KUALA LUMPUR, May 7, 2025: After a week of silence with no updates, former backdoor prime minister Ismail “Turtle Egg” Sabri is back to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)’s interrogation room today.
It will be his 10th day of grilling by the MACC covering some 40 hours.

MACC resumes questioning Ismail Sabri in graft probe
The ex-prime minister is being probed over alleged corruption and money laundering involving publicity programmes under the Keluarga Malaysia initiative.
The vehicle carrying former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob arrived at the MACC headquarters at 10.54am.
PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob returned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today to continue giving his statement in an investigation into allegations of corruption and money laundering linked to him.
The vehicle carrying the country’s ninth prime minister arrived at the MACC headquarters here at 10.54am.
The Bera MP is being investigated over suspected corruption and money laundering involving expenditure and funding for promotional and publicity programmes under the Keluarga Malaysia initiative during his tenure as prime minister from August 2021 to November 2022.
The case is being investigated under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
MACC chief Azam Baki recently said that the investigation into the case was only about 15% to 20% complete.

PUTRAJAYA: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob returned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Wednesday (May 7) to continue giving his statement in an investigation into corruption and money laundering allegations linked to him.
The vehicle carrying the country’s ninth prime minister arrived at the MACC headquarters here at 10.54am.
On Tuesday (May 6), Sinar Harian reported that according to sources, the Bera MP was originally scheduled to attend on that day, but it was postponed to the following day.
“The investigating officer is expected to record his statement in the morning,” he said.
The Bera Member of Parliament is being investigated over suspected corruption and money laundering involving expenditure and funding for promotional and publicity programmes under the Keluarga Malaysia initiative during his tenure as prime minister from August 2021 to November 2022.
The case is being investigated under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
Previously, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the investigation into the case involving Ismail Sabri was currently 15 to 20% complete. - The Star

Ismail arrived at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at 2.52pm on Friday for questioning as a suspect but there has been no news on the case from the MACC after that.

The ex-prime minister arrived at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters in Putrajaya at 2.52pm.
Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob is being questioned as a suspect in an investigation into four of his former senior officers.
PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya for his ninth day of questioning.
The Bera MP arrived at 2.52pm as the anti-graft agency continued questioning him as a suspect in an investigation into four of his former senior officers, Bernama reported.
Ismail declared his assets to MACC on Feb 10 and was first questioned by the agency on Feb 19. He was also called in for questioning on March 13, 14, 17, 19, 20 and 24, and April 24 for around six hours each day.
Ismail, who collapsed at home on Feb 22 and was hospitalised for blood pressure-related problems, could not attend two previously scheduled sessions with MACC on March 5 and 7 as he was issued medical certificates by his doctor.
MACC is investigating the discovery of about RM170 million in cash and 16kg of gold bars worth millions of ringgit, seized in raids at the residences of the four officers and three other premises believed to be “safe houses”.
