Mr Penang Chief Minister Chow, please explain the roofing at The Esplanade hawker centre

KUALA LUMPUR, March 17, 2025: The hawker centre in The Esplanade on Penang Island is segregated into Muslim and non-Muslim stalls.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

However, Mr Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow needs to explain why the Penang Island City Hall (MBPP) has built a roof installed with fans in the Muslim section for diners but not the non-Muslim section or zone.

On the right (with roof) is the zone for Muslim diners and on the left is the zone for non-Muslim diners.

Mr Chow! Is it because the Muslim diners pay assessment rates but the non-Muslims don’t?

Or is it because the Muslims are vulnerable to the rain and sunshine whereas the non-Muslims can withstand the rain and sunshine?

Or is the roof and fans for the non-Muslim zone still in the planning stage?
