Online news portal news portal malaysikini has published a relatively interesting news analysis.
Here’s the analysis as re-posted by the Malaysian-banned online news portal Malaysia Chronicle:
"NAZIR TRYING TO CHANGE THE ISSUE FOR HIS BROTHER? RULERS MUST FOCUS ON ‘KLEPTOCRAT’ NAJIB FIRST – NOT THE NCC2

‘People who are decently brought up do not attempt to steal from his own house.’
Nazir’s NCC2 badly needed to overcome deteriorating race relations
Proarte: People like Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman can offer nothing to improve Malaysia. We have to go beyond racism which is the root cause of all the problems we are facing. Syed Saddiq is part of the problem because the party he recently joined is racist and exclusivist.
The Bersatu party is anything but a party of unity. It is actively keeping alive and promoting the wicked notion of ‘second class’ citizenship where ‘pendatangs’ can join but not contest in elections.
Syed Saddiq and his ilk are hoping to hijack the Umno ship. Najib Abdul Razak and his fellow pirates will be given amnesty for cooperating.
Not surprising that Malaysian Official 1’s (MO1) brother Nazir, who also happened to be the ‘bagman’ for Umno by helping to distribute allegedly ‘dirty’ 1MDB money is considered most suitable to be chairperson of NCC2.
Spinning Wheels: Proarte hits the nail on the head. I have sympathy though for Syed Saddiq who sees a failing system and has gotten himself involved. Credit to him for trying, but too bad his efforts are misguided.
I like his honesty that he would like to clean up the racist system of privileges. Others in Malaysia have tried ‘change from the inside’ and failed.
Opposition parties should be based on principles and values in a way that can unite. Justice, meritocracy and Islamic values for instance are good starting principles/values that can lead to common policies that are socially just.
If the starting point is a policy such as hudud or bumiputera quotas, then mapping to a set of universal principles will be impossible.
Tan Kim Keong: The second National Consultative Council (NCC2) as suggested by Nazir and with him recommended as the chairperson by Syed Saddiq is a positive way forward.
So for those who cannot suggest anything constructive or positive could at least support it instead of casting aspersions. And the saying goes: Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something.
Roguekiller: People who are decently brought up do not attempt to steal from his own house, and another assisted the alleged thief in sharing the loot.
The NCC already exists and there is no need for a second. Malaysia is sliding down a dangerous path, as you noticed, in fact, plummeting, do you know why?
Nazir, your brother allegedly caused it; you should suggest he be brought to book. Everything thence will be reverted back to multiracial cultural harmony, rebirth economy, and a healthy Malaysia.
Anticonmen: Just reinstate equality of citizenship and all the freedoms as per the original 1957 constitution, respect it and everything will fall into place.
These were the inbuilt checks for a democratic society and dynamic nation but were gradually dismantled since 1969.
The Analyser: Clearly you didn’t see that the original NCC was an abject failure. One only has to look at Malaysia today to realise that. Clearly you don’t even realise that the same problems that existed in 1969 are exactly the same problems which exist today.
Clearly you didn’t think about the implications of another NCC. Clearly you have not mulled over the imposition of more top-down politics of the sort Islam is famous for. Clearly you are just following what someone else told you to say.
Rahman Dahlan ridicules opposition for taking democracy lessons from Dr M
Dont Just Talk: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan, you are right that Najib aka MO1 has taken Malaysia not only into new democratic heights but also in alleged corruption.
If you have any dignity and common sense, Abdul Rahman, can you name a prime minister in the world who has the courage to receive US$861 million into his personal bank account?
Just to recap. Round 1: Umno ministers said Najib would not be that foolish to receive the wire transfer into his account, and when it was proven that indeed he has received the US$681 million.
Round 2: Umno ministers said that it was a ‘donation’ from a rich Arab, oops rich Arabs, and sorry, oops CEO of the rich Arabs.
Abdul Rahman, we have not even touch on his wife’s alleged lavish lifestyle and spending spree yet. Stop defending the indefensible and get the MO1, who is a liability to the nation, to resign as PM.
GE14Now!: I suppose that you are taking “stealing” lessons from your PM, Abdul Rahman? Oh, silly me, please forgive me, I should have actually said that you are taking “fundraising” lessons from your PM – how to raise billions from allegedly non-existent Saudi donors.
Most of your pronouncements are plain daft but in this one respect (at least so far) I will agree with you – Dr Mahathir Mohamad does not understand the meaning of democracy. But then come to think of it, neither do the rest of you in Umno.
SusahKes: What’s even more ridiculous, Abdul Rahman, is that there are still idiots in BN who do not know who MO1 is. Hey, don’t blame me; I’m just using your own words that you used to describe same.
And here you are, chastising the opposition, Mahathir and what-not, whilst you continue to fail to admonish these idiots who are also part of your cabinet. I mean, you’d bump into them regularly, wouldn’t you?
Surely there must be a modicum of embarrassment that inhabits your conscience when you walk past the coffee machine, and the person concerned happens to be there, too.
But then again, you, as a BN type, might ask, “Apa tu conscience?”– M’kini"
