1MDB billions in oil money but Terengganu cannot afford to sponsor a RoadBike to Rio bronze medalist

1MDB billions in oil money but Terengganu cannot afford to sponsor a RoadBike to Rio bronze medalist

Even the ongoing Rio Olympics 2016 is starting to be embarrassing and unkind to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) Prime Minister Najib Razak and his Umno-led Barisan Nasional federal government.

Malaysia won its second second medal at the games on Aug 16, 2016, with cyclist Azizulhasni Awang taking home the bronze in the men’s keirin event.

Azizulhasni is a first Malaysian cyclist to win a medal at the pinnacle of all sporting events.

It is Azizulhasni’s  major cycling achievement after he finished sixth in London 2012.

Nicknamed the pocket rocket, Azizulhasni is also the only Asian cyclist to make it past the first round in the keirin event, let alone reach the final.

What is unfolding in the media world now is what the Terengganu-born bronze medal Malaysian Olympian is allegedly saying:

"Thank you MB (Chief Minister) for not helping me. Thank you for not willing to buy a ‘RoadBike’for me to use in our preparations for this Olympics, although the proposal was submitted about a year before Rio Olympics."
Ooo! … that really hurts both the BN-Umno Terengganu and federal governments on two counts.

The oil-rich Terengganu government cannot even afford to help sponsor a RoadBike to a Malay sportsman with potential to win in Rio?

This shitty treatment by BN-Umno to a Malay sportsman is just plain surprising and shocking.

The second count is that Azizulhasni is from the state with roots to the formation of 1MDB which is now allegedly linked to global money-laundering activities in the billions by some 10 countries led by the US Department of Justice.

In January 2009, Najib took the Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA) federal as a sort of sovereign wealth fund aimed at ensuring economic development for the state of Terengganu while safeguarding the economic well-being of the people of Terengganu.

TIA, established in 2008, was then renamed 1MDB in January 2009. In his announcement on July 22, 2009, Najib said the decision to expand TIA into a federal entity was made to enable its benefits (oil money) to reach a broad spectrum of Malaysians rather than to the residents of only one state.

In 2015, allegations were made in several newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal, that the organisation had been used to siphon state funds into the accounts of Najib.

Najib has claimed that the monies were deposited into his personal account by a Saudi donor to help BN win the 13th General Election and its fight against Islamic State (IS) armed terrorists.

With 1MDB’s hundreds of billions of ringgits allegedly “leaking” out and linked to global money-laundering activities, the Terengganu state government could not even afford to sponsor a RoadBike to help Azizulhasni prepare for Rio Olympics 2016?

Where’s the logic in Bolehland (Can Land) Malaysia, in Azizulhasni case?
