Singapore buys US$2.3b (RM10b) in aircraft and torpedoes

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21, 2026: AFP reported today that the US has approved US$2.3 billion (RM10 billion) sale of aircraft, torpedoes to Singapore.

While tiny but super rich Singapore continues with its upgrading of military arsenal, what has Malaysia been doing with its Royal Malaysia Armed Forces (RMAF)?

Is the RMAF adequately equipped?

And where is the so-called champion of Malays, the racial and religious bigoted Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal “Dr Ham/I Am Malay First” Saleh?

And should Dr Ham start “protesting” Singapore’s “military shopping”, the best and appropriate response is: Why don’t you and Umno go fly kites?” and “Mind Your Own - f…… - Business (MYOB).

Akmal, why don’t you ask yourself why the majority of Malays, especially those in the rural areas, are still poor after more than 60 years of Umno’s governance (Umno-led Alliance/Umno-led Barisan Nasional) since Merdeka (Independence) 1957.

WASHINGTON: The United States on Tuesday announced the approval of a US$2.3 billion sale of P-8A maritime patrol aircraft, torpedoes and related equipment to Singapore.

“The proposed sale will improve Singapore’s capability to meet current and future threats by providing a credible maritime force capable of deterring adversaries,” the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said in a statement.

It will “enhance the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a strategic partner that is an important force for political stability and economic progress in Asia,” DSCA added.

The state department approved the possible sale of the equipment to Singapore and DSCA provided the required notification to the US Congress, which still needs to sign off on the transaction.
