Untrustworthy multi-headed snake Umno digs its political grave deeper

KUALA LUMPUR, April 13, 2024: This is why the multi-headed snake Umno can never be trusted by law-abiding-peace-loving Malaysians anymore.

In the last general election (GE), Malaysians grudgingly voted for Umno, thinking it had changed to save the country from Taliban-like rule by PAS and the racist Perikatan Nasional (PN) led by the unpatriotic Muhyiddin “I Am Malay First” Yassin.

Today, Umno has returned to its super ultra-Malay-Muslim bigoted ways - thinking that it had regained Malay political support with its recent exploitation of sensitive racial and religious bigotry.

However, Umno does not even realise, or refuses to realise, that it is on the verge of political extinct in Malaysia.

After being left with a mere 26 seats in the 222-seat Parliament in the last GE, Umno has not learnt from its failure and folly.

Beginning with Selangor, Umno has returned all its 75 village head positions in the state unity government, and claims their president Zahid Hamidi, who is deputy prime minister and Rural and Regional Development Minister, had agreed to appoint Umno village heads in the state under the ministry.

So, is the ministry serving only Umno? Surely, it will be suicidal to Anwar and Pakatan Harapan if this is so.

If this is true, Umno is digging its political grave deeper with its disloyalty to Anwar Ibrahim’s so-called Madani Unity Government.

However, given Anwar’s display of “political weaknesses” thus far, it will not surprise disappointed Malaysians that he is likely to take Umno’s “slap” as “nothing or a non-issue”.

If so, Anwar has only himself to blame if/when Malaysians’ abandon him and PKR in the next GE.

SELANGOR Umno is handing back all 75 village head positions to the Pakatan Harapan state government.

State Umno chief Megat Zulkarnain Omardin said the party was now looking at appointing the new chairmen for the Madani village communities.

He said party divisions have submitted the names of candidates for the positions. Appointment letters are expected to be issued soon.

There will be a chairman for every village in Selangor under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry headed by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the a deputy prime minister.

“I have received and submitted these nominations (from the division chiefs) to the ministry, and we have obtained approval,” Megat Zulkarnain was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.

“Following Hari Raya festivities, I will convene a meeting with the chairmen and secretaries, totalling 746 people, to hand over their appointment letters, witnessed by the division chiefs.”

Selangor Umno and the PH state administration are feuding over the positions although they are both allies in the federal unity government.

In January, Selangor Umno returned its quota of 20 local council seats to the state government, saying that the allocation was too small.

Megat Zulkarnain has said the 20 seats allocated to Umno made up just 7% of the 288 positions in Selangor’s 12 local councils.

In the elections last year, Umno and PH teamed up to win 34 of the 56 seats in the state assembly.

Umno, which won Dusun Tua and Sungai Tawar, was allocated one executive council seat, which it returned to the state administration. – April 12, 2024.
