DAP is truly MCA 2.0 for PH
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21, 2025: MCA is Barisan Nasional (BN)’s loyal No.1 lapdog.
And the DAP,is now truly MCA 2.0’s loyal lapdog for Pakatan Harapan (PH).
The question now is whether the new DAP leadership, led by secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook, has outdone MCA in PH.

WITHOUT PREJUDICE
-------------------------------
Dear Anthony Loke,
Secretary-General, Democratic Action Party
I write to you with a deep sense of disappointment over the manner in which you publicly rebuked UPKO president Ewon Benedick for withdrawing from the federal cabinet and for taking UPKO out of Pakatan Harapan.
(Ref: FMT article dated 16 Nov 2025 under the heading “Ewon no hero, just playing to the gallery, says Loke”.)
As a fellow party leader, you should be aware that Ewon has every right, and a duty too, to act according to his principles and the mandate of his party. His decision deserves respect, even if one disagrees with it.
Your remarks, unfortunately, revealed a troubling lack of sensitivity toward the longstanding sentiments of Sabahans and Sarawakians in their political relationship with the Malay Peninsula.
Many of us, including my fellow Sarawakians, could not help but feel that your response reflected a limited understanding of the political realities and aspirations of East Malaysians. This disconnect is one reason trust continues to fray.
There was a time when the DAP commanded deep respect across Malaysia, including in Sabah and Sarawak.
But today, it is hard to shake the impression that the party has strayed from the ideals it once championed. Too often, your leaders invoke the need for "balancing acts" to justify seeming compromises - compromises that appear aimed at preserving the longevity of the Madani Government and, by extension, the positions and privileges enjoyed by those in power.
I urge you to reflect on the tone and implications of your statements. Genuine leadership requires humility, empathy, and an appreciation of Malaysia’s political diversity, not dismissiveness toward those who choose to stand on principle.
Even though I do not know Ewon Benedick personally, I feel compelled to place on record my support for him and my disappointment with you, as the head honcho of your esteemed party, over your recent remarks.
Your comments toward Ewon came across as unnecessarily harsh and rude. Such a tone does little to foster trust or mutual respect, especially at a time when Malaysia needs political leaders to demonstrate maturity, humility and understanding.
Respectfully,
Francis Paul Siah

Ewon no hero, just playing to the gallery, says Loke
The DAP secretary-general urges Sabahans not to back parties hostile to Putrajaya as it would trap the state in five years of political squabbling instead of real progress.

PETALING JAYA: DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook has hit out at Upko president Ewon Benedick, saying he was no hero for quitting as federal minister over Sabah’s 40% revenue claim and that he was “only playing to the gallery”.
Loke said the reality was that the federal government had already started work on the matter and even fixed a special Cabinet meeting on Nov 11 to discuss the issue.
It was at this meeting that the Cabinet agreed not to appeal the High Court ruling on Sabah’s entitlement to 40% of revenue derived from the state.
“Ewon kept harping on this issue, trying to project himself as a hero. But the truth is he was not present at this special Cabinet meeting.
“He tendered his resignation (on Nov 10), but it only takes effect after December. He is currently on leave. Technically, he is still a Cabinet member and he knew the meeting was taking place.
“If you believe the decision was wrong, you should fight it in the Cabinet. Challenge the attorney-general, challenge the prime minister, then resign. Then I will call you a hero.
“But right now, you’re just playing to the gallery,” he said in a statement.
Loke maintained that Putrajaya’s appeal in the ongoing court case was only on a technical point and not the merits of Sabah’s 40% claim to the state’s revenue.
“If the government does not appeal, it would look like we have misused our powers. These are legal issues that must be cleared up,” he said, reiterating that Putrajaya recognised Sabah’s right to 40% of revenue collected from the state.
Loke urged voters not to be swayed by confrontational politics ahead of the Nov 29 polls, saying Sabah’s growth needed close federal-state cooperation, not daily quarrels.
“If a state government that is totally against the federal government comes to power, the next five years will be full of politicking, fights and loud emotional talk.
“That is not going to solve Sabah’s long-term issues,” he said.
Loke, the federal transport minister, added that the unity government had never seen Sabah as an adversary. “If Sabah grows, Malaysia grows,” he said.
“There needs to be a balance. Having Pakatan Harapan assemblymen in Sabah will help create a win-win situation – strong federal support and a stable state government,” he said.
