KUALA LUMPUR, March 8, 2025: Is former minister and ambassador to the US Nazri Aziz a different breed from the other bigoted Umno members and leaders?

Prof Dr James Chin thinks so, arguing that all Malaysian politicians have their share of contradictions.

Chin said Nazri stood out as one of the few who openly confronted blatant racism whenever he encountered it.

He was also among the handful who dared to challenge Mahathir when Mahathir made numerous racist remarks,” he added.

What do you think? (View the above video clips and judge for yourself what you think of Nazri.

James Chin

Many have criticized him, claiming he’s changed his tune now. I disagree with this view. True, he said various things while serving as an UMNO minister, but Nazri stood out as one of the few who openly confronted blatant racism whenever he encountered it. He was also among the handful who dared to challenge Mahathir when Mahathir made numerous racist remarks.

If you look closely, all Malaysian politicians have their share of contradictions. The reality is, the message he delivers in this video is undeniably true, and it’s crucial we amplify such messages to remind the ultra-Malay population that Malaysia isn’t defined by just one race or one religion. That’s the bottom line.
