Wake up, Anwar and UG … or face the wrath of the rakyat (people) in GE16
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25, 2025: The anti-graft rally here today showed how frustrated and disappointed the rakyat (people) is with the Pakatan Harapan (PH)’s electoral promises of reforms to date.
It also confirms Malaysians’ continued condemnation of Anwar Ibrahim’s so-called Madani Unity Government (UG)’s support (especially the racial and religious bigoted Umno) for Malaysia’s No.1 thief/kleptoract, the disgraced, shameless and unrepentant former prime minister Najib “1MDB” Razak.
Najib has stolen millions, if not billions, of Ringgit from the rakyat dan negara (people and country). That is why the former Umno president is now serving his jail sentence in the Kajang Prison.
And the people have to shoulder the burden of settling 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB)’s debts for the next decade or two.
How else not to look at the issue this way with such a rally poster, portraying Anwar as the Father Of Freeing The Corrupt (see above image).
The Facebook image has this caption:

HE HAD ALL THE GOODWILL FROM HIS SUPPORTERS AND PH VOTERS TO BECOME MALAYSIA’s 10th PRIME MINISTER.
HE BLEW IT… DESPITE HE WAS GIVEN A GENEROUS ONE AND A HALF YEARS OF “HONEYMOON” PERIOD AS PRIME MINISTER TO KICKSTART HIS REFORMASI PROMISES.
NONE CAME… IN FACT IT GOT WORSE…HE CONTINUED MORE PASSIONATELY WITH UMNO’s DESPICABLE 3-R POLICIES.
…. HE WAS JUST ANOTHER UMNO WARLORD WHO BECAME THE 10th PRIME MINISTER.

This afternoon, around 200 protesters gathered near Sogo shopping mall and marched towards Dataran Merdeka despite the drizzle.
Their message was clear, Malaysian youths could no longer stomach the “cancer” called corruption.
Among the posters they brought carried the words “No house arrest for Najib” and a caricature of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, bearing the words “Bapa Pembebasan Perasuah” (Father of Releasing the Corrupt).
They sang and chanted their way to the square, holding drums and posters, under the watchful eyes of the authorities who did not stop them.
Some of the participants could be heard chanting “Hidup, hidup, anak muda” (long live the youths) and “kita turun, kita lawan” (we’re here, we’ll fight)
The multiracial crowd of protesters mainly comprised youths. Their march was carried out under grey skies and some drizzle.
Also present were
- Suara Rakyat Malaysia executive director Sevan Doraisamy,
- Parti Sosialis Malaysia deputy chairperson S Arutchelvan,
- activist Fahmi Reza,
- former MACC chief commissioner Latheefa Koya, and
- Lawyers for Liberty director Zaid Malek.
The protesters, mostly clad in black T-shirts, first gathered at Sogo at about 2.30pm today, breaching barricades that were set up there.
Police and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers did not prevent them from doing so.
During a press conference later, Sekretariat Rakyat Benci Rasuah secretary Zaim Zulkifli said the rally was the beginning of a wave against issues that plague the country such as corruption.
“This is the beginning of us building a fresher ‘wave’.
“We’re confident that this time there is a need for new faces in our own students, born from us, to bring forward civil issues,” he said.
The crowd later dispersed peacefully at around 4.30pm.
Anwar and UG must take the rally seriously and implement measures and actions to remedy the perception of their support for the super corrupt Najib or it may face serious political backlashes in the next general election in 2027.
PH’s UG will face the wrath of the rakyat if the seriousness of the anti-graft rally is ignored. Ensure that Najib remains in prison if UG wants to retain the rakyat’s confidence in the fight against corruption and kleptocrats.
