KLIA food operators fleece consumers with impunity
KUALA LUMPUR, April 13, 2024: Can the Domestic Trade and Consumers Ministry explain why food operators in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) are allowed to profiteer and fleece air travellers?
Two packets of Nasi Lemak with fried chicken, some ikan bilis (anchovies) and peanuts - RM63.10!
In Singapore’s Changi International Airport - a packet of Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken/Rendang Beef, anchovies and peanuts, potatoes and an egg - S$6/7!
Either the so-called Madani Unity Government is sleeping on the job or it “licences” food operators in KLIA to profiteer and fleece air travellers.

Nav Nair is at KLIA Malaysia.
WTF wei!!! Dey KLIA , don't u guys monitor the pricing ha? Cilaka 2 pathetic Nasi Lemak comes to RM63.10. I understand airport pricing and all or maybe some fancy dish but this is ridiculous la. Just fried chicken, ikan bilis, rice and spoon of sambal in a box. I'm ok with your premium price but at least let the food look a lil premium . Is this really worth the price?
I don't normally share negative stuff about food but this is too much la
Just landed and I've begun cursing to glory
No News Is Bad News response is this:
When you encounter such ridiculous profiteering, just tell the food operators to eat their own food and drinks themselves and walk away.
Afterall, what can they do? Consumers can also call for enforcement for help. And if they get rowdy, call for help from security and police.
Or, avoid such obnoxious food operators by buying outside food before heading for KLIA!!! In the long-run, that will teach the profiteering food operators a lesson they will regret - or they may also be forced to close down!!!
