malay or Malaysian first.
Lim said that Mahathir had, in his book, stated that it was impossible to set up a Malay-Muslim government.
Mahathir had argued that this was because over 30% of the population comprised non-Malays.
The former Langkawi MP went on to say that the “Malay-Muslim government of Perikatan Nasional under Muhyiddin actually depended on non-Malays to survive”.
Lim then said: “But these are no more his views”.
On Monday, Mahathir claimed that promoting a multi-ethnic country went against the Federal Constitution.
Mahathir also questioned whether the current government is disregarding the rule of law as Malaysia was never described as a multi-ethnic nation in the Federal Constitution.
“Instead, the Federal Constitution emphasises the ‘Malayness’ of Malaysia,” he said.
Lim today said that Mahathir’s stance on the constitution differed when the latter announced Vision 2020 and its nine strategic challenges.
Back then, Lim said, Mahathir was of the view that the Malaysian Constitution was that of a multiracial Malaysia.
“Mahathir has proved to be quite a political chameleon."
