Local government development minister Nga Kor Ming has asked authorities to look into amending certain council by-laws.

PETALING JAYA: Local government development minister Nga Kor Ming has urged the Kota Bharu Municipal Council (MPKB) to look into amending certain local council by-laws to prevent instances of non-Muslims running afoul of the by-laws.

Nga said he has asked the director-general of the local government department, Noor Ihsan, to hold discussions with Kota Bharu mayor Rosnazli Amin to see if it is possible to amend any of the council’s by-laws.

He said this was to prevent incidents such as the one involving a hair salon from recurring.

On July 9, the council fined a hair salon owner in Kota Bharu RM100 for allowing a female worker to cut the hair of a Muslim male customer.

Nga said Malaysia was a multiracial country and that mutual respect was important to preserve harmony.

“Local council by-laws which go against the spirit of the Federal Constitution should be avoided,” he told reporters after an event.

“Last month, a shop owner was fined for wearing shorts in her own shop. It is a private premise and the shop sells shorts, yet she isn’t allowed to wear them.

“What is she supposed to do? How does she do business or earn a living? The PAS-led Kelantan government must be more understanding.”

He was referring to the case involving a 35-year-old non-Muslim who was fined by the council for wearing “indecent clothing”.

Then, Rosnazli said the woman committed an offence under Section 34(2)(b) of the Business and Industrial Trade By-Laws 2019, which states that non-Muslim business owners and their non-Muslim employees must wear “decent clothes”.

Muhyiddin asked: “How can I say I Am Malaysian First”. And, why not?

Muhyiddin ‘I Am Malay First’ Yassin: Stop the bullshitting

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16. 2023: Malaysians are already having a taste of Afghanistan’s Taliban -government rule in Kelantan, Kedah and Perlis.

The three PAS-ruled states have enacted local government “Islamic laws” that cover non-Muslims.

Using their local government by-laws, the local councils in the states are used as a “backdoor” to impose Islamic values on non-Muslims.

Coming from the back of a Chinese businesswoman who was fined by the Kota Bharu Municipal Council (MPKB) for wearing shorts in her shop, a woman hairdresser or barber was compounded for cutting the hair of a Muslim man last week.

It is not known whether the man was also fined.

And Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said a PN Government would be fair and equal to everyone and ensure the nation’s well-being,

Is that so, “I Am Malay First” Muhyiddin? Then what is happening in Kelantan?

Muhyiddin had retorted: “How can I say I Am Malaysian First”. And, No News Is Bad News asks, why not? As an ethic Chinese Malaysian, I have no problem, whatsoever, to say, “I Am Malaysian First!”.

Is race above loyalty to the King and country? Have you forgotten the Rukun Negara?

Till today, Muhyiddin has yet to retract and apologise to Malaysians and Malaysia for saying he is not Malaysian First.

One then wonders how loyal is he to the rakyat dan negara (people and country).

He also said the public need not worry about the “green wave” which has been alleged to be similar to the Taliban’s ruling style.

So, Mr “I Am Malay First”, stop the bullshit that Malaysians have been hearing from racial and religious bigots for decades, since Merdeka (Independence) 1957) that you are associated with, like Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PAS.

PETALING JAYA: The Kota Bharu Municipal Council (MPKB) has fined a hair salon owner RM100 for allowing her female worker to cut the hair of a Muslim male customer.

The incident occurred at the female owner’s premises located in the town last week.

Kelantan Federation of Chinese Associations president Oie Poh Choon said the salon owner paid her fine to the council four days ago.

“I accompanied the woman to MPKB’s office to settle her fine and she admitted committing the offence.

“She acknowledged her mistake and claimed she had forgotten the by-laws,” he said.

Oie was quoted by the New Straits Times as saying that the woman was found to have breached the council’s by-laws which dictate that non-Muslim female hairdressers are not allowed to offer haircut services to Muslims of the opposite sex.

He said he hoped that MPKB would brief salon owners on its existing rules as many seemed to have forgotten them.

“Before we go any further, it’s important to note that this is not a new regulation. To be safe, we just have to follow the rules to avoid unwanted consequences,” he said.

It is learnt that the female worker of the salon had cut the hair of the male customer who went there with his family members last week. The salon was issued a compound notice by MPKB’s enforcement officers.

This incident comes a month after a non-Muslim boutique owner was fined for breaching the council’s by-laws on “indecent clothing” for wearing shorts at her shop.

SHAH ALAM – The government led by Perikatan Nasional (PN) will be fair and equal to everyone and ensure the nation’s well-being, said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The PN chief said the public need not worry about the “green wave” which has been alleged to be similar to the Taliban’s ruling style.

“I know there are fears that the PN or PAS government will bear similarities or be even worse than the Taliban’s rule.

“I know what is meant by the Taliban and I have heard about it.

“Rest assured, PN will be a very fair government,” he said during a Q&A at the Professional Convention 2.0 at the IDCC here, today.

Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, said there was also nothing to worry about the “green wave”, so-called due to its relation to PAS’ logo.

“Have no worries about the so-called ‘green wave’. I do not even know where that phrase came from,” he said.

Six states, Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah, Penang, Negri Sembilan, and Selangor will be holding their elections on August 12.

PN will maintain the PAS logo for Kelantan and Terengganu, while the PN logo will be used for the other four states. – The Vibes, July 15, 2023
