This week, cover the PETROS and PETRONAS debacle that has since been resolved, drawing from Idris' perspective as a Sarawakian, a former Shell executive, a board member of MLNG and as a former minister. Topics discussed: 1. Constitutional considerations (PDA 1974) 2. A proposed regular committee meeting involving both our Prime Minster Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, as well as PETRONAS and PETROS CEOs 3. Why a dynamic percentage of revenue to PETROS should be covered along with a clearly defined threshold for PETRONAS 4. The political challenges for the Federal government 5. The Federation's over-reliance on PETRONAS stemming from a lack of government revenue -- why GST should be re-introduced. Dato Sri Idris Jala is a former minister (ranked by Bloomberg in 2014 as the Top 10 Most Influential Policy Makers in the World) and Chairman of PEMANDU Associates and Heineken Malaysia, as well as Co-Chairman of Sunway Group. Leon Jala is the Executive Pastor at HTBB Church where he heads Leadership Development and Innovation. He is also a Board Member of PEMANDU Associates where he serves as Vice Chair.

Is Malaysia on the verge of losing hundred billions ringgits in national revenue? ️ Timestamps: 0:00 → Prologue 1:12 → What Caused the Dispute? 1:57 → The Political Element 5:02 → The Commercial Impact 7:44 → The Malaysian Impact 9:03 → The Story So Far A deal between PETRONAS and Sarawak's Petros could shift massive wealth and power. Sarawak demands control over its gas, that may impact the nation's finances and YOUR savings! Get ready for a deep dive into a battle that could reshape Malaysia's economic future. The clash between PETRONAS and Sarawak centers on Malaysia’s gas resources. Before 1974, international giants dominated Malaysia's oil and gas sector. The 1974 Petroleum Development Act (PDA) then centralized power under Petronas. However, the formation of Malaysia in 1963 (and the Supplementary Agreement 1976) introduced complexities regarding resource ownership. Following a dispute where both Petronas and Petros billed Shell MDS for the same gas, a court hearing has been scheduled for June 11, 2025, which will significantly influence the legal resolution of this dispute. This video will explore the political element and the commercial impact of this high-stakes dispute, and what it could mean for all Malaysians. The outcome of the court battle and political negotiations will determine the future of Malaysia's oil and gas industry and whether this will set a precedent for other resource-rich states to follow in Sarawak's footsteps.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 31, 2025: What crisis are Malaysians in West Malaysia talking about in the Petronas-Petros dispute?

How can “thieves” turn around and say it is a crisis when Sarawak for Sarawakians are only fighting for their inherent rights?

The Oil and Gas (O&G) dispute between Malaysia and Sarawak all started in 1974 with then primer minister, the racist Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Dr M), suckering Sarawak and Sabah of its O&G.

So, what crisis are West Malaysians talking about?

Sarawak and Sabah have 100% rights and ownership to ts OAG resources.

For 51 years (since 1974), the federal government has been “stealing” the O&G from Sarawak and Sabah, and what has it to show today?

A national debt of more than RM1.5 trillion (RM3 trillion if you include domestic debts)!

What has happened to all the wealth from natural resources - O&G, tin ore, rubber and oil palm.

Sarawak and Sabah have been getting only 5% of all the O&G revenue whiuch they actually own.

Now, Sarawak is asking for only 20% and you cry crisis and detrimental to Malaysians and Malaysia?

What is really detrimental and a threat to rakyat dan negara (people and country) are corruption and bad governance, wasting funds on giving out foreign aid that can help ease the poverty misery of Malaysians, especially the rural folk.
