The King and I

Updated report below

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3, 2024: The above image was shared on WhatsApp.

We do not know what the meeting was about or when the royal audience was held. But the accompanying caption was this:

KK Chai must be thinking …. "Now, even the Agong wants to see me. Thank you for making me so famous now, you paloi Akmal. You are a real bodoh, stinking a**hole. "

Eat your heart out, you racial and religious bigoted Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh and Umno - the national threat to Malaysians, national unity and harmony.

Lawyer and social activist Siti Kasim said"I recently saw a TikTok video where he (Akmal) was seen calling the Malays to be ready. He was seen sharpening a parang ... this is something the police must act on.

"It is like he is instigating the Malays to create problems. Islam never teaches us all this," said Siti.

A senator has asked why Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh has yet to be investigated for sedition after posting a picture of himself holding a sword on Facebook. Akmal had posted the picture, taken during a recent trip to Japan, on March 14. The picture was captioned: “No matter what, we will not waver from our stance. Better to die standing than live kneeling.”

And it's all over five pairs of Made-in-China Allah-brand socks!

YANG di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim granted an audience to KK Mart founder Chai Kee Kan. The convenience store chain has been under the spotlight after socks bearing the word “Allah” were found being sold at one of its outlets in Bandar Sunway.

Chai, also known as KK Chai, took the opportunity to apologise to the king and all Muslims for the convenience store’s sale of the socks during the audience, which lasted 15 minutes.

“All parties must be more responsible. Don’t let this incident repeat, and I hope that this will be my last time stressing on the matter,” decreed the king, according to the Royal Press Office in a statement that was posted on Sultan Ibrahim’s Facebook page.

“Once again, I warn all parties against taking advantage of the matter, including inciting the rakyat. I do not want this issue to prolong any further.”

On March 27, the king urged all parties to stop taking advantage of the controversy, saying the issue should be left to the authorities.

The audience comes after Sunday’s attack on a KK Mart in Kuching – the third in a week.

Earlier in the week, outlets of the convenience store in Kuantan, Pahang and Bidor, Perak were also attacked with Molotov cocktails.

KK Mart founder KK Chai and his wife Loh Siew Mui, who is the company director, have claimed trial in court to a charge of wounding religious feelings. – April 3, 2024.
