Good luck PN and Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR, June 22, 2023: Good luck to both Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Malaysians in the coming elections in the six states - Penang, Selangor, Kedah, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu.

But get set for Taliban-like rule by PN should it win to rule all six states as Malaysia will also be set for a Taliban-like federal government in the next general election (GE) or GE16.

This is because the state elections is seen as a referendum on the Anwar Ibrahim-led Unity Government (UG).

Should the UG (comprising 19 political parties led by Pakatan Harapan, Umno, Sabah and Sarawak) perform badly, it will be seen as Malaysians’ rejection of UG.

And the Taliban-like PAS has been allocated the lion’s share of the number of seats by PN, its chairman Muhyiddin Yassin announced today.

Muhyiddin said PN would be contesting 245 state seats, 83 seats for Bersatu which he leads, PAS (126) and Gerakan (36).

This can only mean PAS is likely to be dominant in the governments, and perhaps the next federal government in the next GE.

Unlike in the UG, the dominant party is Anwar’s multi-racial Pakatan Harapan (PH) which assures that the interest and welfare of all all Malaysians are guarded to maintain national unity and harmony for continuous socio-economic growth and heal the country’s more than RM1.5 trillion national debt.

And the debt was ramped up by previous federal governments and their prime ministers

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional will contest 245 seats in the six state elections.

Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the coalition had agreed to allocate 83 seats for Bersatu, PAS (126) and Gerakan (36).

“The seat allocation has been finalised. The announcement of the seat distribution will be done at the state level to prepare our respective machineries,” he said at a press conference at Perikatan’s headquarters here on Thursday (June 22).

Muhyiddin added that the respective component party leaders at the state level will decide on the criteria for the candidates that will contest in the state elections.

He also said that Perikatan would contest 36 seats in Kedah followed by 45 seats in Kelantan, 32 allocated in Terengganu, 40 in Penang, 56 in Selangor and 36 seats in Negri Sembilan.

“The number of new seats with no incumbents contested under Perikatan are 64 seats by Bersatu, Pas 50 seats and Gerakan 36 seats.

“The no incumbent means any seats that belonged to other parties that are not under Perikatan,” he said.

Earlier, Perikatan component parties had a meeting on the distribution of seats for Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu state elections.

The state elections will likely be held in August as the five states have announced dissolution dates - Kelantan on June 22, Selangor on June 23, Kedah and Penang on June 28 and Negri Sembilan on June 30.

Terengganu is expected to announce the dissolution of its legislative assembly soon. - The Star
