PN has no heart for rakyat dan negara (people and country)

KUALA LUMPUR, June 27, 2023: Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin says he will meet his predecessor, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, to discuss the latter’s Malay Proclamation soon.

That clearly shows the Taliban-like PAS dominated PN has only race in their political agenda to wrest power, not for the interest of the rakyat (people) or Malaysians and negara (country).

If PN had the heart for rakyat dan negara, it would not use religion and race as its political agenda. Instead, it would come up with a constructive agenda of socio-economic progress and development as Malaysia is saddled with more than RM1.5 trillion in national debt - no thanks to previous governments of the day and their leaders.

By resorting to religious and race propaganda PN is also undermining and threatening national unity and harmony, thereby destabilising politics and the Anwar Ibrahim-led Unity Government (UG) to the detriment of rakyat dan negara.

Also, why the need for a Malay Proclamation? Have the Malays lot anything?

Their bumiputera status and the civil service are still vey much intact for the Malays, and the Sultans and Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) are still revered and respected by all ethnic Malaysians.

The Malays have not lost any status or control of governments and the country.

And, all law-abiding Malaysians continue to adhere to the five principles of the Rukun Negara which are still taught in schools.

So, what’s the problem? The only problem is the national debt - ramped up by previous governments of the day - which is creating socio-economic misery for many Malaysians.

With the six state elections - in Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu - likely to be held in August, Malaysians can expect PAS and PN to step up its racial and religious rhetoric for electoral victory.

Muhyiddin Yassin said he is glad Dr Mahathir Mohamad is willing to cooperate on issues which relate to the Malay community.

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin will meet his predecessor, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, to discuss Mahathir’s Malay Proclamation soon.

“I have read the 12 points listed in the Malay Proclamation document,” Muhyiddin told FMT in an interview.

“To me, that is something we (Bersatu) stand for, it is the foundation of our struggles.”

Muhyiddin said while the Malay Proclamation was important, the focus should be on measures that need to be taken to realise the aims of the document.

The Malay Proclamation, a Mahathir initiative, has the aim of “uniting the community” across the political divide. The document lists 12 key problems said to be faced by the Malays.

The document has been signed by several Bersatu and PAS politicians in their personal capacities. Among them was PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

Earlier this month, Mahathir said he was ready to work with Muhyiddin again, some three years after their relationship soured over the Sheraton Move that led to the collapse of the Mahathir-led Pakatan Harapan government.

Subsequently, Muhyiddin said he, too, was ready to work with Mahathir for the sake of “race, religion and country”.

He told FMT they have been in touch through intermediaries.

“It seems that he is ready to see me,” said Muhyiddin. “I said we can meet. If I am not mistaken, right now he is out of the country. So, I said after or before Hari Raya Haji, if he is free, I will see him,” he said.
