Of unrepentant Umno leaders …

 No News Is Bad News

Umno and Pakatan Harapan leaders need to consolidate their political might to keep Anwar Ibrahim’s Unity Government relevant to Malaysians, not treating each other as political rivals and resorting to hostile verbatim attacks.

Of unrepentant Umno leaders …

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20, 2023: It will do well for Umno leaders like Terengganu Umno chief Ahmad Said to refrain from continous hostile verbal political talk.

Such leaders must adapt to the new political reality that they are now in power and it would serve them well to ensure that the Anwar Ibrahim-led Unity Government (UG).

Ahmad said Anwar’s PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat/Justice Party) should prove itself before demanding seats.

Such hostility serves only as political fodder for PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in election campaigns, as it displays insincerity in UG.

Just what is Ahmad trying to achieve or hope to achieve with such utterances?

Is he not aware that the same could be levcelled at Umno in Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan and Kedah?

To Ahmad and others of his kind, repent, rethink and restrategise their politicking to helping the UG to resolve the country’s more than RM1.5 trillion national debt and socio-economic growth instead of dwelling in petty politics, spewing racial and religious bigotry that do not serve the  rakyat dan negara (people and country).

Prove yourself before demanding seats, Terengganu Umno tells PKR

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu PKR must assess its own strengths before demanding that Umno make way for it in numerous seats for the upcoming state election, says Terengganu Umno chief Ahmad Said.

Ahmad said PKR must take into account various factors, including the strength of its own machinery and grassroots as

“They must measure their own strengths (first), how many branches do they have (in Terengganu)? Tell us, who are their local political figures?” he said yesterday, according to Astro Awani.

Ahmad said, for example, Terengganu PKR had asked Umno to make way for it for the Jabi state seat, which Umno lost to PAS in the 2018 general election by a mere 55 votes.

“This is not right, would Umno supporters back this decision?”

“They (Terengganu PKR) want it all. Show your strengths first, how many branches and members do you have? We have over 20 branches in this state,” he said.

On Sunday, Bernama reported that PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad urged Barisan Nasional to take his party seriously, saying it is optimistic of winning several seats in the coming state election.

After meeting party members in Kuala Terengganu, he said grassroots want PKR to continue to have a foothold in Terengganu.

Nik Nazmi said the party’s optimism about winning state assembly seats was based on its past track record, demographic factors as well as surveys and research.

BN holds 10 seats in the 32-member Terengganu state assembly, while PAS holds the rest.

BN and PH, which are partners in the federal unity government, are in the midst of negotiations over seats to be contested. Nik Nazmi said the negotiations are expected to be completed within a week or two.
