Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob had been questioned on six occasions, with each session lasting about six hours, since he declared his assets to MACC on Feb 10.

PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission again next week in its investigation into four of his former senior officers.

Ismail told reporters camped outside the anti-graft agency’s headquarters here today he had been given a “day off” tomorrow.

The Bera MP left the building at about 2.50pm, some five hours after MACC resumed its questioning in the morning. MACC had previously said Ismail was being treated as a suspect in the case.

An MACC source said Ismail will be summoned for the seventh time next week.

Ismail declared his assets to MACC on Feb 10 and was first questioned on Feb 19.

He was also called in for questioning on March 13, 14, 17 and yesterday, for about six hours each day.

MACC is investigating the discovery of about RM170 million in cash and 16kg of gold bars worth millions of ringgit, seized in raids at the residences of the four officers and three other premises believed to be “safe houses”.

Yesterday, MACC chief Azam Baki hinted that the questioning of Ismail was not likely to end any time soon.
