KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31, 2025: Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister (PMX) Anwar Ibrahim is clearly taking the support of Malaysians for granted.

He appears to care more or giving priority to the Palestines than Malaysians.

While other Islamic or Muslim-majority countries in the world are rather mum about extending financial assistance to the Hamas-led Palestine (read as terrorists), now PMX announced that Malaysia would begin rebuilding efforts in Gaza by constructing a school, hospital, and mosque as part of a broader initiative in collaboration with the Japanese government.

What about the lack of acceptable-infrastructure schools and hospitals, lack of medical services and medicine for poor needy Malaysians, and Malaysians’ burden of servicing the RM1.35 national debt?

Are you, Anwar, the prime minister of Malaysia or Palestine?

Look at the following three comments plucked from Facebook, and the video clips above:

> I'd look at this from a different perspective, if I may...building more schools , hospitals, mosques etc for our own nation is justified and a noble cause..no doubt about that..but using the billions lost from 1MDB saga is a real huge national loss..a travesty of massive justice..!! With the billions recovered from these 2 rascals ( Najib and Jho Low) they can afford to build thousands of these buildings and improve our infrastructure ..? Or maybe PMX is already quite certain of some recovery and working out with China and Xi to mend the relationship closer and to apprehend Jho Low is on the cards..PMX can be quite secretive..for a good reason..if he can forge a close friendship with Xi..Jho Low's stay in China are numbered..!! With that losses recovered, I dont see why PMX cant portray himself as a Islamic nationalist or hero worldwide..? Putting his name to shine in the Muslim world is putting the name of Malaysia on the world map..!! More investments and businesses generated from the MEast and more tourists coming here...isnt this a good thing..? Think deeper and wider lah..not all is wasted.. our PMX a Penangite is not stupid but a rather cunning and sly fella ..good at talking but not slacking in thinking..!! Hopefully not overthunking !!

> A global statesman he is not and will never be. A global hypocrite he is and will always be.

> How about building more schools n upgrading our hospitals Mr Anwar....Our pensioners are crying for more $$ to survive, our schools lack basic facilities especially in E. Mal. What about our national debt, Rm1.35 trillion n counting, what about our economy, Mr Anwar !!!!!

The prime minister says the projects are our sacrifice as a society and a nation to help rebuild Gaza.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will begin rebuilding efforts in Gaza by constructing a school, hospital, and mosque as part of a broader initiative in collaboration with the Japanese government, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced today.

He said the projects would be carried out with the support of the private sector and the Malaysian people.

“This is our effort, our sacrifice as a society and a nation (to help rebuild Gaza),” he said in a video recording today.

Anwar also said that Malaysia and Japan are working together to establish a fund under the East Asian Cooperation Framework for Palestinian Development (Ceapad) to accelerate Gaza’s reconstruction.

“Thanks to the efforts of the government and foreign minister (Mohamad Hasan), we have secured confirmation to expedite this programme,” he added.

Japan’s initiative to assist in Gaza’s recovery was discussed during Japanese prime minister Shigeru Ishiba’s visit to Malaysia earlier this month.

On Jan 18, Anwar was reported to have said that the reconstruction of Gaza, which was almost entirely destroyed due to Israeli attacks since October 2023, is estimated to cost over US$1 trillion.

Ceapad was initiated by Japan in 2013 to support Palestinian state-building efforts by drawing on the resources, knowledge and experiences of East Asian countries.
