Malaysians at a political crossroad to live under Taliban-like governance

KUALA LUMPUR, April 8, 2024: Malaysians and Malaysia are in a political dilemma and “sane” governance.

They are left with no choice but to live in a Taliban-like governance.

When the next general is held in 2027, there is no choice but to elect “despicable” political parties that waste precious time on racial and religious bickering instead of focusing on productive matters to heal Malaysia’s more than RM3 trillion (national debt + household debt) debt-ridden economy.

The question now is who is more racial and religious bigoted: Pakatan Harapan (PH), PAS, Perikatan Nasional (PN) or the Umno-led Barisan Nasional (BN).

Bersatu (a component party in PN) Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said the controversy over the design of a shoe logo, viewed as resembling the Arabic script for the word “Allah”, has made Islam “look very petty and bad”.

He said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Muslims should not be so paranoid as to think that everything is a challenge to Islam.

“Our actions need to be based on knowledge and not blind emotion.”

And lawyer activist Siti Kasim posted this on X:

Simply despicable

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal says Muslims should not be so paranoid as to think that everything is a challenge to Islam.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said Muslims must act based on knowledge and not blind emotion.

PETALING JAYA: A Bersatu leader said the controversy over the design of a shoe logo, viewed as resembling the Arabic script for the word “Allah”, has made Islam “look very petty and bad”.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Muslims should not be so paranoid as to think that everything is a challenge to Islam.

He said: “Our actions need to be based on knowledge and not blind emotion.”

The Bersatu Youth chief compared the shoe controversy to the case of socks imprinted with the word “Allah” and said in the case of the latter, the offence was clear.

However, in the case of Vern’s shoes, there was nothing against Islamic law, he said.

On nonsense reports

Wan Fayhsal, a former deputy minister for national unity, also said the mass media should stop reporting “such nonsense” for hits. “Islam is not the religion for stupid people,” he said.

The shoe company, Vern’s Holding Sdn Bhd, has apologised for the logo design, taken steps to stop sales of the shoe, and offered refunds to customers.

The company said shortcomings in the design of the logo, imprinted on the sole, “was inspired by the image of interconnected lines resembling a high-heeled shoe” but acknowledged the shortcomings in the design that could lead to misinterpretation.

Police are currently investigating the case while officials in Johor have seized several pairs of the shoes from Vern’s shop in Johor Bahru.

Malaysians, lets take on the Bangsa Boikot: Boycott Vern’s shoes

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7, 2024: To all law-abiding-peace-loving Malaysians - take on the Bangsa Boikot (Boycott Race) and boycott Vern’s shoes nationwide.

The spineless Vern’s Holding Sdn Bhd yielded to the threat of the racial and religious bigoted Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh and quickly apologised for “nothing”.

The company has thus, indirectly supported/encouraged Akmal and his scare tactics that are threatening national unity and harmony - not forgetting the damage it is doing to the economic environment.

has apologised for selling shoes with a logo resembling the word Vern’s apologised for selling shoes with a logo resembling the word “Allah” in Arabic printed on the soles but Akmal’s allegations against the company were seriously doubtful.

Lawyer activist Sita Kasim posted this on Facebook:

Siti Kasim is with Siti Kasim.

OMG!! What is wrong with this fella ??

Siti’s “fella” refers to Akmal.

And youth party Muda wants Akmal not to waste time on non issues.

Muda vice president Zaidel Baharuddin said if such demands were continued, soon people would be asking window manufacturers or ship anchor manufacturers to explain why there are cross marks on their products.

And, why no furore over this 2017 issue from Akmal? The "insult" is even clearer, isn't it?

Stop this stupidity please, Muda tells Akmal

Muda wants Akmal not to waste time on non issues.

Updated 1 hour ago · Published on 07 Apr 2024 8:19PM

YOUTH party Muda has urged Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh to stop creating an issue out of nothing.

Referring to Akmal’s latest salvo against a local shoe brand over a design which allegedly features the word "Allah" on its sole, Muda vice president Zaidel Baharuddin said Akmal was playing up superficial issues to seek attention and get an immediate reaction.

“Muslims and Malays in Malaysia are facing a crisis of high commodity prices at a time when the ringgit is extremely weak.

“Most also have negative sentiments towards the government today and we can see it through the response to government initiatives such as PADU registration.

“In the midst of this angst and crisis of trust, Umno Youth which is part of the government decides to play up superficial issues because they want attention and get an immediate reaction,” Zaidel said in a statement.

Zaidel also said that if such demands are continued, soon people will be asking window manufacturers or ship anchor manufacturers to explain why there are cross marks on their products.

“It is unfortunate when our politics is overwhelmed by individuals playing up such sentiments for short-term reactions, and it is even more unfortunate that these people are some of those who hold the reins of power.

“Please, stop this stupidity, can't you look for other activities that are more beneficial?” he said.

Earlier today Akmal said in a Facebook posting that the local shoe brand must clarify if one of its shoe designs depicts the word “Allah”.

“I read a posting that said it was a logo that depicted a high heel with its straps, and that is what I see too.

“There is logic in this, but whatever it may be, we urge the local company to issue an immediate clarification.

“If there is no explanation in 24 hours, then don’t blame us if we boycott your product afterwards,” he said. – April 7, 2024.

In a statement, the company’s management said the logo was inspired by the image of interconnected lines resembling the strap of a high-heeled shoe.

“The management would like to humbly apologise and seek forgiveness. We hope for compassion so we can rectify this mistake,” it said.

The company’s management explained that the logo was inspired by the image of interconnected lines resembling the strap of a high-heeled shoe.

“We acknowledge that there are shortcomings in the logo’s design that could lead to misinterpretation, thereby offending the feelings of many parties.

“We have absolutely no intention of designing a logo aimed at belittling or insulting any religion or belief.”

It said it has taken immediate steps to cease the sale of the shoes and is prepared to refund customers who have purchased them.

Vern’s said the incident is a valuable lesson for the company to be more careful when making any decisions.

Earlier today, religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar said the Islamic development department (Jakim) would investigate a company that purportedly sold shoes with their logo resembling the word “Allah”, in Arabic, printed on the soles.

He also called for all parties to remain calm and provide space for Jakim and the authorities to investigate the matter.

In a Facebook post that went viral earlier today, a man said he bought the shoes from the company’s outlet in Kuantan.

He shared a video showing the shoe and its sole after taking it out of the packaging.

The police report he lodged into the matter at the Kuantan police station this afternoon states that the case is being probed under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998

Section 298 of the Penal Code deals with intentionally wounding the religious feelings of others while Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act cites misuse of network facilities to cause offence.

‘Hidden hands’ exploiting 3R issues … to whose benefit?

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7, 2024: DAP’s Teo Nie Ching! Have you just woken up from a long sleep?

Teo, the Deputy Communications Minister , claims there are “hidden hands” who want to exploit issues related to race, religion and royalty (3R), especially during the lead-up to any election.

Really? The exploitation of racial and religious bigotry unfoled many, many months, if not years, before the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat in Selangor was declared vacant following the death of the incumbent DAP assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong.

So, Teo, stop trying your “bullshit political talk”! You are insulting the intelligence of Malaysian voters! Just tell us something we don't already know, show some courage to tackle socio-economic issues, and Malaysians will thank you and DAP for that.

You should be asking and trying to determine who stands to benefit from the 3R bigotry that is threatening national unity and harmony. Umno, anti-Umno Trojan Horses in the party, PAS or Perikatan Nasional (PN)?

PETALING JAYA: Deputy communications minister Teo Nie Ching claims there are “hidden hands” who want to exploit issues related to race, religion and royalty, especially during the lead-up to any election.

The Kulai MP said she expects such issues to escalate ahead of the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election on May 11, Sinar Harian reported.

The date for the by-election was announced by the Election Commission on April 4. The seat fell vacant following the death of DAP’s Lee Kee Hiong, who was a three-term assemblyman for the constituency.

“We do not deny that there are hidden hands playing up these issues on social media. However, we believe the police will investigate and take appropriate action to ensure that these matters are kept under control.”

“I hope the public is aware (of such tactics) and are not influenced by the 3R issues played up by certain parties,” Teo told reporters during a visit to a school in Kulai today.

She also said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had removed 1,454 online content related to 3R issues in the first quarter of this year.

Apart from 727 online content related to religious issues, there were 588 online content related to racially charged speeches, and 139 hate speeches involving the royal institution.

Last month, a report by a human rights group found that incidents of racism and racial discrimination were most prevalent in politics among several categories studied in 2023.

In its report titled “Malaysia Racism Report 2023”, Pusat Komas said it recorded a total of 50 incidents of racism and racial discrimination, of which 15, or 31.4%, involved politics.

It said politicians often manipulated racial and religious tension to grapple for power, adding that they would also seek to instil fear within their communities.

Komas programme director Ryan Chua said the 50 incidents reported last year were lower than those recorded in previous years, adding that it peaked during the general election season in November 2022 and May 2018, when 82 and 76 cases were recorded, respectively.

When cops treat acts of terrorism as just mischief

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7, 2024: Project Stability and Accountability for Malaysia (Projek Sama) says the series of attacks on KK Mart outlets and the arson in Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham’s residence indicate they are not “random acts of mischief by fire” but acts of terrorism.

As such, they said those behind the incidents should be probed under Section 130B of the Penal Code for committing acts of terrorism to advance a political, religious or ideological cause, which read with Section 130C, carries a prison term of seven to 30 years and a fine, if convicted.

Why then are the police just threating the threat to lives, national security and harmony as just acts of mischief?

Fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the attacks? Only the police can explain its illogical classification of public mischief when it is clearly a national security threat.

Projek Sama says the series of attacks indicate they are not ‘random acts of mischief’, as how the police are treating it currently.

PETALING JAYA: A reform group has called for the police to investigate those responsible for the petrol bomb attacks on KK Mart outlets and the arson in Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham’s residence for terrorism.

Police have said the incidents are being probed under Section 435 of the Penal Code for committing “mischief by fire”, but Project Stability and Accountability for Malaysia (Projek Sama) said the series of attacks indicate they are not “random acts of mischief by fire” but acts of terrorism.

As such, they said those behind the incidents should be probed under Section 130B of the Penal Code for committing acts of terrorism to advance a political, religious or ideological cause, which read with Section 130C, carries a prison term of seven to 30 years and a fine, if convicted.

Projek Sama added that police should also investigate netizens who supported these acts in their online posts under Section 130G of the Penal Code for inciting, promoting or soliciting property for terrorist acts. Offences under this section carry a maximum jail term of 30 years.y

“The conviction of any suspect under Sections 130C and 130G, together with Section 130B of the Penal Code, would send a clear message that there is no ‘selective lawlessness,’ as aptly called out by Tuaran MP Wilfred Madius Tangau,” it said.

“This would immediately deescalate the atmosphere. We are puzzled by the police’s inaction or inability to act.”

In January, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at Ngeh’s home, resulting in fire damage to three vehicles belonging to the Perak DAP leader.

Ngeh was reported to have said that those responsible for the fire might have been incited by others and misled by falsehoods spread by PAS and Bersatu over a statement he made on Dec 28.

His statement sparked controversy by proposing that non-Muslim constitutional experts be appointed to the committee examining conflicts between shariah law and the Federal Constitution.

Three KK Mart outlets in Bidor (Perak), Kuantan (Pahang) and Kuching (Sarawak) were attacked by petrol bombs in the space of one week.

The attacks on KK Mart started following a controversy where a few socks bearing the word “Allah” were discovered for sale at its Bandar Sunway outlet.

In light of this, Projek Sama called for the establishment of a multi-partisan, cross-ministry mechanism aimed at managing, defusing, and preventing ethno-religious tensions.

“A cross-ministry set-up would allow better coordination while a multi-partisan decision-making process would bind all major parties within both the government and the opposition from exploiting any ethno-religious disputes to their advantage,” it said.

The group added that similar councils should also be established at the state level.

Dr Akmal accepts explanation by company selling shoes with contentious logo

NATION

PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has accepted the explanation by the company involved in the controversy concerning the shoes with a logo said to resemble the word "Allah" in Arabic script.

Verns Holdings Sdn Bhd, in a statement Sunday (April 7), said that the logo was actually a stylised depiction of a high-heeled shoe with straps.

According to Dr Akmal, the misunderstanding had been cleared and it is not the word "Allah" in Arabic script but a logo depicting a shoe.

"The company has also halted the production of the shoes in question.

"I would like to thank the company for their explanation. This has provided relief to all Muslims," he said in a statement posted on Facebook on Sunday.

Verns Holding had apologised in a statement Sunday evening for offending any sensitivities.

"We had no intention of creating a logo that undermines or insults any religion or belief and we are hoping to be given the opportunity to explain its design.

"Our management would like to humbly apologise to all and we are hoping for a chance to correct the oversight," read the company's statement.

According to Verns Holdings, it has taken immediate steps to cease the sales of the shoes affected and will offer refunds to customers who have purchased the shoes.

It said the logo was "100%" inspired based on the silhouette of a high-heeled shoe.

"However, we admit that there are flaws in the logo design that may result in it being misinterpreted and thereby offending others," added the company.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain told The Star earlier Sunday (April 7) that the police would look into an allegation that the word "Allah" in Arabic script had been found on the sole of a shoe.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said he had instructed Jakim to summon all relevant parties involved in the controversy to explain themselves on Monday (April 8). - The Star

However, a woman back in 2017 sold slippers with “Allah” printed at the sole but netizens claim the outrage back then wasn’t as big as it is today.

Prayers of worships and offerings may differ from race to race, religion to religion only!

I truly do not believe there are different Thien Kong , Allah, Samy , or Tuhan or GOD the Almighty or whatever names we named HIM differ from different race or creed !
