Pakatan is finished? It’s now 1MDB PM Najib vs Pribumi-PKR-PAS vs Amanah-DAP?

Replace the identities of the warring trio with Malaysian political forces and you get the picture of a fierce political battle in GE14.
Pakatan is finished? It’s now 1MDB PM Najib vs Pribumi-PKR-PAS vs Amanah-DAP?

Well! What did No News Is Bad News reported earlier? That Malaysians can expect extremely fluid political developments in the run-up to the next general election (GE) or GE14.

Political twists and turns that Malaysians have never ever experienced or seen in electoral history.

Nothing is cast in stone. And changes can be made faster than you can change your underwear in Malaysian politics.

And two news reports today (Sept 27, 2016) have given rise to a possible new political struggle for the right to occupy Putrajaya or to rule Malaysia in GE14.

And Malay Mail has reported 1Malaysia Development (1MDB) Prime Minister Najib Razak as dismissing speculation that he will call for GE14 before the expiry of his Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s mandate in March 2018.

Najib claims he opposed calling early national polls before the deadline as “such a decision should not be based on any single factor”.

If we are to believe what Najib says, we should also believe that the sun rises in the west and sets in the east.

And, we now believe the real reason why Najib does not have the confidence to take advantage of a critically fractured Opposition to call for GE14 is because he is unsure of his “political friends or does”, especially the Islamist PAS.

If PAS is not with Najib’s Umno-led BN, then he is unable to rely on PAS Malays to give BN the electoral boost that it (BN) badly needs for GE14.

And the announcement that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) pro-tem president Muhyiddin Yassin will make his first appearance at a PAS ceramah (political rally) in Terengganu on Oct 1 has punched open Najib’s political worries and fears.

If PAS is not with Najib, then that has given rise to a new and powerful-looking Malay political force - the Pribumi-PKR-PAS combination - to seriously threaten Umno in GE14.

That leaves two other political parties, the Amanah-DAP tag-team to offer Malaysians a third choice to administer Putrajaya. (Read these for context: http://victorlim2016.blogspot.my/2016/09/1mdb-pm-najib-proving-to-be-more-master.html and http://victorlim2016.blogspot.my/2016/09/guan-eng-and-mat-sabus-friendship-dates.html)

So, what do Malaysians have in politics?

Najib’s Umno-led BN which comprises of politically toothless non-Malay parties like MCA, MIC and Gerakan.

The Dr Mahathir Mohamad-founded Pribumi and PAS are 100% Malay parties while the Anwar Ibrahim-led PKR is a Malay-dominated muti-racial party. This is a frightful combination for Umno.

And the Amanah-DAP combined force provides a multi-racial force that has Amanah (a splinter of PAS moderate Malay leaders) to lead the Malays, with DAP providing the Chinese-Indian-Malay mix for the balanced mix.

Should, somehow, the Pribumi-PKR-PAS combo and Amanah-DAP tag team strike some sort of electoral understand or pact for GE14, then that may be politically fatal to Najib’s BN.

So, Malaysians may be split with three choices in GE14 and who will they trust more is likely to win the right to occupy Putrajaya.

Unbelievable and rubbish?

Time will tell as nothing is cast in stone in Malaysian politics that subscribe to the policy of “no permanent friends and no permanent enemies” and “winning the game is all about making the impossible possible”.

"HADI DUMPS NAJIB? MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH – MUHYIDDIN TO SPEAK AT PAS CERAMAH IN HADI’S T’GANU STRONGHOLD

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) pro-tem president Muhyiddin Yassin will make his first appearance at a PAS ceramah in Terengganu on Oct 1.

Titled ‘Himpunan Harapan’, the event organised by Terengganu PAS will also feature the Islamist party’s vice-president Idris Ahmad, election director Mustaffa Ali and state PAS deputy commissioner II Yahaya Ali.

A poster of the event, with an image of Muhyiddin with several PAS leaders, including president Abdul Hadi Awang, has set tongues wagging.

Confirming the matter, Terengganu PAS commissioner Saiful Bahri Mamat told Malaysiakini that Muhyiddin was invited in his capacity as former deputy prime minister.

He said Muhyiddin was invited even before the formation of Bersatu.

“I am sure thepeople would like to hear his views on his exit from Umno,” Saiful added, in reference to the former Umno deputy president being sacked from the party in July.

Saiful also stressed that PAS practised a mature brand of politics and welcomed all who can accept its struggle

“From a political aspect in Terengganu, there are only PAS and Umno at present.

“So we have to look for ways to convince Umno members to leave their party and join PAS,” he said in explaining the reason for inviting Muhyiddin to speak at the event.

Saiful also clarified that Hadi is slated to officiate the event on Sept 28, and that he would not be present on Oct 1 when Muhyiddin delivers his speech.

Detractors have often accused Hadi of being aligned to Muhyiddin’s nemesis, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak. – M’kini

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has dismissed speculation that he will call for general elections before the expiry of his Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s mandate in 2018.

Najib said he opposed calling early elections before the deadline, adding that such a decision should not be based on “any single factor”.

“We rest on our record. We have a strong record and we will continue to tell the Malaysian people that our government is still the best choice,” he was quoted by international news wire Reuters telling a news conference in Berlin, Germany.
