For image info, go to https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2010/11/04/muslim-population-of-indonesia/ Malaysia is a country whose most professed religion is Islam. As of 2020, there were approximately 20.6 million Muslim adherents, or 63.5% of the population.
Race and Religion: Indonesia with about 205 million Muslims, no problem; Malaysia with 20.6 million, big problem
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21, 2023: A Focus Malaysia news report titled “Permatang Pauh residents oppose construction of Chinese cemetery in a 100% Muslim village” was shared on Facebook with this comment:
These are the racist people in Peninsula Malaysia doing a lot of damages to mankind.
Religion teaches PEACE but these bigots chose to divide the people with their evil voice and showing their low mentality instead of supremacy
In Indonesia, they constructed a huge icon or statue of Jesus but no issue.
President Jokowi officiated it.
With 95% Muslims, no problems in Indonesia but with 65% Muslims in Malaysia, big problems in their heads.
But corruption OK in Malaysia
Meanwhile, founder and president of the An-Nahdhoh Foundation Abdul Mutalib Maarof justified that as Islam is still the official religion, “the highest structure should be the mosque”.
“As such, if the columbarium is deemed taller than the mosque in terms of its physical stature, then this is a big insult to Muslims in Bukit Indera Muda if the project is approved,” lamented the prominent Muslim figure in his address to residents of Bukit Indera Muda.
So, what is the root problem of Malaysia's national unity and harmony? Intolerance and toxic racial and religious politics from both sides of the political divide.
After 66 years of Merdeka (Independence) 1957, there is simply no political will to end racial and religious by selfish politicians.
God save Malaysia (from racial and religious bigots)!

Permatang Pauh residents oppose construction of Chinese cemetery in a 100% Muslim village
By R. Bala
RESIDENTS of Bukit Indera Muda in Permatang Pauh (mainland Penang) have vehemently opposed the proposal to build a Chinese cemetery in the area, claiming it will give rise to various issues given that the population in the area is 100% Malay-Muslim.
According to Sinar Harian, the proposed development of a Chinese cemetery was first presented by the Seberang Perai Guang Dong Descendants Association. However, approximately 300 residents from the area gathered to voice their disapproval of the idea.
Chairman of the Jamek Al Muhtadin Mosque Parish, Azizan Ismail, said that the proposed development is not only inappropriate because it involves an area of 100% Muslim population but can also have various negative implications insofar as the sensitivity of the local populace is concerned.
According to him, the association is not only said to want to change the hill land in Lot 282, 729, 731, 297, 917, 918, 919 and part of Lot 922 and 263 Mukim 3 Seberang Perai as a cemetery land but will also develop a columbarium or a building to hold urns containing the ashes of dead people who have been cremated.
“We strongly object to this proposal because the entire population here is Malay Muslim and this proposal causes sensitivity to the population,” asserted Azizan.
Mutalib further justified that the residents would not have demonstrated if the relevant authorities, notably the local government (the Seberang Perai Municipal Council) has taken the necessary measures to prevent construction of “what is seemingly a five-star facility to go ahead in a village inhabited fully by the Malay Muslims”.
“Moreover, this is not an urgent project except to insult the Malays, their mosque, the madrasah (Islamic school) and even the Islamic kindergarten in the vicinity of Bukit Indera Muda,” he lamented.
“Our YB (PAS Penang Youth chief Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan) should use the power vested in him to oppose the project and see that it is eventually scrapped.”
For the record, Muhammad Fawwaz who is also the PAS Penang Youth chief has also personally voiced his displeasure over the project and “wanted it to be permanently scrapped”.
However, he claimed that there has been pressure from certain parties for the project to be approved and implemented immediately.
“In the near future the Chief Minister will make a decision whether this project should be cancelled or otherwise, hence we shall wait for the ultimate outcome,” added Muhammad Fawwaz who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth chief. – Dec 20, 2023

VETERAN journalist and blogger Datuk A. Kadir Jasin penned a reminder to “those who have forgotten and to inform those who do not know” three warnings from the great scholar, the late Sheikh Abdullah Fahim (1869-1961).
The three warnings which coincided with the country’s independence in 1957 are:
• When we are independent, let no leader take advantage by making wealth on the shoulders of the people.
• Whoever fights in the name of Allah and with good intentions is always under the protection of Allah, but whoever forgets good intentions, betrayal and greed will evoke the fury of Allah, and eventually, becomes humiliated.
• If the Muslims betray their race, country and religion, Allah will replace (with) other Muslim nations (to) protect our homeland.
“The first warning has already been breached. Many Malay leaders, from top to bottom, have taken the opportunity to loot the wealth at the expense of the people.
“The second warning has been trampled on. They swear in the name of the struggle. They chant slogans for religion, nation and country. They pray in front of Kaaba and swear in the house of Allah.
“But they forget their intentions. They are treacherous. They are greedy. Allah is angry and inflicts catastrophes. Some are already locked in prison while others continue to rule but are cursed and reviled,” said the former New Straits Times editor-in-chief in a Facebook post.
He said the third warning has not taken place yet but the signs are there.
“The Malays are divided. Political power is weakening. Economic power has long been withered.
“Quoting the phrase that is often referred to the myth of Hang Tuah, ‘the Malays will not be lost in the world’, we have to ask, how is the situation in Malaysia?” he added.
Sheikh Abdullah Fahim was a Malaysian nationalist and religious scholar. He was Penang’s first mufti after independence. He is also the paternal grandfather of former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. – The Vibes, December 21, 2023.

Tawfik: Jakim too influential than it should be
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20, 2023: According to a leader of an independent electoral movement, the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has become more influential than it should be as the result of Members of Parliament (MPs) not well versed in the Federal Constitution (view the above video clip).
Tawfik Ismail, a former MP from Umno, said Jakim’s outreach today was because it had become a political tool of conservative politicians.
Under the Federal Constitution, matters concerning Muslims and Islam (religious affairs) are under the purview of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Sultans.
For decades, federal governments (elected once every five years) have been allocating multi-millions of Ringgit, now billions of Ringgit, to Jakim in annual budgets.
Really, can anyone cite Jakim having contributed to national unity and harmony among multi-racial-religious Malaysians.
Instead, it has come up with public issues that divided race and religion. The billions of Ringgit can be put to better use for socio-economic development for the rakyat dan negara (people and country).
Aren’t the King and Sultans capable or competent to handle (Islamic) religious issues? Why then waste billions of Ringgit to duplicate the work of religious affairs? Allocate adequate budgets for the Royalty to manage Islamic affairs.
It is certainly time for the so-called Madani Unity Government to review Jakim’s establishment.
