Why so much cash stashed? What happened to Bank Negara Malaysia’s enforcement or any other law enforcement agency?

Ismail ‘Turtle Egg’ Sabri: A case of out of sight, out of mind?

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27, 2025: Why are there no news or updates by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the case of former backdoor prime minister Ismail “Turtle Egg” Sabri.

Ismail arrived at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at 2.52pm on Friday for questioning as a suspect but there has been no news on the case from the MACC after that.

Was Ismail arrested and released on bail? Has the MACC wrapped up the case? Or will the interrogations continue tomorrow after more than 40 hours?

Why the sudden silence or mystery?

Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob is being questioned as a suspect in an investigation into four of his former senior officers.

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya for his ninth day of questioning.

The Bera MP arrived at 2.52pm as the anti-graft agency continued questioning him as a suspect in an investigation into four of his former senior officers, Bernama reported.

Ismail declared his assets to MACC on Feb 10 and was first questioned by the agency on Feb 19. He was also called in for questioning on March 13, 14, 17, 19, 20 and 24, and April 24 for around six hours each day.

Ismail, who collapsed at home on Feb 22 and was hospitalised for blood pressure-related problems, could not attend two previously scheduled sessions with MACC on March 5 and 7 as he was issued medical certificates by his doctor.

MACC is investigating the discovery of about RM170 million in cash and 16kg of gold bars worth millions of ringgit, seized in raids at the residences of the four officers and three other premises believed to be “safe houses”.
