Time for Zahid to reward DAP leaders with a pat on the cheek for being such a good political lapdog?

It’s crystal clear DAP is now the new PH and Umno No.1 political lapdog

KUALA LUMPUR, March 22, 2024: Yet again, the once “loud mouth” DAP is relatively muted when it comes to elite racial and religious bigoted politicians.

No News Is Bad News is referring to Umno Youth Chief Dr Akmal Saleh.

Lawyer and social activist Siti Kasim said: “I recently saw a TikTok video where he (Akmal) was seen calling the Malays to be ready. He was seen sharpening a parang (machete) ... this is something the police must act on.

"It is like he is instigating the Malays to create problems. Islam never teaches us all this.”

Yet, the DAP is realtively muted. At least, one MCA politician had the guts to condemn Akmal’s racial and religious bigotry, thus far.

It is now crystal clear that DAP is today a far cry from what it was when it was in the Opposition. It is crystal clear that DAP is now a lapdog in the so-called Madani Unity Government.

Akmal’s actions will see BN viewed with contempt, says MCA senator

Ti Lian Ker says the Umno Youth chief’s tendency to ‘play judge, jury and executioner’ will irk the people.

Ti Lian Ker said Dr Akmal Saleh would react emotionally to issues and ‘disregard the law’.

PETALING JAYA: An MCA senator said Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh’s tendency to play “judge, jury and executioner” will irk the public who will subsequently view Barisan Nasional with contempt.

Ti Lian Ker said Akmal would react emotionally to issues and disregard the law and, at times, take the law into his own hands.

“Such arrogance will only see the people get fed up with Umno and BN,” he said during the debate on the king’s address in the Dewan Negara today.

Ti, a former MCA vice-president, also claimed that Akmal had inspired a group of “vigilantes” to take matters into their own hands.

When contacted, Ti said the vigilantes he was referring to was a silat group who confronted a Facebook user who had allegedly made an insensitive remark when commenting on the controversy surrounding the sale of socks with the word “Allah”.

“This may be tantamount to criminal intimidation or an assault although there’s no battery. We don’t want this trend to continue that may result in violence and injury”, he said, echoing a sentiment by former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Latheefa Koya.

Latheefa had described the actions of the silat group as “bullying and distasteful” on X two days ago, adding that if one felt an offence had been committed, they should just lodge a police report instead of resorting to “roadside justice”.

In September last year, Ti had taken Akmal to task after he “raided” rice mills in Melaka, where he also allegedly threatened to revoke a rice miller’s licence and seize the goods as well as seal off the factory.

Ti had slammed Akmal’s action, saying it was beyond his jurisdiction and could amount to bullying and intimidation.

Recently, Akmal had been pushing for a boycott of KK Mart over the socks issue and vowed to continue doing so despite comments from some leaders that the matter should not be prolonged.

He also said KK Mart’s apology was insufficient, and that no party should get away with “a single apology” for insulting religion, and demanded for apology banners to be displayed at all of the store’s 881 outlets.

Does DAP still stand for democracy and justice for Malaysians?

In name, DAP stands for Democratic Action Party … but does it now really stand for democracy and justice?

Does DAP still stand for democracy and justice for Malaysians?

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29, 2023: Clearly, there is something wrong with the DAP and its 40 Members of Parliament.

And, perhaps, it has all to do with being in power and governance that it has abandoned many of its former ethical issues.

Today, it is now just a lapdog political party (just as Umno’s top lapdog MCA), muted on the many issues that it used to fight for.

The arm chairs are just getting too comfortable for the DAP leaders who have, obviously, taken the rakyat (people)’s support for granted.

With the party rejecting Kuala Lumpur DAP chairman and Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai’s proposal for local elections, is the DAP still a party that stands for democracy and justice for Malaysians?

No News Is Bad News reproduces an opinion piece written by former Penang deputy chief minister and DAP member Dr P.Ramasamy and posted by suspected CIA-backed political website Malaysia Chronicle:

THE 'GREAT PRETENDER' DAP FINALLY SHOWS ITS REAL POLITICAL FACE

Written by P Ramasamy

KUALA LUMPUR (Politics Now!) - Housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming just confirmed that local council elections are not his ministry’s priority.

In other words, he refused to back the proposal of his senior party colleague, Tan Kok Wai, who is the Kuala Lumpur DAP chairman and Cheras MP.

More than a week ago, Tan called for the introduction of local council elections by starting with Kuala Lumpur.

However, he was criticised by Malay nationalists who said that local elections would not benefit the Malays but the non-Malays, particularly, the Chinese.

Since the Chinese dominate the urban areas, having local government elections might complicate the racial situation in the country.

These Malay nationalists refused to consider why the Malay political parties in the Malay heartlands are not keen to have local elections.

Since ethnicity is not an issue, why the fear? Is it fear of democracy, or the invisible Chinese?

I can understand the position of the Malay nationalists in Umno and in Perikatan Nasional (PN), but no DAP or PKR leaders have emerged to support Tan’s idea.

Tan’s own colleagues in DAP have failed to come forward to support his proposal.

What is so wrong about the noble idea of local government elections?

After the hot and acrimonious debate was just about to subside, Nga emerged to say that the government has other priorities than local government elections.

Why Nga had to wait so long to have a say on the issue remains a mystery.

It is obvious that DAP is divided on the question of local government elections. Gone are the days when the party had local government elections as its top priority. Election campaigns invariably raised the issue of local government elections.

Now, with power and positions, the political scenario has changed.

I think Tan raised the issue of local government elections out of frustration. But, unfortunately, he had no takers in the party.

Under attack from the nationalists, Tan could not defend himself. The party abandoned him completely.

It is a shame that Nga did not come to the rescue of his colleague, Tan.

Instead, he completely undermined Tan by saying that local government elections are not the government’s priority.

Maybe Nga should spell out the priorities of the government.

Is it about enjoying the rewards of power and positions?

Is it about DAP, with 40 MPs, performing the role of an appendage to the government?

Essentially, it is not about Tan’s proposal for local government elections or the dismissal of their priority by Nga.

It is more about the political trajectory of DAP that stood for democracy and justice in the country.

By side-stepping the crucial principled political issues, the party is slowly but surely shedding its old pretensions.

DAP SLAPS ITSELF IN THE FACE - NOW LOCAL GOVT ELECTIONS ONLY A "MAYBE IN 10 YEARS' TIME" - AS UMNO & PAS BRING OUT THEIR FAVE BOGEYMAN - THAT LOCAL POLLS WILL MAKE MALAYS LOSE THEIR POLITICAL DOMINANCE TO THE CHINESE

KUALA LUMPUR (Politics Now!) - It looks like the DAP is bailing out on yet another promise to voters - this time by insisting local council election is not a priority and "maybe in 10 years' time" Malaysians might finally get a taste of better, more targeted and efficient governance.

“Our country has just recovered from political upheaval, so now is the time to calm the political situation and focus on work that can benefit the public," DAP's housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming told reporters on Thursday (Dec 28).

“Everything will happen at the right time. Local council elections … are not the ministry’s priority at the moment,” he said, adding that his ministry is now focussed on rolling out 5,000 public facilities like playgrounds, toilets and hawker centres each year.

“Maybe in 10 years when the ministry completes 50,000 public facilities … maybe that’s the time (to have local council elections),” he said in jest.

FACTUALLY WRONG & RACIST

Local elections in Malaysia were suspended in the 1960s and replaced by a system of appointed heads, with mayors of city councils as well as presidents of municipal and district councils being appointed by the state governments.

On Dec 17, Kuala Lumpur DAP chairman and Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai called on the federal government to start local government elections in the capital city first to bolster democracy.

However, the suggestion was immediately panned as “insensitive and provocative” by Dr Akmal Saleh,  the youth chief of ally party Umno.

It didn't take long before other Malay-centric parties, especially from the opposition, to jump on the bandwagon - labelling local elections as anti-Malay and would allow the Malaysian Chinese to grab their political dominance.

In a post on X on Monday, Pas commissioner Azhar Yahya warned local council elections would result in "monopoly" by the Malaysian Chinese.

“What guarantees are there that Malays will win seats and have a majority voice to ensure that the rights and privileges of Islam and Malays are preserved as stipulated in Article 3 of the Federal Constitution?” wrote Azhar.

Pas Youth chief Azmer Syazwan also claimed that Kok Wai's call has triggered “disharmony among the people” - lodging a police report against the DAP man for sparking "racial tensions".

In retaliation, the youth wing of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's PKR party has lodged its own police report - counter-claiming that the Pas commissioner's comments were not only "factually wrong" but was itself racist.

Wangsa Maju police chief Ashari Abu Samah confirmed receiving the PKR man's report, revealing that the case had been referred to the Bukit Aman classified crime investigation unit as it touches on 3R (race, religion and royalty) issues.

Man nabbed over ‘insulting’ posting on ‘Allah’ socks issue

FMT Reporters

The 35-year-old owner of the Facebook account ‘Chiok Wai Loong’ was arrested in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Photographs of the socks bearing the word ‘Allah’ went viral on social media last week. (Facebook pic)

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a man over a Facebook posting deemed insulting to Islam concerning the sale of socks bearing the word “Allah”.

Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director Shuhaily Zain said the 35-year-old owner of the Facebook account “Chiok Wai Loong” was arrested in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

He is under remand until Sunday.

The case is being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony on grounds of religion and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities.

“The case is still being investigated. We urge members of the public to be prudent and wise in using social media, and to avoid making statements that can cause disharmony or disunity, especially involving the 3Rs (race, religion and royalty),” he said in a statement.

The controversy arose after photographs of the socks, sold at KK Mart’s Bandar Sunway store, appeared on social media last Wednesday, earning the ire of the Muslim community and sparking calls for a boycott by Umno Youth.

On Saturday, the company apologised and expressed regret over the incident, although Umno Youth said the apology was inadequate and demanded KK Mart display apology banners at all of its 881 stores nationwide for selling the socks.

The vendor of the convenience store chain, meanwhile, said it was considering legal action for negligence against its supplier in China.

The socks were only found at three KK Mart outlets in Selangor.

Previously, a group of men confronted a man in Cheras over a Facebook post he made concerning the issue.

The men then posted a video of the man, believed to be the suspect who was arrested yesterday, making a public apology over the posting and promising not to comment on other religions any more.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 21, 2024: Polis di-Raja Malaysia and the so-called Madani Unity Government (UG) are simply disgusting.

They are shameless with their clear practice of selective persecution and prosecution on matters related to 3R (Race, Religion Royalty).

There are so many untouchables who stubbornly continue to threaten national security and harmony with impunity - yet there is no action by the police.

A clear example is the racist and religious bigoted Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh

Lawyer and social activist Siti Kasim said: “I recently saw a TikTok video where he (was seen calling the Malays to be ready. He was seen sharpening a parang (machete) ... this is something the police must act on.

"It is like he is instigating the Malays to create problems. Islam never teaches us all this.”

If any other Malaysian had did the same, the police would almost act immediately to haul him or her up.

What was Akmal getting at when he called on Malays to be ready, while sharpening a parang.? Ready for what?

Is Akmal’s behaviour bordering terrorism?

The police and UG are getting more sickening by the day on managing racial and religious sensitivities.

Unfortunately for Malaysians and Malaysia, , there appears to be no sane lawmakers or parties with the political will and courage to respond and act to stop such public insanity.

LAWYER and social activist Siti Kasim today stressed that Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh does not represent the voice of the Malays in the country over the KK Mart - "Allah" socks debacle.

"Sorry, you do not represent me and many others. We are not stupid (bodoh) nor ignorant. It is no longer like in the past.

"You should look after your own house... your Mersing Umno youth chief ... What have you done about that? Nothing I guess," she said in a video posted on her Facebook.

She said politicians from all parties concerned should stop using the KK Mart - "Allah" socks debacle in an attempt to gain political mileage.

"The government is taking action. It has in the past acted against all those who have insulted Islam. We have our laws.

"I have said it before ... all politicians are the same and the Malays are made to look like fools," she said.

She said Akmal wanted to make it seem like he was a saviour and safeguarding Islam.

"All he is doing is safeguarding his pocket. Stop using religion knowing people are sensitive about such issues.

"I recently saw a TikTok video where he was seen calling the Malays to be ready. He was seen sharpening a parang ... this is something the police must act on.

"It is like he is instigating the Malays to create problems. Islam never teaches us all this," said Siti.

She urged Akmal to 'shut up' and stop acting like a 'hero'.

"We are not 'bodoh' like you think. Lay off this subject and let the police investigate.

"It may be a genuine mistake ... After all, the company involved is huge, and we should let the authorities investigate.

"We have a brain given to us by God and we need to use it. This hype is only among politicians and in reality, the Malays on the ground are not bothered about it. Stop manipulating this issue for your political mileage," she added. - The Vibes, March 21, 2024

Malaysia passes controversial anti-terror bill

PM Najib ended indefinite detention without trial in 2012 - but the new law brings it back

Malaysia has passed a controversial anti-terrorism bill, which the government says is needed to tackle the threat from Islamic extremists.

The bill reintroduces indefinite detention without trial - something the prime minister had repealed in 2012.

Human Rights Watch called the move "a giant step backwards for human rights".

It was passed hours after the police announced the detention of 17 suspected militants believed to be planning attacks in the capital, Kuala Lumpur.

Home Minister Zahid Hamidi said those arrested, the youngest just 14, were planning to attack police stations and army bases to gather weapons.

Two of the suspects had just returned from Syria, police said.

'Grievous blow'

Debate on the anti-terrorism bill went late into Monday night in parliament.

Under the legislation, suspects can be held without trial for up to two years, with multiple extensions allowed after that. Decisions on their detention will be made by a terrorism board, rather than the judiciary.

It also allows the authorities to revoke travel documents, both Malaysian and foreign, of people travelling to or from Malaysia to support or engage in terrorism.

The bill still needs approval from the Senate, but the chamber is dominated by the ruling coalition and it is expected to pass.

Malaysia scrapped its Internal Security Act - which permitted indefinite detention without trial - in April 2012 amid public concern it was using the legislation to stifle political debate and lock up critics.

But it replaced the colonial-era law with powers that permitted 28-day detention.

Opposition lawmaker N Surendran, quoted by AFP news agency, said the new anti-terror law was "open to abuse and is a grievous blow to democracy".

Malaysians largely supported Prime Minister Najib Razak's call for an anti-terror bill last year after he revealed that 19 suspects linked to the Islamic State militant group had escaped court charges due to insufficient proof.

But Mr Najib is under pressure from his party also to be tough on government critics after his coalition lost the popular vote in the last election.

In recent months, a number of high-profile dissidents have been detained under the sedition act. Activists say the new bill is another tool to silence opposition.

Officials assure Malaysians that the proposed law cannot be used against people with different political beliefs. But Malaysia's Bar Council says this is a "false comfort" because the bill is vague.

It comes down to trust. And Mr Najib's image as a reformer has taken a battering.

Phil Robertson of Human Rights Watch said that by "restoring indefinite detention without trial, Malaysia has re-opened Pandora's Box for politically motivated, abusive state actions".

Malaysia - a Muslim-majority nation - says it is concerned about the effect on domestic security of those who have fought with or support Islamic extremists in Syria and Iraq.

In January, Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said 67 Malaysians were known to have gone to Syria and Iraq, including five who had been killed. One hundred and twenty people suspected of links to the Islamic State militant groups were being held in Malaysia, he said.

But the government has also been clamping down on critics in recent months.

Journalists, activists and opposition figures have all been targeted by the equally controversial sedition law, which regulates speech deemed to incite unrest or religious and social tensions.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, meanwhile, remains in prison after being convicted of sodomy - an act which is illegal in Malaysia but for which few are ever prosecuted.

He says the case against him is aimed at keeping him out of politics.
