PH’s victory but Malaysians’ loss

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11, 2024: It is a victory for Pakatan Harapan (PH)-DAP in the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election but not for Malaysians who love national unity and harmony.

Malaysians, especially the KKB voters, failed to rise to seize the opportunity to teach PH a lesson for failing to act against racial and religious bigots and for condoning corruption, like giving the disgraced and shameless former prime minister Najib “1MDB” Razak a partial pardon, and is now considering “freeing him” or a backdoor freedom in placing him under house arrest.

And Najib’s wife, Rosmah “Fat Mama” Mansor is being sued by 1Malaysia Berhad (1MDB) and its subsidiaries for allegedly using the so-called Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) to buy more than RM1.6 billion in luxury goods for herself.

Yes! It is a real loss for Malaysians as the so-called Anwar Ibrahim’s Madani Unity Government (UG) is now unlikely to reform and punish the racial and religious bigots like Umno youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh.

So, Malaysians, especially KKB voters, you have chosen to provide “blind support” to PH, so be it. You have, therefore, no grounds to complain the governance of the UG.

You deserve the governments you support.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the Unity Government on the DAP candidate’s victory in Saturday's (May 11) Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) state by-election.

Based on unofficial results, Pakatan's candidate Pang Sock Tao has successfully defended the seat in the four-cornered contest.

"Saudara (DAP secretary-general) Anthony Loke, congratulations on the victory in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election... a fight to victory... (and) now we defend that win,” he said.

Anwar, who is also PKR president, was speaking at PKR’s 25th anniversary celebration at Sentul Depot here tonight.

The KKB seat fell vacant following the death of incumbent Lee Kee Hiong, 58, of DAP on March 21 due to cancer.

Meanwhile, Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, based on the unofficial results, also congratulated Pang.

In a Facebook post, he said Pang won the state seat with a bigger majority. - The Star

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan’s expected victory in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election means triple the joy for the unity government with PKR and Umno marking their anniversaries today, PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said.

Speaking at PKR’s 25th anniversary carnival at the Sentul Depot here, Fahmi said the victory added to what was already an exciting night.

The celebrations were supposed to be held earlier but were delayed because of Ramadan. “But tonight seems like a pretty good night to hold our 25th anniversary celebration, since it happens to be Umno’s 78th anniversary today and we won in Kuala Kubu Baharu. It’s triple (the) happiness,” he told reporters.

Fahmi acknowledged that the government has yet to achieve many things PH had talked about in the past, but said reforms cannot be implemented in a hurry. There must first be strong economic fundamentals before major changes can be introduced.

Ballots cast in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election were still being counted as he spoke, with official results expected before 10pm. The final turnout of voters is estimated to be just above 60%.

Unofficial results as at 8.42pm show that PH’s Pang Sock Tao has won 14,000 votes while her closest rival Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut has garnered 10,135 votes.

The late Lee Kee Hiong of DAP defended the seat at the state assembly elections in August last year, winning with a majority of 4,119 votes to defeat Perikatan Nasional’s Henry Teoh of Gerakan.

A Singapore Straits Times May 11 news report on the wife of disgraced and shameless former ptrimer minister Najib “1MDB” Razak.

1MDB goes after its Fat Mama who allegedly used RM1.6 billion to buy herself luxury goods

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11, 2024: Now it’s Rosmah Mansor, wife of digraced and shameless former prime minister Najib Razak, who is making international news headlines on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial scandal.

1MDB, SRC International Sdn Bhd and other subsidiaries have taken legal action against Rosmah for allegedly stealing more than US$350 million (RM1.6 billion) from them to buy luxury goods.

They are now going after their former Fat Mama who they once feared.

Imagine how RM1.6 billion could have been used to help rural Malays. But, unfortunately for the rural Malays and Umno, they have no idea what RM1.6 billion is? The number of zeros in RM1.6 billion is just too blinding for them to see.

1MDB, SRC take legal action against Rosmah over US$350 mil luxury goods

Rosmah, Shabnam Naraindas Daswani named as defendants

Updated 16 hours ago · Published on 10 May 2024 5:33PM

SEVERAL companies have taken legal action against Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor for allegedly obtaining luxury goods through misappropriated funds to the tune of US$350 million, The Edge reported.

The plaintiffs claim that jewellery, watches and handbags were obtained from funds from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), SRC International Sdn Bhd and other subsidiaries.

According to court documents filed on May 9, Rosmah, along with Shabnam Naraindas Daswani (also known as Natasha Mirpuri), were named as defendants.

The plaintiffs claimed that Shabnam Naraindas had purchased or procured the luxury items on behalf of the wife of imprisoned former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The plaintiffs' lawyers from Messrs Lim Chee Wee Partnership in their pleadings filed that a total of 320 such payments totalling US$346,010,489 were made.

The plaintiffs want Rosmah to return any of these items in her possession and to pay a sum of US$346,010,489, or an amount to be assessed by the court.

They also want the second defendant to pay them a sum to be determined by the court.

Case management for the matter has been set for May 24.

Last year, a jeweller from Lebanon sued Rosmah demanding she pay US$14.6 million (RM67.5 million) for violating a contract for 43 pieces of jewellery sent to her five years ago.

Global Royalty Trading SAL, based in Beirut, in its statement of claim, said Rosmah, 71, had lied in her affidavit and statement of defence by saying the jewellery – including diamond necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets and tiaras sent to her by the company’s agent – were seized by Malaysian authorities for offences under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.– May 10, 2024.
