Religions should be a faith in the heart of individuals. That's true and real faith.

Can Malay kids get a real productive job in the private sector by studying five or six hours of religion every week?

KUALA LUMPUR, June 18, 2024: No News Is Bad News reproduces below a commentary by Syed Akhbar Ali.

It is self-explanatory and we have nothing to add:

Now they have five to six hours per week of religious classes for Malay kids. All those religious classes need religious books. So, more money for the religious book publishers.  But where does that get them?

Can the Malay kids get a real productive job in the private sector by studying five or six hours of religion every week?

_"M'sian Dad Shocked To Find Religious Studies Have More Hours Than Math & Science In School.  "Wow, there are 5.5 hours per week for Pendidikan Agama Islam and related subjects in total," tweeted a father of two."_

What does this mean? This means schoolchildren in Vietnam automatically study an extra five or six hours per week of science, mathematics or other relevant subjects  - compared to Malay kids in our schools.

There are about 36 weeks of school each year. So, the Vietnamese school kids learn (approx) an extra 36 x 6 hrs = 216 hours each year of Maths, Science, computer programming and other relevant subjects IN SCHOOL (compared to Malay school kids).

So, in SIX YEARS of primary school the Vietnamese kids learn 216 hrs x 6 yrs = 1,296 hours of maths, science and other relevant subjects compared to Malay school kids.

Plus another FIVE years of secondary school, that is another extra 1,080 hours of science, maths and other relevant subjects.

That is how Vietnam is No. 2 in ASEAN (after Singapore) in the PISA math and science scores. And Vietnam is now a tiger economy in Asia.

(I thought there is no need to make comparisons with Singapore who are No. 1 in ASEAN and possibly in the world).

SO TUAN-TUAN THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IS ACTUALLY MAKING YOUR CHILDREN DUMBER COMPARED TO ANAK-ANAK ORANG LAIN.

And what is your role in this scheme of things?  Apakah peranan Tuan-Tuan?

It is your apathy. Your tidak apa attitude towards the failed education policies.

WHAT IS SO DIFFICULT ABOUT THE RELIGION THAT YOU MUST TEACH RELIGION FOR SIX HOURS A WEEK FOR 12 YEARS !!

OR IS IT JUST AN EXCUSE TO "AGIH" BOOK PUBLISHING CONTRACTS TO THE BOOK PUBLISHERS? OR TO GET THOUSANDS OF UNEMPLOYABLE AGAMA GRADUATES EMPLOYED?

I DON’T SEE A SINGLE MALAY EDUCATIONIST, MALAY POLITICIAN OR A SINGLE MALAY ACADEMIC who is willing to stand up and say that you are wasting too much time in schools teaching FIVE TO SIX HOURS OF RELIGION PER WEEK FROM TADIKA TO PRIMARY SCHOOL TO SECONDARY SCHOOL AND EVEN TO THE UNIVERSITY LEVEL.

Semua takut hilang pencen, takut hilang jawatan, takut tak dapat Datuk. So, you just keep quiet, afraid of these monkeys and watch your next generation of Malay children go to hell.

I BELIEVE NO OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WASTES SO MUCH TIME, SO MUCH MONEY AND RESOURCES TEACHING SCHOOL KIDS THINGS WHICH ARE NOT PRODUCTIVE OR MARKETABLE IN THE REAL JOB MARKET.

There are three things in this world that should not involve racial quotas: good food, medical services and education.

When they want a good banana leaf lunch everyone goes to the Indian banana leaf shop. You go there because the food is tasty and good. And you will rarely die of salmonella or E Coli poisoning. It is an Indian shop but no one cares. They go for the food.

When you need medical attention, you go and see a skilled doctor. You don’t care whether the doctor is Chinese, Indian or Malay. If he is a good doctor that is who you want to treat your illness.

If you don’t care too much about your health then you can choose your doctor by your race. See what happens.

When you want to educate your children you want good teachers, regardless of their race. Whether the teacher is Chinese, Malay or Indian if the teacher is good at his job, then that is who you want to teach your children.

If you want your children to be dumb, then please choose your teacher by your own race.

If you want to eat good food you go to a place that serves good food, regardless of who is the owner of the restaurant. If you choose the restaurant or caterer by race alone your choices are limited. And maybe get prepared for some Salmonella in the recipe.

But why don’t educated Malays succeed as well as others?  The answer is simple - they do not take risks like other people. They are shielded from competition.

And the New Economic Policy was designed to intentionally shield the Malays from taking risks and competition. This is an old political trick.

There is always a tongkat to hold them in place.
