PMX Anwar’s 31-member Cabinet
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12, 2023: Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today announced his first Cabinet reshuffle just a week into his second year in office.
The only clear disappointment to Malaysians was the retention of Anwar’s “useless” Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek who stubbornly defended her education officials who promoted the use of “violence and firearms” in schools in its so-called Solidarity for Palestinians Week.
To date, no one has been known to have been held responsible for the shocking endorsement of school children and education officials and teachers’ display of violence and firearms in schools.

Biggest winners and losers in Cabinet reshuffle
Some of the biggest changes in the Cabinet involve DAP.

(From left) V Sivakumar lost his place in the Cabinet to DAP colleague Steven Sim, while M Kula Segaran replaced Ramkarpal Singh as deputy law and institutional reform minister.
PETALING JAYA: DAP’s V Sivakumar appears to be the biggest loser in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet reshuffle, becoming the only minister to be dropped from the administration.
On the other hand, his replacement, Steven Sim, was promoted from deputy finance minister to human resources minister.
Sim, the Bukit Mertajam MP, is also the youngest minister in the Cabinet.
Sim’s previous post is now held by Lim Hui Ying, the sister of DAP chairman and former finance minister Lim Guan Eng.
Two deputy ministers were dropped from the lineup, the most prominent being Ramkarpal Singh, who was deputy law and institutional reform minister.
The Bukit Gelugor MP was replaced by Ipoh Barat MP M Kula Segaran, a former human resources minister in the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.
Meanwhile, Ramkarpal’s brother, Gobind Singh Deo, is back in the Cabinet as the digital minister. The Damansara MP was previously the communications and multimedia minister in the PH administration.
Beaufort MP Siti Aminah Aching was Umno’s sole casualty in the reshuffle, with her post as deputy plantation and commodities minister taken over by Chan Foong Hin. Chan was the deputy agriculture and food security minister prior to this.
While Siti Aminah is out, Wanita Umno chief Noraini Ahmad is back with a government post, albeit as a deputy minister. The former higher education minister is now deputy women, family and community development minister.
Another noteworthy appointment is PKR’s R Ramanan, who was named deputy entrepreneur and cooperatives development minister.
Ramanan, who is serving his first term as Sungai Buloh MP, is also the chairman of the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit or Mitra.
Dzulkefly, Johari back as federal ministers in Cabinet shake-up
Dzulkefly Ahmad returns as health minister, a portfolio he held between 2018 and 2020.
FMT Reporters - 12 Dec 2023, 11:16am
Umno’s Johari Ghani (left) served as second finance minister from 2016 to 2018 while Amanah’s Dzulkefly Ahmad was the health minister from 2018 to 2020.
PETALING JAYA: Amanah’s Dzulkefly Ahmad and Umno’s Johari Ghani have been appointed as federal ministers in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s first Cabinet reshuffle.
Dzulkefly will take over the health portfolio from Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

There are 31 ministers in Anwar’s revamped Cabinet, who will be aided by 29 deputy ministers. This is slightly larger than his initial 28-member Cabinet, which was assisted by 27 deputy ministers.
