For God’s sake, when is ‘enough is enough’?

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2, 2024: A third KK Mart outlet was petrol bombed on Sunday (March 31) in Kuching.

For God’s sake, when is “enough is enough”?

And there appears to be no conscience nor empathy from those who started and continue to fan racial and religious hatred - Firdaus Wong who posted pictures of the Made-in-China Allah-brand socks, Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh and Umno.

And, when will the police and Government start taking action against all three for being responsible for spewing racial and religious hatred? Are they untouchable and above the law?

Akmal and Umno continue to maintain their stand for the continued boycott of KK Mart - despite the apology by the convenience store chain owner and the supplier who have both been charged in court.

Both the police and the Anwar Ibrahim-led so-called Madani Unity Government also appear to be disinterested in taking action against the following:

Lawyer and social activist Siti Kasim said: "I recently saw a TikTok video where he (Akmal) was seen calling the Malays to be ready. He was seen sharpening a parang ... this is something the police must act on.

"It is like he is instigating the Malays to create problems. Islam never teaches us all this," said Siti.

What were the real intention and motive of Firdaus Wong in posting pictures of the socks on social media?

Firdaus Wong, Akmal and Umno - all take no responsibility for sparking the ongoing violence? Did they not threaten national security and harmony? Did they not violate the 3R (Race, Religion, Royalty)?

PETALING JAYA: Deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof has appealed for calm following the petrol bomb attack at a KK Mart outlet in Kuching yesterday.

The Petra Jaya MP urged the public to let the authorities do their job to nab the culprit.

“I also want the police to find the culprit and charge them immediately,” he said in a text message to FMT.

The attack on the KK Mart outlet in Kuching, was the third such incident in the span of a week. The incident was reported by a 25-year-old man who worked at the outlet in Jalan Satok.

The first two attacks were carried out against KK Mart outlets in Bidor, Perak, and Kuantan, Pahang, last week.

The petrol bomb thrown at the shop in Bidor on March 26 failed to explode, while the attack in Kuantan on March 29 set several items on fire but the flames were promptly put out by KK Mart workers.

KK Mart has been mired in controversy since March 13 after socks with the word “Allah” were discovered at its Bandar Sunway outlet, sparking calls by Umno Youth for a nationwide boycott of the convenience store chain.

KK Mart’s founder and a director have since been charged with intentionally wounding the religious feelings of Muslims by selling the socks, while three officers of the vendor, Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd, were charged with abetment. All claimed trial.

Earlier this evening Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii, from DAP, said he was left stunned by the attack, saying he never expected such an incident to take place in Kuching where people have for years lived harmoniously regardless of race, religion or background.

KUCHING, April 1 — Police here are hunting a suspect involved in hurling a Molotov cocktail at the KK Mart outlet in Jalan Satok.

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah confirmed that a report on the incident was lodged on Sunday.

“Police received a report from a 25-year-old store worker, who reported that a Molotov cocktail caused boxes containing beverages placed on the five-foot way in front of the store to catch fire,” he said in a statement today.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage.

The Section provides for imprisonment of up to seven years or a fine or both, upon conviction.

“Those with information on the incident are asked to contact investigating officer Sgt Ceremona Nasim on 013-8554168 or approach the nearest police station,” he added.

Ahsmon also called on the public not to act beyond the limits of the law and to give space to the existing legal processes.

The recent controversy of the “Allah” socks issue involving KK Mart has resulted in calls to boycott the convenience store chain.

Early Saturday, a KK Mart outlet in Kuantan, Pahang was reported to have been firebombed. This was after a failed attempt to firebomb another outlet in Bidor, Perak earlier last week.

Following the incident in Kuantan, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the public not to take matters into their own hands. — The Borneo Post
