1MDB PM Najib’s meek media lackeys stick up like a sore thumb

1MDB PM Najib’s meek media lackeys stick up like a sore thumb
When a former prime minister of 22 years hands over a Citizens’ Declaration bearing 1.4 million signatures to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) in Malaysia, it is not newsworthy.

The 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) Prime Minister Najib Razak’s mainstream media mouthpieces don’t finds such an event not worthy of any report on the political implications.

That is a classic reason why Malaysians have stopped relying on the mainstream print and electronic media for news and to be kept informed in socio-economic and political development.

In short, 1MDB Najib’s Umno-led Barisan Nasional (BN)-controlled media have lost journalistic credibility, integrity and the confidence of the rakyat (people).

Malaysians now wait with bated breath to see whether the Conference of Rulers will discuss the matter or respond in any way:

Here’s the online news portal Free Malaysia Today (FMT) report today:

Former prime minister has audience lasting more than an hour with the Agong at the Istana Anak Bukit in Kedah.

PETALING JAYA: Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah to hand over the Citizens’ Declaration, bearing 1.4 million signatures.

Former Umno member Khairuddin Abu Hassan told FMT that he accompanied Mahathir to Istana Anak Bukit in Alor Setar, Kedah, for the “historical” meeting yesterday.

“They (Mahathir and the King) met about 4.30pm and the discussion went on for about an hour 15 minutes.

“It was just between the two of them. So whatever was discussed inside, I will let Tun Mahathir reveal it,” Khairuddin said.

Mahathir’s special officer Sufi Yusuf also confirmed to FMT that the 91-year-old former prime minister went to the Istana bearing “a set of documents”.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s founding member Anina Saadudin told FMT that the declaration had been delivered to the King, who is also the Kedah Sultan, as promised.

“Tun Mahathir has fulfilled his promise, and now it is up to the Agong to decide if he will bring it to the attention of the Conference of Rulers. We hope the Agong will do what is necessary.”

The Citizens’ Declaration campaign was launched by Mahathir and 40 others back in March this year, urging Malaysians to join in the quest to remove Prime Minister Najib Razak via peaceful means.

The document, which was made available online and on hard copy, also sought institutional reforms and the repeal of laws that “violated fundamental human rights”.

The document, and the movement which initiated it, had largely been dismissed by Barisan Nasional leaders as a “futile effort” to topple a democratically elected government.
