BN (Umno, MCA, Gerakan and other lackeys) for Hadi’s hudud bill?

But can work with MCA, MIC, Gerakan and other BN-Umno lackey parties?
BN (Umno, MCA, Gerakan and other lackeys) for Hadi’s hudud bill?

UPDATED with FMT's report below

PKR’s Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen has posted a very interesting take on Hadi Awang's hudud bill to his Kelana Jaya constituents on Facebook and WhatsApp.

It reads like this:

Let's talk about the law making process of the so called hudud bill 355.

1. Hadi Awang is now given an opportunity (thanks to BN) to table his motion early next week at position no.4.

2. Since Hadi Awang is not part of the BN government, he is a "private member" of Parliament, and therefore can only present his amendments to Act 355 via a MOTION.

3. Sometime next week, Hadi will most probably read out his MOTION in Parliament.

4. Then the floor will be open to debate his MOTION. This is not a debate to pass a law. BUT it is a debate on Hadi's MOTION.

5. After the debate, there will be a vote on who supports or opposes the MOTION.

6. If Hadi has more support at this stage, the MOTION will then land on the table of the BN government's representative on Islamic matters. That representative is none other than Minister Jamil Khir from the Prime Minister's Department.

7. Once the MOTION lands on Jamil's table, he will then take instructions from Najib as Prime Minister on how to proceed.

8. At this crucial point, Najib can no longer hide and claim that this is a PAS or Hadi Awang initiative. At this point, it is Najib who has to take full responsibility to push for hudud.

9. His dangerous political game in the past few months has allowed Hadi Awang to push the hudud agenda. But this will come to an end at this point. It will no longer be Hadi Awang's bill. At this point, it will become Najib Razak's hudud bill.

10. If Najib agrees to table the hudud bill, he will then proceed to table it for second and third reading and a final vote is made thereafter.

11. If Najib wins, then the 355 hudud amendments will become law.

12. If Najib does not table the bill, then his romance with Hadi Awang will surely come to an abrupt end.

13. What will happen next week will have profound political and socio economic impact. What is most worrying, is the willingness of those in power to play the hudud card, in an attempt to stay in power at all costs.

So, what say you MCA, MIC, Gerakan and all 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) Prime Minister Najib Razak’s Umno-led Barisan Nasional (BN) lackeys?

Still want to blame PAS and all others but not yourselves?

Zaid: Don’t take Hadi’s bill lightly

Former law minister warns non-Muslims that amendments being pushed by PAS would greatly affect the lives of the people in the country.

PETALING JAYA: Former Umno minister Zaid Ibrahim has advised non-Muslims not to be nonchalant about proposed amendments to the Syariah Court (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act.

In an interview with Nanyang Siang Pau, the former minister for legal affairs said that if the proposed amendments were to come into force, the country would be split as there would be two sets of laws.

This, he said would have a great impact on the lives of the people, including how they dressed and what they could do.

He cited the example of a watch shop owner in Kota Baru, Kelantan who was punished by local authorities for putting up a poster which was deemed “sexy” in July.

“The impact of hudud is wide-ranging, VCD sellers may be charged for playing rock music which could be deemed as corrupting the morals of the people and the local authorities would not issue them the necessary permits to operate,” he said.

Zaid said the country’s legal system would change drastically if the amendment was passed and enforced, especially in any state which followed in Kelantan’s footsteps.

He added that inconsistencies would arise as Muslim and non-Muslim criminals, who commit the same crimes, received different sentences.

“Not only that, the Federal Constitution would not have any meaning any more. The basis for all laws would change tremendously and the civil court would lose its prominence.”

He said the next meeting of Parliament beginning on Monday, was a huge test for the country and its people.

Zaid believed that not all MPs of Barisan Nasional supported the amendment, but some might do so for not wanting to be seen as being in the wrong.

However he also believed the proposed amendments would not get sufficient support from Muslim MPs or those from Sabah and Sarawak.

“I hope that all citizens, including the people of Sabah and Sarawak, regardless of whether they are Muslims or not, reject the proposed amendments.”

He said PAS was by no means putting on a show by pushing for the amendments. It was necessary for MCA, MIC and every citizen to openly oppose the amendments and make their stand clear.

Zaid said the Penal Code should be retained as the system for punishing criminals and stressed that the country could not have two sets of laws.

“PAS are cowards, if they are really fighting for Islam, they should look for ways to change our country’s system, Federal Constitution and Penal Code, to achieve a theocratic state. PAS claims the amendments are aimed at empowering the Syariah Courts and this is a lie.”

He said the Syariah Courts could be empowered by providing more court houses and computers and greater protection of the rights of Muslim women.

Lengthy court cases should be resolved quickly, especially when it invovled custody battles as a result of men who simply sought divorces. “Why not settle these cases quickly so that Muslim women get justice, instead of seeking more power to send people to jail, stone them or chop off their hands.”
Zaid urged the people of the country to oppose the amendments and not bow to a Taliban-like political party which is not fighting for justice and only prioritises what they feel is right."
