Anti-nationals, that’s what PAS-PN ‘Talibans’ are

Look at how the PAS and PN “Talibans” have distorted the Malaysian colours and subtly showin their antyi-national stand. Is it any wonder when it is led by PAS which dominates Perikatan Nasional (PN) led by Muhyiddin “I Am Malay First” Yassin. - Image from Facebook

Anti-nationals, that’s what PAS-PN ‘Talibans’ are

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20, 2023: So, the Taliban-like PAS state governments have stepped up their extremism by behaving as if they are the federal government.

They have brazenly come up with their own Merdeka (Independence) 1957 celebrations, logo and theme.

And “they” means PAS which dominates Perikatan Nasional (PN) led by Muhyiddin “I Am Malay First” Yassin.

National Patriots Association (Patriot) president Arshad Raji said the Malay rulers would not condone such betrayal of the federalism that has stood for decades.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his Unity Government (UG) should, likewise, not condone such nonsense which is akin to anti-national behaviour.

Where are the police, especially the Special Branch?

This is clearly a matter of national security, national unity and national harmony.

Patriot slams PN over separate Merdeka Day logo, theme

Patriot president Arshad Raji says the Malay rulers would not condone such betrayal of the federalism that has stood for decades.

Brig-Gen (Rtd) Arshad Raji called for the government to take drastic action against this ‘dangerous act and intent’ by the opposition.

PETALING JAYA: The National Patriots Association (Patriot) has condemned the “anti-government stance” taken by the four states under Perikatan Nasional (PN) over the Merdeka Day logo and theme.

Patriot president, retired army brigadier-general Arshad Raji, said the veterans’ group views seriously a report that Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will have a different logo from that of the federal government to mark our national independence day on Aug 31 this year.

“The proposal by PN Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari on the use of a different theme and logo for the National Day Celebration in the four PN-ruled states by all counts is seen as betraying the principles of federalism practised in the country.

“Patriot condemns this anti-government stance,” he said in a statement.

“For the opposition political parties to propose a logo and theme when it should come from the present unity government is not only arrogant but plants anti-government sentiments in the country.”

He added that as “defenders of the nation” Patriot members take this action and intent by the opposition very seriously as it sends a “very dangerous signal and sets an implosive precedent”.

He then called out leaders from PAS and Bersatu to speak up on this “dangerous trend” that was proposed by their coalition.

“Never in our history of nationhood since gaining independence in 1957 has there ever been such a stance in the country. Why now?,” he said.

Arshad said that the government must take drastic action against this dangerous act and intent by PN.

He added that the Malay rulers would also not condone such betrayal of the federalism that has been painstakingly cherished by the royalty all these decades.

Putrajaya recently unveiled its Merdeka Day theme of “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan”.

Don’t politicise Merdeka Day theme, logo, says Zahid

Deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi chides PN leader over launch of separate logo and theme, says the national day has nothing to with politics.

PUTRAJAYA: Matters concerning patriotism such as the National Day logo and theme should not be politicised, says deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Commenting on Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari’s statement that the four states under PN might use a different Merdeka Day logo and theme for state-level celebrations, Zahid described it as “jumud” (not progressive).

“This is not about politics. It concerns the flag for celebratIon (National Day). And I think people should not politicise this matter,” he told reporters after opening the 2023 Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi Cup football tournament here.

Fadhli was reported as saying that Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, which are ruled by PN, might use the theme “Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera” and logo with elements of the hibiscus which were launched by PN Youth yesterday for the state-level Merdeka Day celebrations.

Last May, communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that the theme for Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day 2023 is ‘Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan’, with Malaysia Madani as the official logo.

GEORGE TOWN: Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy chairman Dominic Lau said he was opposed to the proposal made by PN Youth leader Ahmad Fadhli Shaari to use an alternative Merdeka Day logo and theme in the four PN-led states, instead of the government’s Madani and unity themes.

Lau, who is also Gerakan president, said the Merdeka Day celebration should not be politicised and the opposition coalition should not be seen by the rakyat as trying to do so.

He also said he had voiced his objections to the proposal during a meeting held by PN’s central leadership.

“Fadhli made the suggestion because we saw that the federal government had politicised the (Merdeka Day) theme by using terms such as ‘Madani’ and ‘unity’.

“It was a counter (move by Fadhli). But he can’t do anything because he is not a chief minister or a menteri besar,” he told reporters at a press conference in Teluk Kumbar here.

Meanwhile, Lau took a shot at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, claiming he had politicised Merdeka Day by using the “Madani” and “unity” terms.

In May, communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil announced the “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” theme for Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day 2023, with “Malaysia Madani” as the official logo.

Yesterday, Fadhli was reported as saying that PN-led Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, might use the theme “Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera” and logo with elements of the hibiscus – launched by PN Youth yesterday – for the state-level Merdeka Day celebrations.

The PAS leader was slammed by several quarters, such as army veterans group National Patriots Association (Patriot), which said the alternative theme betrayed the principles of federalism practised nationwide.

Deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Fahmi also slammed the move. Zahid said Fadhli was trying to politicise the theme while Fahmi said mooting a separate theme would sow disunity.
