A “gun-toting” teacher in a classroom with her primary school pupils … this is the type of teachers the Education Ministry values?

Where racism and assaulting of schoolchildren are tolerated by the Education Ministry?

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24, 2025: The Education Ministry says it has launched an internal investigation after an audio clip allegedly capturing a teacher telling a student to “go back to China” for struggling with Malay went viral.

If not for the video clip going viral, do you think any investigation would be conducted?

Do Malaysians really think the ministry would really act?

The case is likely to end up as the infamous police NFA (No Further Action) or allowed to be just forgotten, just like the case of the racial and religious bigoted Umno youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh who was questioned by the police months ago, at the height of the KK Mart controversy, but there is NFA and the police are muted.

FLASHBACK: A senator has asked why Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh has yet to be investigated for sedition after posting a picture of himself holding a sword on Facebook. Akmal had posted the picture, taken during a recent trip to Japan, on March 14. The picture was captioned: “No matter what, we will not waver from our stance. Better to die standing than live kneeling.”

FLASHBACK: Lawyer and social activist Siti Kasim said: "I recently saw a TikTok video where he (Akmal) was seen calling the Malays to be ready. He was seen sharpening a parang ... this is something the police must act on.

"It is like he is instigating the Malays to create problems. Islam never teaches us all this," said Siti.

(Promoting violence and use of firearms in schools is now part of the education system in Malaysia?)

With the police discriminatory NFA for racial and religious bigots, do you think the racists fear the law?

That is why racism in Malaysia (especially in the peninsula) is getting from bad to worse as politicians are allowed to use race and religion to serve their agenda for political power.

Here’s Prof Dr James Chin’s take on the Balik Cina (Go Back to China teacher posted on Facebook:

James Chin

Something is very wrong with the state education system. Almost every year, we get situations where blatant racism is present inside the school. In a recent incident, a teacher from Kerian has stirred controversy after being recorded telling a student to “go back to China” for struggling with Malay, later boasting it wasn’t her first time saying it. The incident took place at a SMK, where she doubled down on her biased remarks: “I’ve done it before, so have others—no one’s made a fuss!” “Sure, a 13-year-old not speaking Malay is one issue, but if the parents don’t either? They should just head back to China!” she argued, seemingly oblivious to the flaw in her reasoning.

Is there political will to fix this? After so many years, so many different Education Ministers, and so many incidents, I think the answer is No. Teachers holding racist views should not be in the classroom but there appears to be plenty of them in government schools and they appear to be "protected" at the highest political level.

Am I right?

As this case is being “investigated”, another case of a teacher assaulting a schoolgirl until her arm is swollen is unfolding (visual found on Facebook).

The sad reality is that both teachers maintain that they did no wrong!

KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — The Ministry of Education has launched an internal investigation after an audio clip allegedly capturing a teacher telling a student to “go back to China” for struggling with Malay went viral.

The ministry emphasised that it does not tolerate racial remarks or discrimination within the education system and remains committed to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.

“A thorough internal investigation is underway,” a ministry spokesperson told Free Malaysia Today (FMT), adding that a meeting with the student’s parents has been scheduled and that psychosocial support services are available.

The ministry also reiterated that government schools must uphold respect for Malaysia’s diverse racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, it highlighted that teachers undergo specialised training to enhance professionalism, ethical standards, and classroom communication skills.

In the widely circulated audio clip, a man claiming to be a relative of the student confronted the teacher, asking if she had told the student to “go back to China.” The teacher admitted to making the remark.

According to FMT, the teacher also allegedly called the student “stupid” and instructed them to “sit near the rubbish bin”.

She reportedly stated that she had spoken to students in this manner before without any prior complaints.

The teacher also allegedly criticised the student’s parents for their inability to speak Malay.

When the man refused to disclose his identity, she allegedly threatened to report him to the authorities fong her privacy.

She also claimed to be on medical leave and warned that her husband, a police officer, could track the man using his phone number.
