What the heck! 1MDB PM Najib has already won GE14 ...

What the heck! 1MDB PM Najib has already won GE14 ...
So, what are the latest political realignments or developments do we have for 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) Peninsular Malaysia?

Force 1: We have 1MDB Prime Minister Najib Razak’s Umno-led Barisan Nasional (BN).

Force 2: We have the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi)-PKR political combo.

Force 3: We have the Amanah-DAP political combo.

Force 4: And now, confirmed, we have the PAS-Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) political combo!

Force 5: What the heck! Let’s also include the mosquito and loner that no one pays attention to - Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) currently spearheaded by secretary-general S. Arutchelvan. It too can split the Opposition votes significantly in its strongholds.

So, basically, we have five political forces competing for Malaysian ballots in the next general election (GE) or a snap GE14.

Now, let’s keep it simple! We have the ruling BN (comprising more than 10 other political parties with Umno as the dominating force contesting under the BN banner - this itself is already going into a GE as a united force).

We have four other Opposition forces going into GE14 with their own selfish political agenda, competing for the same Opposition supporters or voters!

And, the four political forces can still realign with one another or even join BN by GE14 which is likely to be a snap GE called by Najib to take advantage of the disunited Opposition forces to consolidate his premiership.

Whatever the political realignments take final shape, the end result will still be the same - a severely split or fractured Opposition forces handing over easy GE14 victory to BN ... unless all the four Opposition forces unite, agree on an electoral pact on seat allocations to ensure straight contests with the BN.

Can the Opposition forces unite as one to do electoral battle with BN in GE14?

We leave it to Malaysians to judge for themselves and their wisdom in choice in GE14. But, given the present scenario, No News Is Bad News opines that Najib has already been given the mandate to continue governing Malaysia for another five years even before he calls for a snap GE14 - no thanks to a disunited Opposition.

Here’s the details of the volatile political realignments and developments. Two of the reports are in Bahasa Malaysia that also exposes the Islamist PAS’ game plan of confusing and splitting the Opposition voters to favour the Umno-led BN, and another tells you that GE14 is definitely near:

Baharu duduk atas pentas sama sahaja. Orang kata ‘don’t read too much’,” katanya ketika ditemui pemberita selepas merasmikan Persidangan Pendidikan Tinggi Kelantan di sini, hari ini.

"‘THIS TIME THE CHINESE WILL RISE AGAINST THE OPPOSITION’ – GERAKAN PREDICTS GE14 IN 9 MONTHS TIME

Politics | October 5, 2016 by | 0 Comments

Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong said he expects the 14th general election to be held in nine months’ time, according to a Sin Chew Daily report.

This would put the general election sometime in the middle of next year.

The general election was previously speculated to take place in March as the time frame had been bandied around in meetings among Umno division leaders, Bloomberg reported.

In an interview, Mah said Gerakan has almost finalised candidates for the 45 state seats that it will be contesting with the exception of some seats in Penang.

Mah said while the 2008 general election had been described as a political tsunami by the opposition, he expects a different kind of political tsunami in the upcoming general election.

“I have seen a political awakening among the people, particularly in the Chinese community where they are beginning to question and criticise the federal opposition.

“This was unlike in 2008 where the criticism was only against BN,” he was quoted as saying.

Mah believed that BN could potentially recapture a two-thirds majority if the opposition engaged in multi-cornered fights.

He noted that PAS had strong machinery and Pakatan Harapan would be greatly weakened without the Islamic party’s cooperation.

Mah also responded to rumours that Umno and PAS may cooperate, stating that Gerakan was prepared to accept such cooperation on condition that PAS abandoned its ambition to implement hudud.

“But it’s impossible because PAS will not give up its ambition for an Islamic state,” he said.
