KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25, 2025: Come Saturday (Nov 29) is the D-Day and time for Sabahans to regain their “independence” through their ballots.

It is now or never for Sabahans to take back their rights from the racial and religious bigoted politicians and political parties from West Malaysia (Persekutuan).

And to do that, they must unite and do what the Sarawakians did for them selves under their political battle cry - Sarawak For Sarawakians.

And that will require Sabahans to dump all the West Malaysia-sucking so-called local politicians who have been selling out their rights since the formation of Malaysia on Sept 16, 1963 (Malaysia was officially founded on Sept 16, 1963, when the Federation of Malaya merged with Singapore, Sabah (formerly North Borneo), and Sarawak. However, the original territory, the Federation of Malaya, became independent earlier, on Aug 31, 1957 - Google Search).

No News Is Bad News reproduces below the views of a senior Sarawakian journalist Francis Paul Siah who expressed hope that Sabahans to make sure that all those who have been selling out their rights since 1963 are rendered jobless after the ballots are counted on Saturday and Sunday:

OF THE SABAH ELECTION AND POLITICIANS WHO JUST REFUSE TO GO AWAY
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Across our political landscape, we continue to see figures who seem to harbour only one ambition: to die in office and hope history will grant them the glory they were denied in life.

But let us be clear - legacy is not built by overstaying your welcome. Legacy is built by knowing when to bow out with dignity, by recognising that leadership is service, not ownership.

And when politicians fail to recognise this, the voters must do it for them.

Punishing such leaders at the ballot box is not an act of spite; it is a solemn demand for renewal, relevance and a political culture that places public service above personal survival.

Now, Sabah stands at a crucial moment. The state election is underway with a record-breaking 596 candidates scrambling for just 73 seats - a spectacle that resembles a stampede of jobless desperadoes desperate for a political lifeline.

Among them are many who have long overstayed their welcome - politicians who treat public office as a lifetime entitlement rather than a temporary trust.

Sabah voters have the opportunity, and indeed the responsibility, to lead the way.

Clear out those who have lingered too long. Reject those who seek only to preserve themselves. It’s time to remind every politician that public office is not a cradle nor a coffin.

It is a contract - and Sabahans can show the nation exactly how such contracts should be renewed, and when they must be terminated.

Sabah voters can once again show the rest of Malaysia what they are made of. Few states have demonstrated the courage and independence Sabahans have shown at the ballot box.

Over the decades, they have changed governments when necessary - moving from USNO to Berjaya, to PBS, to UMNO, to Warisan, and now to GRS. Each transition reflected a people unafraid to demand better and unafraid to correct course.

Come Nov 29, Sabah has another chance to reaffirm that spirit.

Show the nation that your democratic ideals are not for sale, not for compromise, and not to be trampled by those who put self-interest above state interest. Show us that Sabahans remain tough, discerning and fiercely protective of their homeland’s future.

The power rests with you … and the rest of Malaysia is watching.

Francis Siah: PERSONAL - I think Shafie Apdal deserves another shot as Sabah CM.
Somehow, I believe he has gotten rid of his Umno DNA and should be good for Sabah over the next 5 years, at least.
To me, Shafie is the best of the lot of 596 jobless desperadoes offering themselves for a mere 73 vacancies.
If I were a Sabahan, Warisan will get my vote.
I hope Sabahans will vote wisely and enable Shafie and Warisan to lead the next coalition government after Nov 29.
