Even a housewife knows better than Dr M

No News Is Bad News

Even a housewife knows better than Dr M

KUALA LUMPUR, June 17, 2023: The divide-and-rule Dr Mahathir Mohamad is a statesman-turned-pariah of his own accord.

He just does not know how to retire from politics gracefully. Instead, at 97, he is still at it - resorting to fanning racial and religious sentiments to shatter national unity just to consolidate his power.

However, Dr M does not realise that he is now politically irrelevant politically - in the last 15th General Election (GE15) he and all his party candidates were soundly rejected, losing their deposits.

Yet, they still do not know where they stand and continues to fan racial and religious bigotry, not a care for national unity and harmony for rakyat dan negara (people and country).

And in a Facebook posting, a housewife knows better what is good for the rakyat dan negara than the “old political fox” who has obviously overstayed to ruin his reputation and whatever legacy.

No News Is Bad News reproduces below the housewife’s letter and a posting in this blog:

*LETTER TO TUN DR MAHATHIR*

* From:- Patricia D’Cruz*

Dear Tun Dr Mahathir,

I am not a politician, nor an academic, nor a CEO of importance. In fact I am a housewife with no great ambition save for wanting my family to be safe and sound and above all happy.

A little insight into my background. My father was actually born in Malaysia or rather Malaya as it was called at that time. We are talking about 1933. His forefathers came from Kerala. My mother on the other hand came to Malaya to get married to my father. Now my paternal forefathers did not come as indentured slaves to work on the estates. In fact they had nothing to do with the British at all. It was a rather romantic story actually. My paternal grandfather was a Hindu by the name of Krishnan Nair. He fell in love with a Christian woman (my late paternal grandmother) by the name of Emily D Cruz. Now as it was in the case in those times (and still is in many parts of Kerala) a union between people of two different faiths was frowned upon. So what did these two star crossed lovers do? They eloped of course and ended up in Malaya. Now Muthachan must've had some cash on him because he managed to secure a piece of land that is now part of the Pahang roundabout next to the General Hospital Kuala Lumpur and built a little house there replete with livestock and a little vegetable plot. He managed to secure a very humble position as a hospital attendant and both he and my Valiammachi started their family. I won't go into much further detail as it is unnecessary.

Now Mummy on the other hand came all the way to Swarnabumi (in case you have forgotten that Malaya was also known as that. Surprising that it sounds very much like Sanskrit a language known to be from India). Now Mummy's family was not poor in any sense of the word. Her sister whose husband was gainfully employed in the estates worked as a Clerk, her eldest brother was working as an Accountant in the estates and another older brother as a Clerk in Lever Brothers. So they were not destitute shall we say as you implied in your speech that all Indians were.. They were educated and decided to seek their fortunes in a foreign land, Much like your late father, who if I am not mistaken was also from Kerala, God's Own Country, right?

What I want to take from this is that in actual fact you are not a pure Malay as you would like to portray yourself. Am I right? In fact if your claim to be a pure Malay bears any truth in it at all, then Malays do not follow their mother's parentage but their father's. Which would make you what? A Malayalee? (I take that as an unforgivable insult to us - pure Malayalees).

Now, of course, there is a point to this long tirade. When I read your tirade at the recent gathering of Malays at the Malay Dignity Congress I was appalled. There was no need to extol the virtues of Malays by insulting the other races. Now Zainal Kling (what a whopper of a misnomer) is a joke. Whatever academic qualifications he possesses, he should not be allowed to teach at all. In fact he should not be allowed to be in public as he is capable of causing mischief of humongous proportions, But you!!!

What were you thinking when you decided to insult the Indians and Chinese? You who are the offspring of a "Pendatang" yourself?

What became of the wild promises you made to the Nation (which of course includes all the different races)?

If it were not for the Chinese who sweated blood and tears toiling away at tin mines and the Indians slaving away at the rubber estates, what do you think would've happened to this beloved country? We built this country Tun. The Malays, the Chinese, the Indians and the other races. Together. Blood, sweat and tears.

Do not tear it down for your political gain. You did a lot of damage in your previous tenure as Prime Minister. Your old antics of divide and rule did not go down well then. And is not going down well now either.

When I cast my vote for your party, I truly believed that you had changed and would make a people's Prime Minister second time round. I cried when the then Agong kept you waiting for hours for your installation as PM.

But a leopard never changes it's spots, does it?

And by the way, let me tell you, yes tell you, that I am proud of my Indian roots. I am proud of my culture, my traditions. It is who I am. I will never ever forsake my roots to help me attain my goals. It is akin to disowning my parents.

And I am sure the Chinese feel the same way about their ancient and prolific roots.

You think it is an insult to accept and embrace your father's ancestry? What does that say about you?

We may be Chinese or Indians by ancestry, BUT never ever question our loyalty. WE ARE MALAYSIANS FIRST. Tanah tumpahnya darahku. We have every right to this SWARNABUMI as you do. Malaysia is for Malaysians. Not just Malays.

My late father instilled in me the love for my country. He was fiercely proud of this nation called Malaysia. Proud to have been Malaysian. From the time I was a little child till I attained my teens it was a family tradition to witness the National Day celebrations at Merdeka Square. Come rain, come shine my Dad, my Mum and I would be there. Cheering as the parade marched by. How much more patriotic can you get. Never failing to stand to attention, no matter where we were, when the Negaraku was played or singing it out loud with pride.

If at all you want to talk about pendatangs, then it is the sole right of the Orang Asli to question pendatangs including the current Malays - most, if not all, have ancestors who came from the surrounding countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, China and India. The orang asli are the true owners and bumiputras of this beautiful land that you, I and the rest are squatting on.

It is indeed shameful that a Prime Minister of a country participates in a gathering condemning his own people who together came as a Nation to put him in charge.

I won't even bother to talk about your ill-considered addresses on the world stage. You condemn other countries for the atrocities caused by them to unfortunate nations. Yet what are you and your cohorts doing to our beloved Nation?

I rue the day you took over. You have not changed one bit. You still play the dirty game of divide and rule. God have mercy on your avaricious soul. You are to be pitied. For when your time is over, and it can't be soon enough for so BBme of us, you will be remembered as someone who not only reneged on promises made but one who caused discord among the races.

Patricia D Cruz.

Dr M - from statesman to a pariah

Dr M - from statesman to a pariah

KUALA LUMPUR (May 5, 2023): Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Dr M) , who “ruled” Malaysia for more than two decades, is today an extremely pathethic politician.

He was aptly described by PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli as “ a stubborn old man who does not know how to retire honorably and gracefully befitting a statesman”.

As if he did not feel the disgraceful public slap on his face when he and his party members all lost their deposits in General Election 15 (GE15), he continues to play the “ divide and rule” politics.

Today, for his political agenda and convenience, he continues to play the religious and facial cards --- this time working dangerously with the Taliban-like PAS to topple the Anwar Ibrahim-led Unity Government (UG).

Free Malaysia Today (FMT)reported yesterday (May 4, 2023) that Dr M’s “Malay Proclamation” was signed by various Opposition party leaders, hardly surprising, as they are going all out to drum up anti-Government sentiments to topple Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister.

Even the Johor Sultan has called on Malaysians to stop using race and religion in their bid to topple Anwar’s UG.

“Enough is enough. Use constructive criticisms and Paliamentary debates to help in nation-building and to achieve your (political) agenda legitimately and peacefully,” the Sultan was quoted by the media.

But, are they listening?

The Opposition today is jest bent on creating political instability, using dangerous racial and religious utterances to create national disunity for their selfish agenda.

Are they working for Malaysians and the country? Do they have their hearts for the well-bring of Malaysians and Malaysia?

Malaysians are well aware of the political antics of PAS, so there is no necessity to clarify the party’s agenda. But what about the likes of Muhyiddin Yassin and his former Umno comrades who had lost their Government positions through their own political folly?

Now, they are all crying “We need to save the poor Malays”, “The Malays are losing their ruling status”, etc

Really? Why then is the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) and the Sultan still revered by Malaysians, why is the prime minister, the Defence Force chief, Inspector-General of Police, and 90% of the civil service are Malays?

What Malaysians should be asking is what has Dr M and previous Governments achieved for the Malays if they are still behind others in more ways than one? Certainly the others did steal or rob to progress socio-economically.

Lest we forget, Anwar was named one of the top four finance ministers of 1993 by Euromoney magazine. He delivered seven years of budget surpluses for Malaysia - no other finance minister has been able to do that evence once.

On that record alone, Anwar should given the right and reasonble time to lead Malaysians and Malaysia higher socio-economic heights.

So, why are Opposition politicians trying to topple Anwar and his UG?

They want to grab power, return to the days of “business as usual” and enjoy the “largesse era” that has saddled Malaysians with more than RM1.5 trillion in national debt.

Dr M rallying anti-Anwar groups with ‘Malay Proclamation’, say analysts

However, the signing of the document by various opposition leaders can also lead to an attempt to overthrow the unity government.

PETALING JAYA: The signing of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s “Malay Proclamation” by various opposition party leaders is more likely an attempt to rally those who are against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim ahead of the state elections, say analysts.

Awang Azman Pawi of Universiti Malaya said bringing together all the “anti-Anwar” groups would strengthen the opposition’s influence among the Malay voters.

“With this Malay Proclamation, the opposition can cultivate the Malay sentiments, especially among their staunch supporters in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah,” he told FMT.

Similarly, James Chin of University of Tasmania said Mahathir is simply gathering all the “anti-Anwar” groups to show how powerful they could be when they band together.

“They all share the same aim, which is to bring down Anwar. They can test this during the upcoming six state elections,” he said.

Yesterday, it was reported that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and several leaders from the party signed the proclamation after a meeting with Mahathir.

Three Bersatu leaders – its deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu, information chief Razali Idris and Supreme Council member Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid – have also signed the document in their personal capacity.

Last week, Mahathir, who was once critical of PAS, said the people should not fear the “green wave” of support for Perikatan Nasional, pointing out that Malaysia saw rapid development when it was governed by a Malay-majority government for 60 years.

Meanwhile, Tunku Mohar Mokhtar of the International Islamic University Malaysia said one should be wary of the proclamation signings as they could lead to an attempt to overthrow the unity government.

However, he said the unity government should not “lose sleep” over the matter as it would not be easy to repeat the Sheraton Move.

“The situation today is different because there is now the anti-hopping law and a memorandum of understanding signed by component parties in the unity government,” he said.

PETALING JAYA – Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has panned lawmakers who have threatened to destabilise the nation, following alleged plans by some to topple the unity government.

Taking his concerns to Instagram, the ruler expressed his concern over “incessant” reports regarding the stability of the current unity government although six months have passed since the 15th general election (GE15).

“The rakyat had high hopes during the recent GE15 and voted for 222 representatives to bring back political stability to the country,” the sultan said in the posting this evening.

“But until today, the 222 MPs cannot get on the same page with efforts made to derail the stability that is being carefully built.”

“This is not healthy for the entire nation, whether socially, economically, or even for our standing internationally.”

Sultan Ibrahim also said Malaysians should not have to endure such uncertainties for long, adding that “enough is enough”.

The ruler also stressed that the economy must be allowed to recover, therefore the nation’s pursuit of prosperity must be prioritised.

Previously, The Vibes reported that there were rumours of a fresh plot by Perikatan Nasional to unseat Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.

Subsequently, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said with the anti-hopping law and the two-third majority, any attempt to topple the unity government would not be an easy feat. – The Vibes, May 3, 2023

Dr M is a liability now, says Zahid

The Umno president wishes Dr Mahathir Mohamad ‘all the best’ with his ‘Malay Proclamation’.

FMT Reporters - 04 May 2023, 6:27pm

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the unity government had greater ‘meaning’ than Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s ‘Malay Proclamation’.

PETALING JAYA: Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has described Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the “latest liability” in the political landscape, in dismissing the former prime minister’s “Malay Proclamation”.

Zahid said the unity government had greater “meaning” than Mahathir’s proclamation, though the latter had managed to obtain the support of PAS and Bersatu leaders as well as individuals such as Annuar Musa and Zuraida Kamaruddin.

“I wish PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Mahathir all the best following their recent meeting. I say this because we all know that Mahathir is the latest liability in Malaysian politics,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying.

“This is proven by his loss in Langkawi (during the 15th general election) where he lost his deposit. In fact, none of the candidates from his party won a seat.

“If this meeting (over the ‘Malay Proclamation’) is truly to unite the Malays, they must know that Umno is the biggest Malay-Bumiputera party and that the unity government has greater meaning to the country.”

He was commenting on Hadi and other PAS leaders signing Mahathir’s “Malay Proclamation” in the presence of the former Langkawi MP to signify their support for his call for Malays to unite and “save” the community.

Three Bersatu leaders – deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu, information chief Razali Idris and Supreme Council member Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid – have also signed the proclamation in their personal capacities.

Zahid called for an end to political instability, saying this had greatly affected the country over the past four years with Malaysia seeing three prime ministers in a period of five years.

The deputy prime minister added that all political parties should heed the Johor ruler’s call for political stability to ensure the nation could progress and grow its economy.

“The government is stable now with 148 MPs supporting it, and that needs to increase further.”
