Muhyiddin says 'Datuk Seri Najib is the thief who stole 1MDB's monies'
Unless the attached audio video clip link has been doctored and so not authentic, Malaysians can expect Malaysia's 14th General Election (GE14) to be one of the most fiery and bruising political battles in Malaysian electoral history.
Suddenly, the former deputy prime minister who was "sacked and kicked out of Umno", Muhyiddin Yassin, has become unbelievably blatant and vocal in his accusations against 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) Prime Minister Najib Razak who is also Umno president.
In his speech in Bahasa Malaysia, he tells Malaysians that "if I was Johor Mentri Besar (Chief Minister), the losses suffered by 1MDB makes up 50 years of the state government's annual budget".
"And how old is 1MDB? Just six years old. How can so much money go missing? How can we bear such huge losses in the history of Malaysia.
"Some say that in the past, government-linked companies (GLCs) like MAS, Perwajaya Steel, and the likes all also suffered losses. So, it is normal and with 1MDB.
"Oh, no that's different. The GLCs suffered losses because of bad business.1MDB's monies were stolen. And who stole the monies? Datuk Seri Najib ..."
Muhyiddin is now the president of the yet to be approved political party founded by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
Mahathir, the prime minister who ruled Malaysia for 22 years, has said that Bersatu was formed as a Malay party to unseat the ruling Umno-led Barisan Nasional in GE14. (Read this for context:http://victorlim2016.blogspot.my/2016/08/mahathir-race-based-bersatu-only-way-to.html)
Clearly, Malay politics has peaked or is peaking in confrontation and an all-out political war is imminent.
The question is: Has 1MDB Najib underestimated Muhyiddin as a "political wimp"?
If that is so, has 1MDB Najib unwittingly created two "Malay political Hercules" for himself to face?
Now that Muhyiddin has publicly accused 1MDB Najib as the thief who stole billions of ringgit from 1MDB, will Najib take legal action or have him (Muhyiddin) jailed?
Would 1MDB Najib continue with his political rampage against all his political detractors?
With the Opposition Pakatan Harapan's de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim languishing in Sungai Buloh Prison, the Mahathir-backed Muhyiddin is beginning to look more and more able and "monstrous" than Anwar to Umno.
Definitely very, very exciting Malay politics for Malaysians ever dreamed of. Sit back, relax and let the show go on ...
