KUALA LUMPUR, June 1, 2025: The useless No. 1 Umno “political lapdog” MCA president Wee Ka Siong is always seen barking and biting himself.
Without using his given brains, he started criticising the Government’s implementation of subsidised cooking gas cyclinders.
And now, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Armizan Mohd Ali has reminded Wee that the rule requiring a permit for use of more than three 14kg cylinders at one time was introduced in 2021, when Wee was a member of the Cabinet.
As usual, padan muka (shame on you) to you, cry baby Wee. Oops! “Shame” is not in Wee and MCA’s dictionary!

PETALING JAYA: Domestic trade and cost of living minister Armizan Mohd Ali has taken a swipe at MCA president Wee Ka Siong for criticising the ministry’s enforcement of quotas for cooking gas cylinders at eateries.
Armizan reminded Wee that the rule requiring a permit for use of more than three 14kg cylinders at one time was initially introduced in 2021, when Wee was a member of the Cabinet.
He said the current government was merely enforcing that rule and has not introduced any new regulations regarding subsidised cylinders of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
“There are no new policies or regulations, let alone any cutting or abolishing of government subsidies for LPG cylinders,” Armizan said in a statement.
“The regulation was enacted under the previous government, which as I recall, Wee was a minister at the time. Perhaps he overlooked it since it was another ministry’s policy. Wee should have provided his opposition to the new rule at that time,” he added.
Wee had been critical of a nationwide operation on LPG cylinders, to combat the misuse and leakage of subsidised LPG, particularly by commercial and industrial users.
Armizan had said the operation was aimed at tackling the use of subsidised LPG by non-eligible sectors, as well as illegal decanting of gas from subsidised cylinders to non-subsidised ones before being sold at a profit.
Wee and several opposition MPs criticised the enforcement operation, claiming it burdened small businesses as they would be forced to switch to commercial LPG cylinders that cost nearly RM70 each – almost three times the subsidised rate.
In a Facebook video earlier today, Wee said limiting the use of subsidised LPG cylinders for food premises would drive up food costs and burden consumers.
However, Armizan said only businesses that use more than three 14kg cylinders, or over 42kg of LPG, at any one time are required to obtain a scheduled controlled goods permit.
“It is not true that all hawkers and traders are prohibited from using subsidised LPG cylinders,” he maintained.
Armizan reiterated that the enforcement of the law was aimed at ensuring the subsidised LPG were being delivered in a targeted manner and to avoid it being exploited by high-end restaurants.

Malaysians seeing purple nationwide
KUALA LUMPUR, May31, 2025: If the above image is really what cooked food and hot drinks operators are resorting to, Malaysia will soon run out of Petronas green-coloured cooking gas cylinders or tanks.
And the dilemma is caused by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s so-called Madani Unity Government (UG).
The green coloured domestic gas cooking tanks cost only RM26 but the purple costs RM70 each.
Although Malaysia is the fifth largest producer of LNG, the UG is forcing the rakyat to pay more for cooking gas, cooked food and hot drinks and triggering the domino effects on inflation.

Malaysia is the world’s fifth-largest LNG exporter, with Sarawak contributing close to 90% of Malaysia’s LNG exports.
And, yet, the so-called Madani Unity Government (UG) is now hiking prices of cooked food and hot drinks by banning eateries and food operators from using domestic gas cylinders (RM26 per cylinder), forcing them to use the commercial cooking gas cylinders that cost RM70 per cylinder!
You do not need the brain of a rocket scientist to foresee what is going to happen to the prices of cooked food and hot drinks, and the domino effects on inflation.
To Anwar Ibrahim’s UG, Petronas’ profits or revenue bottom line overrides the needs of Malaysians to put food on the table daily for their loved ones.

Fact 1. Malaysia is the world’s fifth-largest LNG exporter, with Sarawak contributing close to 90% of Malaysia’s LNG exports, primarily from the Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak, which delivered 403 LNG cargoes in 2023 out of a national total of 441
Fact 2. According to Putrajaya, as of 2023, Sarawak accounts for 60.87% of Malaysia’s total proven and probable petroleum reserves, while Sabah contributes 18.8%, totalling approximately 79.67% combined. This indicates S/S outsized role in Malaysia’s hydrocarbon resources
Fact 3. Based on reserve shares (79.67% combined) and infrastructure capacities, Sabah and Sarawak likely account for 70–80% of Malaysia’s total oil and gas production (measured in barrels of oil equivalent). Sarawak’s dominance in gas (90% of LNG exports) and Sabah’s strong oil output (up to 40% of crude) drive this estimate. The remaining 20–30% comes from Peninsular Malaysia, primarily Terengganu, where production has halved from 700,000 b/d to 350,000 b/d over the past decade
So there is truth to the saying that one tower was paid by Sabah and the other tower by Sarawak. Yet TDM is not happy that S/S asking for bigger slice of O/G. Remember, since 1974 (half century), federal Govt receives 90% of the O/G revenue.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 29, 2025: The so-called Madani Unity Government (UG) has barred food operators from using household subsidised gas cylinders.
So, food operators and eateries will now need to pay RM70 per cylinder instead of RM26!
You don’t need the brain of a rocket scientist to foresee what will happen to the cost of cooked food in eateries, hawker centres and stalls nationwide, including hot drinks in coffee shops.
Malaysians are now asking, why is the Government giving away multi-million Ringgit of tax-payers money to Palestinians (read as Hamas terrorist supporters) and foreigners in aid instead of helping to ease the cost of living of the majority of Malaysians who are struggling to put food on the table daily for their loved ones.
What is the justification for forcing the prices of cooked food and hot drinks up for Malaysia when Malaysia is an oil and gas producer?

PETALING JAYA: As of May 1, all eateries, including hawker stalls, have been barred from using household subsidised gas cylinders.
Instead, they have to use new purple 14kg commercial gas cylinders, which cost RM70 – almost three times the price of household subsidised gas cylinders, which are sold at just RM26.
Industry players are also required to apply for a yearly permit if they want to have more than three such cylinders.
The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry is now cracking down to ensure that the food and beverage industry complies.
On May 1, the ministry kickstarted Ops Gasak to combat the misuse of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) subsidies. Since then, officers have seized RM883,000 worth of goods from eateries deemed to have broken the rules.
On May 23, minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, who said the LPG subsidy cost the government RM3.4bil, clarified that premises using more than 42kg of LPG - or more than three cyclinders - must apply for a permit under the regulations of the Control of Supplies (Amendment) Act 2021.
The government had planned the switch to commercial gas in 2019 but had put the enforcement on hold.
Industry players, however, are still unclear about the requirements surrounding the implementation, warning that a switch to commercial gas could lead to a new round of price hikes.
Petaling Jaya Coffeeshop Association president Keu Kok Meng said they are willing to comply with the implementation, but what comes with the switch to the more expensive gas must be made clear.
“The government must announce what comes with the switch of gas cylinders. This is because food at coffeeshops are priced competitively low. This change will affect our costs.
“We understand where the government is coming from but give us time to change and adapt,” he told The Star, adding that they have been given notice by their gas suppliers to apply for permits.
He added that based on a survey of a noodle shop selling 70 bowls using two cylinders in a day, the price of noodles will see an increase of more than RM1 per bowl.
Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners’ Association (Primas) president Govindasamy Jayabalan said they have written to the ministry to seek clarification on the matter.
He also urged the ministry to give them some room to adapt instead of issuing summons or seizing items in their operations.
“The 50kg commercial gas cylinder was not practical to be placed inside the premises, so the 14kg commercial gas cylinder is a good move but the cost is high.
“On average, a small restaurant uses about 100 cylinders per month, so that comes to RM2,600, but now we will have to fork out RM7,000. So, you can see that cost will eventually translate to the price of food.
“We don’t mind the switch but we urge the ministry and the government to hear our pleas, especially with the increase in the cost of raw materials. We were able to accommodate when they removed the egg subsidy, but this is too high,” he said.
From May 1-20, a total of 74 cases were recorded with a seizure value of RM 883,000, the ministry’s enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said.
He added that the ministry would use enforcement to ensure no one diverts subsidised goods meant for the people.
