MCA 'sour grape’ leaders go ballistic on DAP

KUALA LUMPUR, June 24, 2023: MCA’s “sour grape” leaders have gone on overdrive and ballistic after DAP’s former Damansara MP Tony Pua said Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters must prove that “a multiracial party that is clean and not corrupt” could do better “than corrupt coalitions (sic) like Barisan Nasional (BN), Umno and Bersatu”.

MCA is unlikely to get any seat from BN to contest in the coming elections in the six states and its “sour grape” leaders are bent on exploiting political sentiments to undermine the Anwar Ibrahim-led Unity Government (UG).

MCA has become politically irrelevant to M:Malaysians and have been soundly rejected in the last three general elections.

Thus, of course what Umno leaders have said that MCA and MIC have become liabilities to BN for failing to deliver the votes and win seats.

Furthermore, what Pua said about BN, Umno and Bersatu were trues about their past.

Isn’t the disgraced former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is now languishing in prison, from Umno? Also, many past leaders in BN and Umno had also been convicted for corruption.

So, MCA now has nothing better to do in politics but to sow political discord to win back its previous status in BN and relations with Umno.

To make a comeback, the “sour grape” MCA leaders see the demise of the UG and the sidelining of DAP as the only way for them to make a comeback, with Umno’s backing.

With the elections in Penang, Selangor, Kedah, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu likely to be held in August, why is MCA providing fodder to the Taliban-like PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN) to disunite the 19 parties, including Sarawak and Sabah?

No News Is Bad News reproduces below news reports of the waste of time and energy in politicking, instead of consolidating to win in the state elections and get down to work on healing the country’s economy that is saddled with a national debt of more than RM1.5 trillion - no thanks to previous federal governments and their leaders:

Is PH going to betray BN, Wee asks after Pua’s remarks on Umno

MCA president Wee Ka Siong also questioned why DAP would seek support to form a government if Tony Pua had reservations about alleged corruption in BN.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong has hit out at former Damansara MP Tony Pua for calling Barisan Nasional and Umno ‘corrupt’.

PETALING JAYA: MCA president Wee Ka Siong has expressed concerns over former Damansara MP Tony Pua’s remarks on Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) last night, questioning whether this meant Pakatan Harapan will betray BN.

Wee questioned what Pua was implying as DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook’s policy adviser when he recommended that PH win the 16th general election and govern the country independently.

“Doesn’t it imply that BN will be betrayed by PH? Is DAP planning to stab us in the back?” he asked in a Facebook post.

Wee further questioned why DAP would even seek BN’s support to form a government if Pua had reservations about the alleged corruption in its midst.

“Several DAP leaders themselves have been appointed as ministers under this unity government,” the BN deputy chairman said.

At a DAP fundraising dinner last night, Pua stirred controversy when he said PH supporters must prove that “a multiracial party that is clean and not corrupt” could do better “than corrupt coalitions (sic) like Barisan Nasional (BN), Umno and Bersatu”.

Several Umno leaders have since slammed Pua’s remarks, with Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh stating that it had created dissatisfaction among Umno’s grassroots.

Akmal said Pua needed to realise that his actions were tearing apart the harmony and understanding being fostered within the unity government.

Meanwhile, Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil reminded Pua that DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng was also charged in court for alleged corruption.

Sack Pua as your adviser, MCA man dares Loke

DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook appointed Tony Pua as his policy adviser in May 2022.

PETALING JAYA: MCA has dared DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook to sack his policy adviser, Tony Pua, after he caused a controversy by calling Barisan Nasional and Umno “corrupt” at a party event last night.

“Pua is not a nobody in the party as alleged by the DAP secretary-general.

“He has been the policy adviser to the DAP secretary-general since May 18 last year,” MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker said in a statement.

“Loke must therefore take disciplinary action against Pua or sack him as his policy adviser to prove DAP’s commitment to the unity government.

“I dare you, Loke!”

At a DAP fundraising dinner here last night, Pua said Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters must prove that “a multiracial party that is clean and not corrupt” could do better “than corrupt coalitions (sic) like Barisan Nasional, Umno and Bersatu”.

Loke today said Pua’s remarks were uncalled for, describing it as an “attack” on a key coalition partner in the unity government.

He added that Pua no longer held any position in DAP and his comments last night were in his personal capacity and did not represent the party in any way.

Loke stressed that DAP’s top leadership decided to cooperate with other political coalitions in order to achieve political stability, and as such, provocative statements against its partners in the unity government were not in line with the party’s position.

In response, Ti said it was commendable that DAP had “learned to respect Umno’s sensitivities”.

“It is good to note that they have learned and have proven to be super-sensitive towards Umno, unlike before.

“DAP is still trying very hard to (get) Malay votes via Umno. Unlike MCA, Umno supporters are still suspicious of DAP based on their provocative statements and politicking in the past.”

Tony Pua’s remarks on Umno uncalled for, says Loke

DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook says anyone who cannot mind their tongue is not welcome to speak at DAP events.

Loke Siew Fook said any provocative statements against its coalition partners in the unity government are not in line with the party’s position.

PETALING JAYA: DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook says former Damansara MP Tony Pua’s remarks on Umno last night were uncalled for.

At a DAP fundraising dinner here last night, Pua said Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters must prove that “a multiracial party that is clean and not corrupt” could do better “than corrupt coalitions (sic) like Barisan Nasional, Umno and Bersatu”.

“Such attacks on key coalition partners in the unity government should not have been made and are uncalled for,” Loke said in a statement.

“Anyone in DAP who cannot mind their tongue is not welcome to speak at DAP events.”

Loke added that DAP’s top leadership decided to cooperate with other political coalitions in order to achieve political stability, and as such, any provocative statements against coalition partners in the unity government were not in line with the party’s position.

He also said that Pua no longer holds any position in DAP and his comments last night were in his personal capacity and did not represent the party in any way.

Yesterday, Pua said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is PH chairman, must complete his full term as a “popular prime minister” and prove that multiracial coalition politics can be successful in Malaysia.

“Prove to them that a multiracial party that is clean and not corrupt can actually do better than corrupt coalitions (sic) like Barisan Nasional, Umno and Bersatu,” he said.

Several Umno leaders have since slammed Pua’s remark, with Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh stating that it has created dissatisfaction among Umno’s grassroots.

“Pua needs to realise that his actions are tearing apart the harmony and understanding being fostered within the unity government,” he said.

“We should not let the disgraceful actions of an individual like Tony Pua hinder the harmony and understanding that we seek to build.”

He added that Pua should realise that Umno’s presence in the unity government is crucial in ensuring that Malays’ concerns over PH’s previous 22-month administration are put to rest.

Meanwhile, Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil reminded Pua that DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng was also charged in court for corruption.

Pua was an aide to former finance minister Lim under the former PH administration.

“So, where is your party’s credibility in claiming to be clean compared with Umno, which you say is corrupt?” he said.

“If Umno is so corrupt and dirty, there is no need to wait for the 16th general election. Even now, you can propose to your party leaders to leave Umno out of the unity government.”
