KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31, 2023: Bapa Malaysia (Father of Malaysia) Tunku Abdul Rahman is truly a wise man who could see through politicians accurately.
The Tunku had said that Dr Mahathir Mohamad (who governed Malaysia for a total of 26 years) was one man who would bring the nation down.
Dr M was kicked out of Umno by the Tunku for his racism.
Dr M is now proven to be a racial and religious bigot who only cares for himself, not the rakyat dan negara (people and country).
There are now many racial and religious “mongoloids” who are following Dr M’s footsteps, spewing sensitive rhetoric for political mileage without a care for national unity and harmony.
And, the political mongoloids come from both sides of the political divide. They have also dumped the Federal Constitution in so doing.
In short, they have no respect for the laws of the country and rule of law. So, what is the Madani Unity Government doing about their anti-national unity and anti-harmony antics?

Abolish vernacular schools to reduce racial divide, says Dr M

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad claimed the ‘ethnic pendatang’ did not want to mix with Malay students.
PETALING JAYA: Dr Mahathir Mohamad has called for vernacular schools to be shut down, describing it as the best way to reduce the racial divide.
Mahathir has been critical of the vernacular school system in the past, claiming that it has divided the country.
“One of the best ways to close the racial divide is through education, and among (the measures that can be taken is) abolishing vernacular schools,” Utusan Malaysia quoted the former prime minister as saying.
He also claimed there were “certain races” who refused to enrol their children in national schools as they were akin to religious schools.
However, he said, even if the situation improved in national schools, minorities would still avoid enrolling their children in them.
Mahathir, who has been harping on race-related issues of late, went on to claim that the “ethnic pendatang” did not want to mix with Malay students.
“They want to preserve their customs and culture, which includes their mother tongue, just like how it is in their motherland.”
He said in countries such as the US, UK and Australia, immigrants were accorded citizenship if they were proficient in English and embraced local culture.
“Take UK’s prime minister Rishi Sunak, for example, who is of Indian descent but speaks English that is indistinguishable from the locals.”
Mahathir is not alone in calling for the abolishment of vernacular education as his son, Mukhriz, had made a similar call back in March.
Mukhriz had said then that Malaysia must eliminate factors that divided the people, such as having vernacular schools, before the possibility of having a non-Malay becoming prime minister could be entertained.
Last year, a High Court in Kota Bharu ruled that vernacular schools were constitutional.

PETALING JAYA: Umno Supreme Council member Nur Jazlan Mohamed has urged DAP to drop its “Malaysian Malaysia” slogan from its party constitution if it wants to gain the support of Malay voters.
Nur Jazlan said Malays were hesitant to fully support DAP because of its secular state agenda, which contradicted Islamic and Malay principles.
He claimed that Malay voters in Selangor and Johor told him that they could not accept DAP’s political stance as they were made in the interests of the Chinese community.
However, they do not have the same views about MCA because the party is not as “extreme” as DAP and Umno is the dominant force in Barisan Nasional.
“If DAP remains hesitant to make substantial changes like the sacrifices Umno has made today, I expect DAP to continue to be shunned by Malay voters, and Umno will also be rejected by Malays as long as we cooperate with DAP,” he said in a Facebook post.
Nur Jazlan said another challenge DAP faced was PAS’s growing support among Malays, which may lead to a political scenario in which Chinese voters would continue to vote for DAP while Malays shift their allegiance to PAS.
To prevent that from happening, the former Pulai MP said DAP needed to become a moderate party that supported the Chinese community and could also be accepted by Malay voters.
“DAP needs to follow the successful formula of BN, which has proven to effectively champion Malay interests for over 60 years without neglecting the rights of non-Malay citizens.”
Umno had put up one of its worst electoral performances in the recent six state elections, winning only 19 of the 108 state seats it contested, following an equally dismal performance in the 15th general election last November.
This led to calls for a change in the Umno leadership, particularly for its party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down. Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil also questioned the party’s alliance with DAP following Umno’s dismal performance at the polls.
Meanwhile, Nur Jazlan claimed that Umno has grown weaker over time because it had been used as a punching bag by PAS, DAP, PKR and Bersatu, over the years.
“The ongoing propaganda to tarnish Umno’s image has led some Malay voters, especially the younger generation, to be easily influenced, developing negative perceptions of the party,” he added.

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has continued to champion his call that “Malaysia is a Malay country" despite the loud criticisms from moderates who defended multiculturalism.
In a Twitter post, he said it is not wrong to voice his views as it is his right under the democratic freedom of speech, but the Federal Constitution has never claimed that Malaysia is a multi-racial country.
"Ramkarpal Singh's accusation that I am not promoting Malaysia as a multi-ethnic country is not in accordance with the Constitution is wrong.
"In terms of freedom of speech, it is not wrong. But the Federal Constitution does not claim that Malaysia is a multi-racial country.
"With the national language, customs, and with the Malay monarchy, the Constitution confirms that this country is a Malay country.
"Accepting citizens from other races does not make Malaysia a multi-racial country.
"Look at the situation in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, although many other nationalities become citizens, these countries do not become multi-national countries.
"They still remain and their race is still British, American or Australian - not British Indian, German American or Malayan Australian," said Dr Mahathir.
He added that granting legal protection to foreigners who have been granted citizenship is common, but does not turn the country into a multi-ethnic country.
"The Constitution is the founding law that must be respected, but the Constitution can be amended if 2/3 of the Members of Parliament agree.
"If an agreement is reached, Malaysia can be converted into a multi-racial country," he said, adding that the “Malay country will disappear”.
"If the Malays want to eliminate the ‘Malayness’ of this country, just support the interpretation of this country as a multi-racial country," he said.
On Wednesday, Deputy Law and Institutional Reform Minister Ramkarpal Singh described Dr Mahathir's earlier statement as legally groundless, for claiming that it is unconstitutional to promote Malaysia as a multi-racial country.
Ramkarpal said the statement by Dr Mahathir - who served as prime minister for 23 years and had never questioned Malaysia's status as a multi-ethnic and multi-racial country during that period - is deeply regrettable, especially when he himself recognised Malaysia as a multi-ethnic and multi-racial nation during the same period.

KUALA LUMPUR: Being Malay should not be a reason to deny others their rights under the Federal Constitution, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic).
"We all have to take the position that the Constitution is very clear on the position of the Malays, but it is also clear on protecting the welfare of all citizens in this country. The future is for all Malaysians," said Anwar.
Anwar said this during a question-and-answer session at the opening of the International Malaysia Law Conference on Monday (July 10).
He questioned certain quarters for denying the nation's multicultural society by insisting that the country belongs to the Malays.
Anwar's response comes after former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad continued insisting that “Malaysia is a Malay country" despite the loud criticisms from moderates who defended multiculturalism.
Dr Mahathir had recently penned a 12-point Malay Proclamation aimed at uniting the Malays in the country.
Several leaders from PAS and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) had signed the proclamation in support of Dr Mahathir's call.
Meanwhile, Anwar also took a swipe at the Opposition for harping on the issue of race.
"I am Malay and I respect the Malay culture, tradition, rulers, language but that does not make me racist or deny the rights of others," he said.
Anwar said he was perplexed why the issue of race was still being debated when there are more pressing issues affecting the nation.
"I can’t understand why we are stuck; we are not talking about governance, economic advancement, or digital technology. We are stuck on who this country belongs to - the Malays or the Chinese or the Christians," he said.

SHAH ALAM: The chief organiser of the Malay Dignity Congress here today reminded other communities of their social contract with Malays, saying it was the basis of giving them citizenship which could be suspended if they break the agreement.
Quoting verses from the Quran, Zainal Kling said Malays, who he claimed “inherited the country for over 5,000 years”, could always suspend their social contract with non-Malays, adding that they were the rightful owners of the land.
“Despite our overtures, there are those who went off track, who wanted to manipulate us, who wanted to undermine our dignity, mock our religion, the Malay rulers and the Malays’ special position, and turn their backs on the social contract which is the basis for the Federal Constitution,” he told thousands who converged at the Malawati Stadium here for the congress, where Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has agreed to deliver a keynote address.
Also present were rival leaders from Umno and PAS.Part of the thousands of participants at the congress at Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam.
Zainal said Muslims are allowed terminate their treaties with non-Muslims if the latter break the conditions.
“If people want to make light of these contracts, let us remind them in the Quran that there is a line – verses 3 and 4 of Surah Tawbah – allowing for the suspension of the contract.
“If people want to continue to transgress the agreements in the Federal Constitution, then perhaps the Malays have to return to Allah’s words in the Surah At Taubah,” he said.

He said Malaysia is for Malays just as Thailand is for the Thais, China for the Chinese, and India for the Indians.
The congress is jointly organised by Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Organisers say it will focus on problems faced by Malays in the fields of education, religion, culture, politics and the economy.

KUALA LUMPUR - Being Malay does not give him the right to deny Malaysians of other races their rights under the Federal Constitution, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
“I am a Malay. I respect the Malay culture, tradition, rulers and language, but that does not make me racist or deny the rights of others,” he said during a question-and-answer session at the opening of the International Malaysia Law Conference on Monday.

Datuk Seri Anwar questioned the insistence by certain quarters that the survival of the nation is dependent on whether it is “purely a Malay country”, which then comes at the expense of the rights of others.
His response came after former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad insisted that “Malaysia is a Malay country”, despite loud criticism from moderates who defended multiculturalism.
Tun Dr Mahathir also said the Constitution had never claimed that Malaysia was a multiracial country.
Mr Anwar described this as a last-ditch effort by Dr Mahathir to remain relevant after failing to hold on to the Langkawi parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election in November.
“(Mahathir) lost his deposit in Langkawi. I don’t think we should take him very seriously. Of course, this is his last desperate effort to be seen as relevant. I am going to make him irrelevant,” he said.
Dr Mahathir quit Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, the party he founded, on Feb 10 following its dismal performance in November’s polls. It was the two-time premier’s first election defeat since 1969.
Following this, the 98-year-old politician went on to pen a 12-point “Malay Proclamation” aimed at uniting Malays in the country.
Several leaders from opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional signed the proclamation in support of Dr Mahathir’s call.
Mahathir says he is willing to work with former foe Muhyiddin to champion Malay cause.
Mr Anwar also took a swipe at the opposition for harping on race, questioning why this card is still being flashed around when there are more pressing issues affecting the nation.
“I can’t understand why we are still stuck when we are in 2023; we are not talking about governance, economic advancement or digital technology,” he said, adding: “We are fixated on who this country belongs to – the Malays or the Chinese, or the Christians.”
Mr Anwar said his administration will do all it can to move discussion towards one on nation-building. “If we fail in this narrative and discourse (of multiculturalism), we fail as a nation,” he said as he challenged those who supposedly champion Malays yet enrich themselves.

Mind-boggling Malaysians who support racial, religious bigots
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30, 2023: In his 66th Merdeka address to Malaysians today, Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim pledges to defend the rights of all citizens, irrespective of race, creed or religion.
In essence, he is a prime minister for all the rakyat (people) or Malaysians.
Anwar has govern the country for only 10 months but Malaysians, especially the Malays, have shown their rejection of Anwar in the six state elections on Aug 12.
However, the majority of the rejection were in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu. But the political inroots the Taliban-like PAS which dominates the Muhyiddin “I Am Malay First” Yassin-led Perikantan Nasional (PN) in Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan are most discomfoting.
It is really mind-boggling how peace-loving and sane Malaysians, especially the Malays ,can reject Anwar who has been consistent in his assertion that he is a prime minister for all Malaysians.
The only viable explanatiuon is that the Malays are esily swayed by racial and religious rhetoric spewed by those who care a damn for national unity, harmony and the socio-economic well-being of the rakyat dan negara (people and country).

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 30 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all Malaysians to join him in defending the rights of every Malaysian in the country.
He said no one should dispute the absolute provisions and strengthen the country’s Federal Constitution.
“The question of Bahasa Malaysia, the question of Islam, the question of the federal religion, the question of Bumiputera rights and the sovereignty of the Malay Rulers, these were upheld in the past, upheld now, and God willing, will be upheld (in the future) by recognising the social contract between all races, and guaranteeing each citizen’s right to practise their religion.
“God willing, the unity government with a Madani country will defend the rights of every people on this blessed earth,” Anwar said during his Merdeka Day 2023 address here.
The prime minister, in his address, also explained what it meant for a country that has achieved independence.
“The meaning of Merdeka means that the highest levels of leadership right down to the people must know that this country is a mandate and all the powers that exist, no matter at the lowest level in the village or in the district office right up to the Prime Minister’s Department, must shape the people whose souls are also independent.
“We must not allow this country to be used as a tool to obtain wealth for elite groups.
“A study shows that efforts to ensure the independence of souls must continue. The meaning of independence means all the country’s wealth, strength and efforts are meant to return rights to the people, raising the dignity of this country.
“And I am sure, if this spirit exists among Malaysians, Malaysia will emerge as a great and brave country in South-east Asia,” Anwar said.
To achieve a truly independent Malaysia, Anwar said all Malaysians must uphold the spirit laid down by the country’s forefathers that it belongs to all Malaysians.
“And what is this unity that we foster? To guarantee its future through policies and implementation now.
“That’s why I said... about management, governance, don’t use power to accumulate wealth for yourself and your family and cronies, that must be defended,” he said.
He further pointed out that the problems in Malaysia are not rooted in racial and cultural issues, adding that God created these differences for all to know and respect each other.
“So we must accept this reality. For that, we must focus on preventing anyone or any effort that could weaken the spirit of unity in our country.
“Don’t take this lightly, because there are countries that were once strong and civilised but fell apart, not because of governance and corruption, but due to played up racism and religion fanaticism.
“Just look at other developing countries. Differences can be a strength, differences could also damage the branches of the society and the strength of the country,” he added.
In the spirit of Merdeka, Anwar said Malaysia should not be known just for its landmarks, but must be known as country that is fair to all, including those who are disadvantaged.
“For that, we are proud that, this year, 2023, before the year ends, specifically in October, all schools in the country — public schools, Chinese, Tamil, Arab — all without exception, we guarantee that they will receive basic infrastructure such as toilets and roofs.

He said this can be achieved, as Malaysia has an abundant workforce that can be transformed into technology experts and professionals for the country to compete with any other in the world.
“Between ambition and hope, the country must unite and formulate a sustainable Madani economy and also guarantee justice for its multi-racial and multi-religious people.
“Let’s take advantage of the time we have left in our lives to serve ourselves, our family and our community and be assured that this is no ordinary nation.
“This country has rich and bountiful resources,” he said when addressing a crowd of over 7,000 people at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here today.
Also present at the event, which was also broadcast live on local television, were the two deputy prime ministers, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, ministers, senior government officials, community representatives and students.
Anwar said one of the conditions needed to meet those aspirations was “to free the people” by shaping a society that is “independent” in mind and soul and free from colonialist and outmoded thinking.
The prime minister said to ensure Malaysia progresses, all levels of society must push forth with a “spirit of freedom” by not being exploited and being tools of the elite bent on making personal gains that harm the country.
In addition, he said unity among the races was vital in ensuring Malaysia emerged as a great nation in this century after a mediocre performance over the past 20 years.
Anwar said the unity government guarantees that the rights of all Malaysians will be defended, with no one marginalised, but added that matters enshrined in the constitution, such as Bumiputera rights and privileges, and Islam as the federal religion, will continue to be defended.
“We have to defend this spirit, that this country belongs to all the people. This unity (needs) to be nurtured to guarantee its future from now on,” he said.
Anwar said to transform Malaysia into a great nation, education is an important asset that needs to be stressed to produce a generation of experts in various fields.
In this regard, the prime minister gave his assurance that all schools will be equipped with basic infrastructure of reasonable standards by the end of this year.
“Malaysia must be known for its guarantee of justice for all its citizens, including the marginalised,” he said.
Reminding Malaysians of the importance of independence that the country has enjoyed for the past six decades, Anwar said the challenge faced today is for the people to unite and preserve peace and independence.
Also remembering and honouring the country’s freedom fighters and security forces, especially the Royal Malaysian Police and the Malaysian Armed Forces, he said the peace enjoyed currently would have been impossible without them.
“Just like how it was when we faced insurgents in Lahad Datu (Sabah), and before that the Indonesian Confrontation and communist threats, we will deal with it.

Be loyal even if you have different political ideologies, civil servants told

Civil servants have been reminded to uphold the highest standards of professionalism at all times.
PETALING JAYA: Cuepacs has called on civil servants to support national policies and remain loyal to the government of the day, even if they have differing political ideologies.
In a statement, the umbrella body for civil service unions stressed that all civil servants must be aware that they have been tasked with ensuring the well-being of the public and the country’s prosperity.
“Close collaboration with the government must be maintained to ensure that every policy brought forth will have its full impact on the public and the nation,” said Cuepacs president Adnan Mat.
“Herein lies our role as civil servants in supporting state policies and remaining loyal to the government, even when holding differing political ideologies.
“At the same time, Cuepacs hopes that government leaders always understand this bond and do not accuse civil servants of favouring any (political) party.”
Adnan added that government leaders and civil servants must uphold the highest standards of professionalism at all times.
He also highlighted Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s speech in conjunction with the 66th National Day celebration at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre earlier today, where the latter called for Malaysians to uphold the nation’s spirit of togetherness.
“Cuepacs invites all public servants to continue working alongside the government in developing a great Malaysia with values and aspirations embodied in the concept of ‘Malaysia Madani’,” said Adnan.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26, 2023: Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Dr M), the man Malaysians gave him the chance to govern for 26 years, is also the man respeonsible for Malaysia’s current socio-economic woes.
First Prime Minister Tunku “Bapa Malaysia” Abdul Rahman was extremely far sighted when he descirbed Dr M as “This one man alone will bring down this nation”.
Malaysian-born and Canadian-trained surgeon in private practice in California’s Silicon Valley, Dr M. Bakri Musa, not only blamed Dr M for Malaysia’s current socio-economic abyss, he also described the governments of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib Razak as “Malaysia’s Wasted Decade 2004 to2014).

BACK TO STATUS QUO
Yesterday’s six state elections confirmed what had been suspected and feared all along. That is, Malays are now deeply and dangerously polarised.
This was gleaned earlier from reviewing the last 15th general election. While the just-completed elections did not change any state government, with last November’s election Pakatan Harapan’s victory in May 2018 was repeated.
However, that was prematurely aborted by the conniving Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Then, the young and inexperienced Harapan leaders had a misplaced and unwarranted trust in the old man.
They naively believed his claim that he was instrumental in toppling former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak. They forgot that it was Mahathir who was responsible for Najib’s fast rise in politics in the first place.
As could be anticipated, the ever-scheming Mahathir, together with his backdoor accomplices Muhyiddin Yassin and Azmin Ali, ended Harapan’s short-lived government.

The pair was rightly cursed as “pengkhianat negara” (national traitors). I would add that description to Mahathir.
These last six state elections also revealed a hitherto ignored but disturbing development - the rise of the Islamists and “ketuanan Melayu” (Malay supremacists).
If Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, a leader with unchallenged Islamic and nationalist credentials, could not make any inroads against them despite his recent vigorous and untiring campaign, then no one could.
As such, it is time for him and others who share his vision of a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Malaysia to change tack, and do so dramatically, radically, and in no uncertain terms.
The threat posed by these Islamists and nationalists is more ominous than that by the communists after the war.
In my book titled “Towards A Competitive Malaysia” (2007) I wrote that Malaysia remained unique for having defeated the communists, more so as she did it without any foreign military aid.
Meanwhile, in nearby then-South Vietnam, the Americans with their greatest economy, mightiest military and their ‘best and brightest’ could not prevail against the pajama-clad Viet Congs.
While former US secretary of defense, Robert McNamara was consumed with his infamous “body counts”, the Malaysian effort, led by the brilliant strategist Major-General Mahmud Sulaiman, opted for the very opposite tactic.
He gave these communist guerrillas every chance to surrender and escape from being killed. He saw immense propaganda value in having them alive, repentant and leading productive lives.
He analogised the war against the terrorists to exterminating rats. Killing and poisoning them would not work as those rodents could multiply faster.
Besides, those poisons could backfire on the innocent. Instead, Mahmud addressed the root causes of communism - eliminating poverty, better education, and most of all assuring and promising them a peaceful productive life out of the fetid Malaysian jungle.

Anwar must adopt a similar counterintuitive strategy. Strip these disruptive and destructive Islamists and nationalists of the self-styled characterisations as defenders of Islam and “pejuang bangsa” (champions of the race).
Expose their vacuity and lack of constructive ideas. Islam needs no defenders, least of all from these scoundrels.
Anwar had correctly begun by arresting corrupt leaders. Go further and much more aggressively. Recruit accomplished foreign prosecutors and investigators.
And most of all, address the grouses of these latter-day champions of the race, in particular, their plaintive cry on their current pathetic state that mocks their claim of Malaysia being “Tanah Airku” (my homeland).
I agree with their lament but alas, disagree profoundly as to the needed remedies.
With the Islamists, Anwar should distance himself from the likes of the Indonesian Abdul Somad Batubara as well as the less virulent but no less destructive local variants found at such places as the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (Istac) and local public campuses.
Instead, invite the likes of the Harvard-trained Ulil Abdulla and the New York-based Syamsul Ali.
Engage intellectuals, avoid charlatans
Singapore wisely banned this Abdul Somad charlatan from entering the republic.
Likewise, with those Malay intellectuals in the National Council of Professors (NCP), they should invite successful Malay entrepreneurs, professionals and scientists to Sri Perdana.
That would at least inspire the young. My late father had an apt expression on our current practice of honouring the corrupt and the losers – “membajakan lalang” (fertilising the weeds).
The greatest contributor to the lack of Malay competitiveness and thus, our current blighted condition, apart from corruption, is the education system.
Revamp the national curriculum to make all Malaysians fluently bilingual (Malay and English), literate in the sciences and competent in mathematics.
Get rid of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) and other religious bodies. Use the funds saved to build libraries and laboratories in national schools and recruit well-trained teachers. Stop sending our students to mediocre foreign universities.
Anwar does not need to be reminded that in the 1986 national election, a few years after he joined Umno, the Islamic party won only one out of the 177 parliamentary seats.
He did it then, and he could it do again, this time out of Umno.
To beat the Islamists and Malay nationalists, Anwar’s top priority must be to make Malays competitive so we could be respected, and be worthy of Hang Tuah’s immortal exhortation – “Takkan Melayu Hilang Di Dunia!” (Malays will never be lost in this world).
